Most of the nice casinos have free shows. Inside of Caesars, in the mall, there is a show with automated Greeks gods that is pretty neat, as well as the huge fish tank outside of Cheesecake Factory. The fountains of Bellagio (which must be seen at night) are beautiful. Treasure Island also has a really cool pirate show most evenings. As for gambling. . . good luck! I really enjoyed going into the older places down on Fremont (Golden Nugget, and The Plaza are small, but have a cool feel). OH. . . go to the Venetian and explore the canal that twists through the mall.

Those bastards are the real criminals. Always stealing the sweet, sweet nectar we leave outside. And what do you wanna bet that none of them were born here? What is this county coming to?

I agree with you. It is terrible the way that Native American were treated, the bad White Man moving in and taking your lands. It is true that things change, whether we want them to or not, but I feel bad about what we have done to your home. Understand that our intentions were good. We wanted to bring you and your people in to the modern, civilized era. It is obvious we have failed.

Let's see. . . With more people and less legitimate opportunities available, crime rates rise. With more people with varying backgrounds (education, income, race, etc.) comes a rise in the crime rates because there will always be at least one group that feels they are denied an opportunity or advantage by one or more of the groups of which they aren't a part. I can see (but do not agree with) the argument that a person may be safer in a more populated area with a high crime rate. The idea is that an area with a larger population will have the resources to have a larger police p

I saw a couple of flakes earlier. But that's expected when you go to walmart.

I'll answer your question with a question: Does it really matter? It seems that some abused children are not been removed from the abusive environment, despite proof and legal documentation of the abuse. If I remember correctly, an investigation of Atlanta DFCS found 74 cases of children with open files are dead with the cause of death unknown or undocumented. That is not counting the couple of dozen (?) cases in which the child died as a result of abuse that they do know about. The system does not work. On the other hand, what about the case of Justina Pelletier? B

Until a few years ago, it seemed we always had an extra kid with us when we went to dinner. I decided early on (after a similar incident) to always make sure my kids knew the rules, and I was not shy to tell the "guests" the same thing: You let me know what you want and I'll let you know if you can get it OR get what you want as long is it not more than $xx. One violation meant that I ordered for my kids (even when they were older) the next few times, or that particular "guest" was not welcome to join us in the future.

I think that the lack of action (or reaction) has little to do with ignorance. I think it has more to do with self-preservation (if I break up this fight, I might get stabbed) or "this is none of my business" (I am not involved, let them fight). For example, if a neighborhood turns bad, most would just move, some would try to isolate themselves, while a few might try to clean it up. On the other hand, a segment on the news talked about an experiment where a man posed as a kidnapper and a young boy walked up to strangers saying he needed help, that the man was abducting him . . .

12,000 cameras to give Atlanta police broader window to city
cmorg replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
This is money down the drain. While it may serve as a deterrent to some, it will not stop criminal activity and I doubt it will aid in enough cases to make it worth the expense to maintain it. I agree with the points that the OP made about cost of maintenance/repair and paying someone to watch/review the footage. Whatever the number of cameras, it does little good to catch a crime in progress if there aren't enough officers to respond to timely information. Then there's privacy issues. Hackers will be able to get into the camera system (sooner or later) and use it for their -
I think a good, old-fashioned name is a good idea. Maybe Mike or Mary.

All I know about curling is that the members of the Russian women's team all looked like models. So now I like curling.

LOL I was doing just that... in my head, of course.

I went to Best Buy. Things were normal there, but that was around 7... so it could have gotten crowded after I left.

Anyone tried this new Cauliflower recipe, going around?
cmorg replied to Mrs G's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If you didn't like it, there may be a simple fix... Don't use cauliflower. Substitute chicken or even pork. Hell, almost anything would taste better than cauliflower. -
Huge drugstore chain to stop selling cigarettes...

Huge drugstore chain to stop selling cigarettes...

As a business, they can sell (or refuse to sell) whatever they like. I do see it as them jumping on the "smoking is bad" bandwagon. Otherwise, why now? Some of you have said that other items shouldn't be brought in to this discussion, but why is that? If you are to applaud CVS for getting rid of terrible, killer tobacco, shouldn't you also want them to refrain from selling other items that have harmful, adverse effects? Or maybe it's just because you are waiting for the govt. and/or the media to tell you what is bad. It certainly seems that some of you need an establish -
The problem I have with the mayor of Atlanta is that he represents not just Atlanta, but the entire metro area when he is looking like an idiot in national interviews. The powers that be have made all of us look like back-woods hicks that don't know how to act when that cold fluffy stuff falls from the sky... And that is bad, really bad. Then the idiot mayor gets on national shows and makes us look even worse. So a big thanks to the mayor of Atlanta and to all of the well-educated, very well-informed voters in the city of Atlanta.

Slims suck. They have no redeeming qualities at all.

True, power supplies aren't very expensive. In fact, I believe micro center has a 600w for $55. I have rebuilt a few that were a lot older (XP and Vista) and it can be fun. But if another issue caused the power supply to burn up, that might be why Subby suggested it would be cheaper to buy new. And if the desktop in question has Vista, then it's a no-brainer!! Easy-breezy!
-
Yeah, sometimes it's better to start fresh. They have some great deals on desktops with W7. Also, if your hard disk is good, you could just have him install it as a secondary drive and continue using it.
-
I love micro center. How old is your tower and what exactly is it doing (or not doing)?
