  1. Wow. Other than the 'latch your eye open' thing (and your eyelid is completely numb, so you don't feel a thing), that wasn't my experience AT ALL. I remember being able to *see* throughout the procedure - in fact, I was quite conscious that my vision was becoming clearer and better. Very cool.
  2. Although I was told that I might need reading glasses sooner rather than later, I actually didn't need them for several years after my procedure - and I was older than y'all when mine was done. I opted for the 'regular' Lasik - the mono-vision thing just sounded like *asking* for a headache. I know people who have done it and are satisfied, but I wasn't interested. Were you comfortable with the people at the clinic? Did they offer to let you view a procedure beforehand?
  3. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
  4. I'm glad your surgery went well, Lady Raider. Pain is a great debilitator, so take whatever meds they gave you to keep the pain at bay until it passes on its own. I hope you're back to 100% very soon!
  5. A constitutional amendment established HOPE and its funding - another amendment could end it. Given a choice between preventing the state of Georgia from going bankrupt and funding the education of individual citizens, I'll protect the state.
  6. I didn't click on anything to see how broad or specific the information might be, but here's something to look at for starters: http://www.open.georgia.gov/ I will add that, unpopular as it would be, I think the HOPE scholarship program should be severely curtailed or eliminated.
  7. Neal Boortz was talking about this yesterday ....
  8. Well, gee, it's not the Lord's fault you bought pantyhose that were too small for you.
  9. I have been with Credit Union of Georgia (formerly MACO) since the early 90s and have always been satisfied. They have a branch on Dallas Highway in Citizens Square. They also have several branches in Cobb County, which is good for me. Make sure that whatever CU you choose is a member of a CU cooperative so that you can use other CUs for conducting basic transactions and using their ATMs without incurring a fee. For example, I can use LGE's ATMs in the same way I can use CU of GA's.
  10. There *was* a third choice. I don't know if we'll see it in my lifetime, but I wish more people would be willing to give a third-party candidate a serious look - and a chance to serve.
  11. I hope that her new course of treatment brings her healing. God bless her and her family - may He give them strength.
  12. If you are certain that your math will bear you out, have your son sit down with you when you pay your bills and PROVE to him that you aren't an inexhaustible source of $$. Then go over his *necessary* monthly expenses with him and tell him how much you are able/willing to cover (if you still *want* to do that). If the private lessons money won't cover the difference, then he needs to either get another job (like Mom has to!) or cut back on his expenditures. If y'all live on the bus line, he CAN ride the bus to and from school. He CAN eat sandwiches for lunch. There are always ways to sav
  13. Pulmonary Hypertension, or PH, is high blood pressure in the arteries of the lungs that can lead to heart failure. - What are the Symptoms of Pulmonary Hypertension? PH patients experience symptoms such as shortness of breath, dizziness and fatigue, and the severity of symptoms usually correlates with the progression of the disease. - Who Gets Pulmonary Hypertension? PH affects people of all ages, races and ethnic backgrounds. Although anyone can get PH, there are risk factors that make some people more susceptible. - How Is Pulmonary Hypertension Diagnosed? There
  14. I have been with a credit union for many, many years. They don't 'fee' you to death like banks tend to do. I'm presently with Credit Union of Georgia (formerly MACO) and have no complaints.
  15. Thanks for the encouraging words - I just feel bad about going in front of people. Next time I'll probably do the absentee thing.
  16. I just can't bring myself to do that - I'm no better than anyone else.
  17. I feel the same way. In the good old days, before I got sick, I would've waited in the line I saw at Taylor Farm a little while ago. I just didn't think I could do it today. And if it makes you feel any better, MiniVanMomma, you couldn't possibly hate me more than I hate myself right now.
  18. Only for the unprepared and the uninformed. That's my observation as a former 'gooberment' employee.
  19. Read more about it here: http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000112.htm
  20. We'll watch until 'Sherlock Holmes' comes on at 9. LOVED Lyle Lovett singing the national anthem - thank God some people still respect it for what it is and don't try to 'personalize' it. And George Senior is definitely having problems moving around - I hadn't heard that anything was wrong with him or had happened to him lately.
