  1. 'Castle' - ABC 'The Middle' - ABC and (usually) 'American Experience' - PBS
  2. 1 - If you're going to get your kid to help you rob a bank, why would you let him GO to school to begin with? 2 - Wonder if that will be an excused absence? I'm betting not .... http://www.wsbtv.com/news/26652146/detail.html
  3. Exactly. When a violation results in a death, it's not up to the victim's family whether or not the person responsible will be charged. Stilesboro Road can be challenging at the best of times - I would be willing to bet that the young girl was driving too fast for conditions. In some ways, patchy ice is more dangerous to drive on because it's easy to get careless. People like me who have lived long enough to drive on it know that; a teenager wouldn't, but ignorance is no excuse.
  4. <---- Native Georgian here, *but*: I'm in no hurry for spring to get here, because springs here in GA are short and summers are looong. And I HATE summer!!!
  5. As I posted on my FB wall, we will never have tort reform as long as we have elected goofballs who not only think this kind of suit is OK, but FILE THEM THEMSELVES!
  6. Do you have her book? It's full of great, practical advice for rearing children.
  7. Switch to the cotton string bags - they're great!
  8. We didn't get anything - which would be unusual - so I'd guess not. I hope there weren't any checks in your outgoing mail!
  9. I'd pack for a non-complicated delivery (24 hours), unless you *know* already it'll be something else. People can always bring you extra stuff if you stay longer and *really* need it. I dunno - I believe in packing light for everything. Best wishes - I hope you make it to full-term, though!
  10. Sorry - I could only vote this 'up' once.
  11. I'm glad that you and your mother are having a positive experience with the hospital, and I hope they are able to help her to feel better soon. Bless you both!
  12. Bad *girl*, maybe. But statistically, my point is valid: shootings at malls and shopping centers are rare occurrences, whereas traffic accidents on Barrett Parkway are commonplace. I avoid that area like the plague.
  13. Absolutely - better to be injured or die in an auto accident than a shooting.
  14. Royal, rest in peace. Thanks for the memories, especially 'Boo Got Shot.' And if it's not too much trouble, please reach down and give Neal a slap up-side the head when he needs it.
  15. We got our mail (Hiram), but no way was it three days' worth. We'll see what shows up tomorrow.
  16. If you're talking *supplemental* reading, my husband liked '1776' by David McCullough.
  17. My husband and I have Kindles. In the unlikely event you used all the storage space, you can 'archive' books you have purchased to make room for more. The Amazon system keeps track of the ones you bought so that you could reload them to your Kindle later. You can look at Kindles at Target and Best Buy, I believe, and at Nooks at Barnes and Noble. Most reviewers still give the edge to the Kindle, but beauty and convenience are in the eye and hand of the (be)holder. I don't care for touchscreens, as a rule, so I much prefer the keyboard of the Kindle - YMMV. Good luck!
  18. If he wants you to come in that badly, he could always come and GET you.
  19. Yep, I survived SnowJam '82. My sister and I had dental appts. in Marietta that afternoon. We were in the waiting area (no windows), and the secretary came out and told us that it was snowing HARD and sticking and that they were going to close up. We left and headed for home (Powder Springs), but only got as far as what was then Jones Shaw Road (now Windy Hill). My mother was afraid to go any further, and she pulled into a closed-up business' parking lot and tried to call my father from the pay phone there. No answer - we found out later that he had already left work (the DPS HQ in Atl
  20. I'll be interested to see/hear if the driver's license offices in metro Atlanta close tomorrow. There were rare occasions when we were permitted to close early, and some occasions where no one could get in to run the office, but I can't recall an occasion where we were TOLD by those in charge that we wouldn't open due to weather. In the days when we were run by troopers, that was especially ironic: the spokesman for GSP would be telling people to stay off the roads, while his cohorts in charge of Driver Services were telling us to come in to work or *else*.
  21. This was taken through our storm door with my cell phone, so the quality isn't the best ....
  22. I tend to agree with you. There was a time when school closings were announced THE DAY THEY WERE CLOSED, not the day before. If people didn't want their kids going to school, they simply kept them at home - they didn't wait for an announcement to let them know it would be 'OK.'
  23. And check the pockets for loose change before washing your clothes.
  24. Regular gloves, Baggies over those, rubber bands around wrists. Better than nothing!
