The state has had tobacco surcharges for at least two years now - I figured most health insurance companies were already imposing the surcharges.

Cold spray, huh? I wish *I* could have that when I go for my monthly bloodletting. Thank goodness they at least use butterflies - MUCH less painful. If your granddaughter is the kind of child who likes rewards, I'd get her a small toy in advance and take it to the doctor's office. Tell her if she is a good girl, there'll be a surprise for her afterward. Maybe even let the nurse or tech who takes the blood give her the toy - that way your DGD will associate them with something good instead of something painful.

Local Food Bank is desperately in need of donations,

I guess you didn't finish reading the info in the link I provided. From the Ashland (Oregon) Food Project website: Ashland is known for its high-end food culture. Yet many Ashlanders find it tough to afford even the most basic food. Fortunately, local organizations like the Ashland Emergency Food Bank, the Food Angels and Uncle Food’s Diner are around to help them. These groups already distribute food to thousands of our neighbors. But as the economy has gotten tighter, their need for food has grown. The New York Times reports that demand at food banks across the U.S. is up by an a -
She could have been palming the pills and saving them up - if Joe Turner still posted here, I'll bet he could tell us how many sleight-of-hand tricks there are that she could have used to do just that.

Y'all should try to get something started like this: http://ashlandfoodproject.com/ -
Or maybe coaches should just teach a less aggressive form of the game. When I played basketball in middle school, I got my glasses knocked off my face *once*, and was never knocked down. Maybe it was just a kinder, gentler time.

Have you ordered from this distrubuting company?

The company itself is fine. Be aware that the quality of the merchandise runs the gamut from excellent to so-so. I have bought things from them on several occasions and been satisfied about 90% of the time. -
Has pulmonary hypertension been conclusively ruled out? That is a disease that affects both the heart and lungs ....

Composting Junk Mail & Used Printer Paper, Etc.

As I understand it, as long as you keep the proportions of 'green' waste (vegetable leavings, grass clippings, etc.) to 'brown' waste (paper) even, you'll be fine. You can also use layered newspaper as bedding in earthworm boxes, if you care to try that. I don't have a good place to raise earthworms, but I've always wanted to try it. -
I sit corrected - thanks.

Do you know what makes a 'pass' different from a street, drive, court, etc.? I've also noticed that 'pass' street signs are blue rather than green. I'm just trying to figure out what makes them different from any other street.
-
Aren't those streets named 'Pass' usually a private road? I've seen several around the county, and always figured they were private roadways that led to one or two houses at the most. Although ATVs aren't street-legal, since the report mentions a 'pass' address, it's possible that the same laws don't apply there, and that the ATV driver was within the law in riding in the 'road.'

Hahahahahahaha! Too funny that you mentioned Kroger, of all places. You may remember when certain driver's license functions could be performed in select Krogers in Georgia. That turned out to be a travesty - both for the D/L division and for Kroger. People were going to Kroger managers complaining about something that had happened at the D/L counter. There were assaults on D/L personnel in the Kroger locations and several bomb threats were called in to the stores - all about D/L transactions. The Kroger peeps got tired of it and began 'redesigning' their stores so that there wasn't '

It's not all about the sticker, you know. As a business owner yourself, think about all of the costs that impact *your* business. State and county governments have the same expenses as any other business: facilities, personnel, supplies, etc. I can't speak for the tag office, but I can assure you that the driver's license division operated for many years AT A LOSS, then finally broke even for a time. I'd be willing to bet that they're operating in the red again, thanks to the new issuance equipment they're using.

Thanks for the link. I pray that these families find peace.

It's a luxury item - something you want just because you want it. Some of those plates return a portion of their proceeds to a certain charity, and others exist just because it's kinda fun to have 'em. For example, I don't understand 'the point' of getting specialty manicures and pedicures, but Lord knows there are scads of people out there getting them. If I can't afford mine next year, I'll give it up - NO BIG DEAL.

Our ISP (Earthlink) doesn't participate.

I noticed that, too, and thought it a peculiar thing to say. I guess it was a clumsy way of commenting on her 'escaping' what a life sentence *usually* means: 30-40 years in jail and dying of old age there.

My husband wears his pump as one might wear a cell phone - it has a holster that clips to his belt. He makes sure his injection/insertion site is above his beltline. You can detach the line long enough to shower. I worked with a woman for a while who had an insulin pump, and she had a small pouch for her pump that attached to her bra strap. Do you have insurance? If so, it should cover some of the costs, at least.

Wow. With the exception of 'The Pacific' and 'Glee,' NOTHING we watch or watched won *anything*. Craig Ferguson and 'The Middle' weren't even nominated, which is criminal.
-
Have you tried 129?
-
Squeeee - Nathan Fillion!

My husband uses an insulin pump. What would you like to know?
-
Yup. I think the only show that we watch that's nominated for anything is 'Glee.' Glad Jane Lynch won - she's funny as hell.
