  1. This was in Illinois. Maybe the laws are different up there. No idea.
  2. Radon testing was part of the sale and purchase of homes my dad had before he died in 2011 (Illinois). It was done when the homes were inspected before the sale. The new (built in 2003) home we sold tested for a level of radon high enough that we couldn't sell until it was "fixed". You can get radon monitors installed in your house (they look like smoke detectors). It was part of the selling process, like having to have your house inspected for termites before a sale.
  3. I'm OK with dark chocolate, but regular chocolate has got to be mixed with something peanut or peanut butter or I don't like it too much. I forgot to add that I don't like egg yolk unless it's hard boiled. Can't stand to see my husband eat an egg with a runny yolk - sopping it up with toast. BARF! My eggs have to be scrambled or hard boiled or I can't get them down. I also don't care for sweet tea. I like unsweetened tea but not sweetened. Probably because that's the way you get it in Illinois when you order tea. If you want it sweetened, the restaurants give you sugar packet
  4. I don't eat lamb, liver, beets, hearts or gizzards of anything, snails or chocolate that is not mixed with peanuts or peanut butter. I just don't like these foods. Especially lamb
  5. Stale, chewy or crunchy - makes no difference to me - I LOVE popcorn and it is my favorite snack. I especially love movie popcorn.
  6. A couple of years ago, the popcorn at Movies 278 was voted best in Atlanta (or something like that). That was before it changed hands.
  7. We bought the Serta iComfort Genius mattress last year. We love it. We got the hardest one you can get and it is just right for us. It has some kind of cooling gel in it and heat is not a problem. It does not smother you when you are on your stomach or side. Our son has an iComfort Insight with the cooling gel. We all sleep very well on the iComforts.
  8. My dad used to make all the kids and grandkids put their cell phones in a basket on the counter until they left his house so they wouldn't be texting their friends all through Christmas day. My brother in law came down with his family at Thanksgiving two years ago. He was in a back bedroom the entire day, on facebook, writing about what a great time he was having with his family. We only saw him come in the door and then again when he left. Not once did he have a "great time with his family"! I hate cell phones.

    Big Rocks

That rock and mulch place on 92 in Hiram sells big rocks. I don't know how much they sell them for. They are always out front on display.
  10. My sister researched my mom's family using Ancestry.com and found them listed on records from Ellis Island. They came over from Italy in the 1890's. It even listed the name of the ship they were on and when it left Italy, what port it left from and when it reached Ellis Island. It was very interesting. That side of my family doesn't branch off much- my grandparents were first cousins and came over as children (5 years old and 10 years old) on the same boat. My grandmother's name remained the same all of her life, even after marriage - Rose Carollo.
  11. Could this picture be just a double exposure? The boys look very clear and I've never seen a ghost picture with the figures that clear. You can see through their little feet but everything else looks filled in pretty good. If they are ghosts, they look scared or sad. I took a picture of our Christmas tree last year and I turned off the flash so you could see the lights better. When I got the picture printed out, it looks like a little person standing to the left of the tree, peaking out from behind the tree, complete with very faint wings. Everyone who looks at the picture sees this
  12. The company I work for, Bankhead Railway Services, Inc., is a service provide for NS (and other RR's). Snakes love the rocks (ballast) on railroad tracks and when our crews go out to repair track, they sometimes have to have one guy to just watch for snakes. They are so bad. I would have died if I had seen a snake that big. I would die if I see a little green garden snake. I. HATE. SNAKES.
  13. Well, for one thing, they can't be in band or play sports if they can't pay. They do have a "scholarship" and a few kids can get that for band. But if they don't go to band camp, they are not allowed to be in marching band. I'm not sure what the deal is if they can't pay for the school registration fees and books. I guess they are just expected to save up because they know it's going to have to be paid every year. Not sure really. I remember my mom making us buy all the used, beat up books because they were cheaper. We had six kids in our family.
  14. HA! It must be because nobody answered me!
  15. My neighbor talks about this place all of the time. He loves it. How do you get there?
  16. I am amazed every year how much people complain about having to buy school supplies. My sisters in Illinois not only have to buy the supply list they are given, but each kid has to pay a registration fee and buy books. That's elementary school, Jr. High and high school. They pay about $300 in registration fees per kid, higher in high school. They have to go buy their books in high school just like in college. One of my sisters has 3 kids in high school band. IN addition to paying the fees and books for school, they all had to go to band camp and pay the band fees in order to be in marchi

    Gun Kits

I'm not even sure if they do or not. I was asking if anyone has seen any for sale and can tell me where they saw them. I remember seeing one at Deer Creek Gun Shop in Marietta a few years ago but I haven't looked lately. My dad had one, too and he got it about 25 years ago or so. Maybe they don't sell them anymore.

    Gun Kits

does anyone know where I can buy a gun kit - the kit has all the pieces to make a gun and you put it together yourself? My son wants one for Christmas and I'm not sure where to start. I would think a sporting goods store would carry them but I'm not seeing them on line. He wants to build a "pirate" type pistol. I think they are kind of expensive. Thanks!
  19. I hope they are good so we don't have to keep driving to Atlanta for Sublime Donuts. They are the BEST and worth the drive, however!!
  20. I'm also guessing a girl, although she looks like she's carrying a boy. My "girl" guess is because of the special "thing" (don't know what it's called) the Queen signed so that a girl could be called princess and not just lady. I think Kate is a doll and the kid is sure to be a cutie if he or she looks anything like the parents!
  21. Pasta Bella is my family's favorite place for Italian. We like Maggiano's, too. I can tell by how the place smells when you walk in if it's good or not - if it smells like my Grandma's kitchen, it's usually pretty good.
  22. Well, I don't know anything about bobcats so I was wondering if they are dangerous in general. I still wouldn't want to come across one. Maybe I'm thinking of mountain lions.....
  23. "Pretty" is one thing. Don't these animals attack humans? I would be afraid if I saw it while I was out walking somewhere.
