  1. Thanks Deep Green! Ohmygosh... I would be happy to meet with your friend. There is no charge for the initial consulation. Please have her give me a call to set up a time to meet. If she's comfortable with me, I'd be happy to help her. If not, I may be able to make her a recommendation to someone else. Either way, hopefully I can help steer her in the right direction.
  2. Careful, you might start a new craze.
  3. If you're ever up in Kennesaw, DSW usually has them. We've bought several pairs there.
  4. The code section doesn't specifically say your have to wear the shoulder strap, but it does say you have to wear an approved belt, and the court's have said that it must be properly worn, including the shoulder belt. For someone with a medical condition that interferes with the seat belt, you can get a written statement from your doctor, and be exempted from the requirement.
  5. I second that. I have used her as my hematologist, and she is absolutely wonderful. She is probably one of the kindest doctors I've ever met.
  6. [/url]Here is the applicable law: O.C.G.A Section 9-12-60 (a) A judgment shall become dormant and shall not be enforced:(1) When seven years shall elapse after the rendition of the judgment before execution is issued thereon and is entered on the general execution docket of the county in which the judgment was rendered;(2) Unless entry is made on the execution by an officer authorized to levy and return the same and the entry and the date thereof are entered by the clerk on the general execution docket within seven years after issuance of the execution and its record; or(3) Unless a bona
  7. Holy cow, is that really next week????? Guess I better figure out what I'm going to do with the little one!
  8. You may want to consider updating your withholding information. Many people can claim more deductions on their State deduction than on their federal deductions.
  9. Dr. Laur is wonderful. My mother has used him for years for her foot problems, and I now use him for my feet, and problems with my son's foot. Highly recomment. He and his staff are great.
  10. That is correct. Basically, only Georgia State Patrol can use radar/lasar to write a ticket for anything less than 10 miles over the speed limit. However, there is no law that prohibits an officer from writing a ticket for "Too Fast For Conditions" and base it on his personal obversation, based on training and experience, and never used the radar/lasar devices. Doesn't happen very often, but a lot of officers do use it to justify stopping someone, hoping for more serious charges once they make contact with the person. Most won't write a ticket on that basis, but some will.
  11. I'll second that. I've been down to their store, and order from them over the phone. Most of the time I have things the next day. They are awesome. I've never had a problem with parts not fitting, and they are the only ones who touch my machine!
  12. I agree with LPPT. Branding is really important. As much as we all like to look at beautiful pictures, you need something that represents you and what you, something to you can use on everything, from business cards, to shirts, to contracts, to anything else you can think up.
  13. Was the offender an adult or a juvenile at the time of the offense? If he was an adult, she could do a public records request with the agency that originally handled the case is which she was the victim, and should be able to get the name of the offender. From there, she can search the department of corrections database to see if he has been in the state system for any other offenses. She could also search the public records, like the court dockets, to see if there were any other charges against him.
  14. Pierogi.... now you're talking... so much work, but so worth it. I just got my grandmother's recipe from a cousin, and we spent an entire day making cheese and potato pierogi. What type of meat do you use in yours?
  15. I'm not sure I would want to put my license or reputation on the line by letting a computer do my job. The technology may be amazing, but the firsttime a case is lost because an attorney relied on computer software, heads are going to roll.
  16. I will be having a drawing for an Advanced Medical Directive. Please stop by my table and put your name in for the drawing.
  17. I was there a few days ago and got some fantastic deals. I have no idea why I waited so long to go over. I certainly won't wait so long for my next shopping trip!
  18. The current law (O.C.G.A. Section 40-8-76) requires all children under 6 years old to be restrained in "a child passenger restraining system appropriate for such child's height and weight and approved by the [uS DOT]." So, if there is a seat for your child's height and weight class, they should be in it. The statute does allow for use of a lap belt if the child is at least 40 pounds AND, there is no shoulder and lap belt in the vehicle, or the available shoulder and lap belts are being used for other children. There is also an exception for children who are OVER 4'9". It also re
  19. I went to the Health and Wellness fair this morning. It was a great event. Lots of demonstrations, free samples and door prizes. It's there until 3pm, so stop by if you can.
  20. It's my understanding that the beluga whales that died were rescued from horrible conditions in an aquarium outside the United States (Maybe Mexico). I'm sure the aquarium did what they could for those animals, but they were not in good shape when they were brought to the aquarium. It's a bit unfair to acuse them of killing the whales.
  21. My prayers go out to all involved. It's never easy for the family of those lost, or the others involved in the wreck. Prayers for all.
  22. My sister specializes in these types of trips, and knows all the details, and all the best deals - you can reach her at nikicares@caretravel.net
  23. You're right. We attorneys couldn't survive without great paralegals to keep us straight!
  24. Welcome! We'll have to get together soon on some promotional items!
  25. This sounds very much like practicing law without a license. It is easy for a non-attorney to cross the line into providing legal services, even if they are just trying to provide assistance. The act of selecting which forms to file and determining if they have been correctly completed can be construed as furnishing legal services or advice. O.C.G.A. Section 15-19-51(a) says: (a) It shall be unlawful for any person other than a duly licensed attorney at law:(1) To practice or appear as an attorney at law for any person other than himself in any court of this state or before any judicia
