  1. Waste of trees and money. Same for the pamphlets...same vague 'promises' from each candidate. Just more meaningless political talk.
  2. if you do the bird's eye view on bing and rotate to view from different directions it's pretty obvious that each shot is made at a different time/on a different day, too. they're all pretty much composites of aerial or satellite photography, if I'm not mistaken, including google earth
  3. Yeah, way to go people! til their kid is injured as a result of this misuse and they file a lawsuit. or maybe they'll damage the thing and the taxpayers can foot the bill for the repair, or both...then you'll really have something to crow about, huh? Pools are designed to be safely used for swimming; fountains generally are not. Not everyone would rather see their tax dollars spent destroying other countries and then re-building them...
  4. Oh wow, you're right. Making thoughtful, informed decisions on behalf of those you represent and with whose money you've been entrusted is a terrible approach! What could Mr. Graham possibly be thinking? Generally, re-stating information you've already been given can also be called verification or confirmation that you've heard and understood correctly, or for the purpose of clarifying all or part of that information. When you say he wants to justify his seat, are you saying it's not justified? That a certain portion of the county's residents don't deserve or need representati
  5. That's a cool shade of blue. I like it.
  6. Probably for the same reason yours was. Silliness.
  7. Then obviously the nearest fire station isn't still almost 8 miles away from your home. If the increased odds of losing everything in a fire weren't motivation enough to vote for the SPLOST, you can bet the annual premium you'd pay to insure your home would do the trick. So basically some of you think it's okay to let everyone help pay for you to have the services you need only to have you vote against the tax that might help expand such services to those still without them once you've gotten yours? Mighty neighborly of ya.
  8. Sure would be nice if someone with some factual and reliable information would put a stop to the speculation and rumors.
  9. And still you have children and pets left inside parked vehicles...often with the windows rolled up or open only an inch or so.
  10. Yep. Could have been put on property belonging to her, such as rental or vacant property, without her permission. Maybe she did live there but was returning the unauthorized sign to its owner after removing it from her yard. Or maybe it was put in the wrong yard and she was correcting the mistake. How many people are going to risk being charged with theft for taking a yard sign from another person's property in plain view?
  11. The legality of it is irrelevant. Can't speak for Surepip, but to me it looks trashy, like the litter that it is. Why would any sensible person place multiple signs for the same candidate at the same exact location? Do they think the voting public is too slow-minded to read a single sign as they drive past?
  12. Ruth was a great lady. I doubt she realized the number of people in whose lives she truly made a difference...
  13. be doubly true for you if your wife does see it...
  14. A taxpayers responsibility doesn't end with filing a return...if they owe, they should pay. And they should be grateful for reduced interest and elimination of penalties offered under the amnesty program. The state is entitled to (and these days probably is in dire need of) the money it's due. If it takes a 'scary' commercial to acheive the desired result, then so be it. They could be waking up to tax agents kicking in their door or having their accounts frozen and their assets seized instead.
  15. So his bedroom door was open the second time you checked? I wouldn't have just locked myself in the truck, Ida been gotten the HECK outta there altogether. Doors just don't open by themselves. (At least one of those big 'ol bugs from the Orkin ads wasn't waiting for you when you went into his room)
  16. I assume with $25000 mortgage interest per year this couple has a much higher income than the couple in the first example (else how could they afford their mortgage or even qualify, for that matter?) Deductions only reduce the taxable income. Credits are deducted from the tax owed. Two different things...
  17. I'd be curious to know whether the person was actually driving the lawn mower in the road. A license isn't required to operate a lawn mower...I've heard of this happening before to someone driving on the right of way on a mower and I'm not sure I agree with it unless the mower is actually being driven in the road.
  18. Not sure what you mean by the run-down part but Confederate Avenue is the part of 61 north of the red light that's inside the city limits, from the intersection w/Memorial Drive out to the cemetery. I think it's a pretty nice area, myself.
  19. I was there about an hour ago and it only took a few minutes. at least as old as me cause I waited in line there all day once. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE! and only just managed to get my tag before they cut the line off and closed for the day at that.
  20. I was gonna gloat about being off work today til it occurred to me that off or not, I'm at the office anyway. Bah. But I'm leaving shortly, I can't listen to my pup whine at me for too much longer. He hates when I bring him here...he's bored out of his mind. So here's my semi-gloat, anyway - I'll be outta here in a few. Hope you have a good day. Maybe it'll liven up around here soon & help the day pass a little faster. Happy Easter!
  21. Yeah me too. I got too many weeds need killing to put down sod right now, anyway so probably just as well...
  22. Wrong. Born & raised here, expect I'll be here when I die, too. Probably still in the same old thrice remodeled fixer-upper house I bought over 20 years ago. Not because I'm trapped there (and I probably couldn't give my place away right now), but because for better or worse, it's home. We've had to adjust and watch much of what we knew and loved about this place vanish over the years ; we've seen the communities where we've spent our lives morph into something completely different - not always for the better. We had no choice-many of you all did. Excuse me if I'm not overwhelm
