  1. El Zorro Posted 15 November 2017 - 11:55 PM: ?? They are also stymied by the crap system the not-good actors have managed to put into place to protect and preserve their way of operating...
  2. Isn't that term usually reserved for someone who has actually won an election?
  3. And there are doubtless many others in both parties who have committed equally egregious offenses. Rather than D or R, maybe the designation should be C and N...Caught and Not Caught Yet. That so many people focus on the party designation rather than the clear indication (by the increased frequency with which these incidents have been coming to light) that a bunch of unsavory types seem to be populating government at all levels doesn't say much for the voters in this country. I am more interested in rooting out all the unethical, dishonest, inept and predatory types than worrying abou
  4. I don't care for needles, so I don't volunteer for shots I don't absolutely have to have. Never had a flu shot and have had the flu exactly once that I recall in I don't know how many years. Hopefully it stays that way.
  5. I suspect there are very few of these men who have not used their position of power as an excuse to either harass, grope, make suggestive remarks, etc. either to women in subordinate positions or minors regardless of gender. Whether such positions are especially appealing to pervy/gropy types or reaching a certain point high on the political or corporate ladder affects their thinking I don't know, but there seem to be far too many who feel entitled to take advantage in one way or another. Regardless of their particular ideology or how 'important' they consider themselves to be, it's dis
  6. So in other words, some kind of bypass road like the one that turns off at Henderson Collision?
  7. The very least you could do is offer a solution of your own. If you were sincerely concerned, that is.
  8. I have seen my own handwritten notes from the same date that look like they were written by two entirely different people.
  9. The term 'melting pot' refers to the fact that we have a diverse population. Being that there have been multiple mass shootings take place in churches, I am not sure prayer in schools and public gatherings is the answer, nor can it be relied upon to change the heart/mind of a mentally disturbed individual. If people don't respect the right of another person to simply exist, having them go through the motions of reciting the pledge or standing during the anthem will do little more than consume a few minutes of their time. A person without empathy isn't going to experience a tran
  10. You can't legislate away addiction either but they sure keep trying. In fact, by that logic, why have laws at all?
  11. If I get a biscuit, it's from the new Martins in Rockmart. Or A & R at 61 & Braswell Mtn Rd if I am on that side of 'town'. I wish I wasn't too lazy to just make my own... I am just sick of fast food in general, and service is just awful no matter where you go, it seems. There is the occasional exception, but as I said elsewhere, most of the young people in these jobs today do not have the interpersonal skills, courtesy or respect for others to hold a service position.
  12. I am not convinced the experiments in manipulating the ionosphere (HAARP) have not been a factor in some of these catastrophic weather events (and possibly earthquakes) in recent history. They have no idea what changes this stuff will ultimately cause for the planet, on top of the pollution and depletion of resources and I will add global warming, whatever the cause.
  13. As for health inspections generally, if you folks weren't afraid to read the Atlanta paper, you would see weekly that scores in the 80s have become the norm all over the metro Atlanta area. I imagine it has as much to do with the quality of employees as anything else, and I say this from my own experiences in the past year or so. I am afraid the next generation has been set up to fail with its reliance on computers, it's fixation on smart phones and its lack of interpersonal skills brought about by the same. Oh, and the fact that they have absolutely no manners or respect for others.
  14. Did either of these institutions contract with private companies to provide meals, I wonder?
  15. They also get schooled on the finer points of a life of crime in general. Then they all get released and use that 'education' to prey on the public.
  16. On my way to work there were two dogs running in and out of the highway from a driveway on 61 N just south of the creek. One was a large boxer type dog, I think, and it had a collar. The other was a smaller white and tan/buff long coated dog, maybe a collie mix of some kind. They were not visible to northbound traffic due because they were just over a slight rise and traffic was heavy. Just wanted to make someone aware in case they got out of a fence or enclosure without anyone's knowledge. I blew the horn and they ran back into the driveway but I saw in my rearview mirror that the smal
  17. What people don't or won't acknowledge is that you cannot make any meaningful change sitting behind a computer expressing outrage on an internet forum or whatever other form of protest you have in mind. The only way to save these kids' lives is by direct intervention, whether it be DFACS, family or members of the community. If the parents are not receptive to offers of assistance, only DFACS or some other authority can compel the family to cooperate. Everywhere you look these days, you encounter people talking or typing on a phone. It is not a lack of dialogue allowing these tragedies
  18. Oh man if there ever was a better biscuit than my mama's I've not found it yet...we always went over for breakfast at Christmas instead of having a family dinner, and she would make several dozen. There were never any left over. Soft and fluffy and perfectly crispy on the outside. I couldn't make biscuits worth a flip until I started baking them in a well-seasoned cast iron skillet. Still nowhere near as good as mama's but the skillet definitely made a difference.
  19. Leftists Libs Libtards Socialists Commies Lefties PC Personal attack Unpatriotic etc. and then there is the name-calling from both sides. Neither is better or even different from the other.
  20. The original post perfectly describes those on both the left and right, which differ only in the areas of control they wish to assert. The true antithesis of the person described in the original post is the libertarian.
  21. Loyd was a super nice man with a mischievous sense of humor and he will be sorely missed. My thoughts are with the family.
  22. I hope anyone with an unaltered pet will make the effort to take advantage of this assistance. Unwanted pets are SUCH a huge problem and despite efforts to bring attention to the problem, it just seems to be getting worse...
  23. I think there is a lot more talk of respect than actual displays of reverence when people are not in a public setting where their actions can be seen. If you want to call them out for protesting (a right that is much more important than any song or game) at least don't suddenly go all indignant over the amount of money they are paid when they were making the same obscene salaries last season and you were all too happy to cheer them on.
  24. Use a little common sense and recognize the difference between opinion and fact. Half- truths are just that; they do not tell the whole story and the other half by definition must be lies. Ask yourself why you are not being told the whole story. But mostly the first thing...use a little common sense. Or recognize those whose opinions are bought, paid for and broadcast far and wide.
