  1. Wow. Just one more reason to die without ever having flown on a plane. Whatever I might be missing, I am okay with it.
  2. This whole debacle is a big ol' waste of money on top of the money spent for the airport we didn't want in the first place. Seriously, the money may as well be dumped at the landfill or piled up and burned for all the good we will see from it.
  3. Geesh. This is why it is so galling when you claim you are above partisan politics...for someone who has disdain for both parties, you certainly don't dog those members who belong to "the other" party. And so what if he does? Some people are Democrats, some are not. Time to grow up and stop using it as the equivalent of a schoolyard taunt.
  4. Sandy Kaecher is not a gentleman. I could be wrong, but I don't believe she is anyone's puppet, either. If you have some evidence to the contrary, why not share with the rest of the class?
  5. Tatum trimmed some trees across the street from me and did a good job of it.
  6. Same thing for your e-mail or regular address. Selling data is the biggest industry in this country, and often it's people you give your money to for other things (buying a service or product) who are doing it. Where people hated sitting through a couple minutes of advertising to get free television they now pay ridiculous amounts of money for internet access or data plans so that advertisers have a direct pipeline to bombard them with ads. And they collect and store your data in order to fine tune those ads. As a species, I am no longer convinced we are the smartest or even superior
  7. Do they require those converter boxes for the digital signal?
  8. I saw in the free version of the Rockmart paper they deliver with ads that a woman in Rockmart did basically the same thing to a rental house in Rockmart around the same time this happened - she was being evicted and brought in some stuff and set it on fire. Fortunately it didn't burn down an entire neighborhood the way this psycho did. I couldn't believe two women in two different areas did this same stupid thing, much less right around the same time. I guess it's too much to expect adults to behave like adults anymore, much less like adults with a brain and common sense.
  9. And what teacher wants to go up against someone who is already firing a semi-automatic weapon with a handgun and whatever training and practice they have managed to fit into an already jam-packed schedule? Seriously, you do know most teachers work 50-60 hour weeks between class time, planning and reviewing/grading school work, right? The rest of their time I expect they prefer to spend with their own families & friends, doing the things they enjoy or taking care of their own business. Sure, there are those who probably have experience and enjoy shooting recreationally, and maybe eve
  10. lol I don't need other people's experiences to jolt me back to reality. A short trip down memory lane usually does the trick.
  11. Actually there are quite a few people whose release authorizations list a judge or (former) sheriff; for some, this is the case across multiple arrests. To his credit (I guess), I have yet to see Gary's name listed in that capacity.
  12. Whiners versus Hypocrites. One is just as bad as the other.
  13. That's what my niece did, started in the kennel and was working her way up but left when she was expecting her first child.
  14. I have talked to a couple of people who said the food is good.
  15. Why would someone who claims to be a conservative (who claim to want less government) expect politicians of either party to address social issues? They already spend their time doing everything but the job they are elected to do; they do not have time for nor are they equipped to solve society's problems. It seems quite a few of them don't even have enough self-control to manage their own lives, much less someone else's. If the government would actually govern, parents would parent and churches minister to those seeking spiritual guidance, society might at least be more civil and unifi
  16. Not sure if it is suitable to frost a cake but is this what you are talking about? https://www.seriouseats.com/2015/02/how-to-make-dulce-de-leche-canned-condensed-milk.html I think I would just make the caramel in an open sauce pan; it's easy and I think there is some potential for the can to explode doing it as described at the above link if not done correctly. I love old-fashioned caramel cake like my grandmother made, but that the photo at the link appears to be a different consistency than homemade caramel cake frosting.
  17. More like our collective mistakes include 1) not electing ethical, moral leaders and 2) not holding them to a higher standard once they are in office. Stop making excuses for their behavior and treating them like tabloid-worthy celebrities. Accepting this two-party system is self-defeating and anyone who cares about this country would not buy into it or blindly follow any organization that puts raising money above all else.
  18. You could try the genealogy records at the old courthouse bldg., the operating days and hours are usually listed in each week's paper.
  19. I will go a step further and say that parents should behave in such a way that their children learn to be compassionate, understanding and empathetic. Based on some of the attitudes I see expressed by adults on various websites, and the things they say to others, it is no wonder kids think it is ok to bully, exclude anyone they deem 'unworthy', fight, argue, and so on. Not only is it unrealistic to expect such a drastic change of behavior from kids after they have bullied, excluded or belittled other kids most of their lives, even if they did manage such a transformation it is even less l
  20. Yep. Twenty five years ago today was the start of one cold, miserable week...back then Braswell was so sparsely populated that neither Georgia Power nor the county considered it a priority to restore power or clear the road.
  21. Me too. Whether it's biological or a brain chemistry thing I don't know, but the short days and long nights along with bare trees and general gloom and cold just drag me down and it literally lasts from the day we go back to standard time until DST starts again. If I had to choose, it would be DST year round.
  22. Nope, not this year. Even the pansies I planted in the fall are still alive. One bunch has more flowers than the other but still alive and flowering just the same.
  23. Just because you can do something doesn't mean you should.
  24. Parents need to take the time to teach their kids not to be straight-up dumbasses in the first place.
