I encouraged my wife to try Food Lion's here several times. She put her foot down and refused to set foot inside any Food Lion. Several years ago we were on vacation in NC and she was treated extremely rudely in a Food Lion by a store manager. I was willing to give them another chance, my wife was not. If I remember correctly, that store ended up with a 2 or 3 dollar windfall that day. That 2 or 3 dollars has been brought up hundreds of times in at least 4 states by my wife. My forecast is the Ingles in Dallas on Highway 6 will be the next one to close. Management there doe

We have a 3 way stop sign in front of our house where a bus stop is assigned. It blows me away at the high percentage of people who blow through this intersection when kids are waiting on the bus. I have called the Sheriff's department and asked for this intersection to be watched during the mornings when kids are present.

So glad to hear its much better. We will give it a try this weekend. It's a terrible shame the recent operators did so much to destroy the Catfish Den legacy. We tried it twice while the former operators were there and put it on our "Do Not Visit Again" list.

Among Prison Populations, Which Religions Predominate?
mojo413 replied to eym_sirius's topic in RECENT TOPICS
While I am not an expert on human behavior I think you have hit the nail on the head. It sounds to me like you care for your neighbor. I'll bet a large percentage of criminals deep down inside cared for no one but themselves immediately before they got into the trouble that got them into prison. I think the study's results were skewed. The results might have indicated which background each one surveyed came from. Being from a background is not an indicator of what kind of life a person had chosen to follow. I might tick some people off. I feel people make their own choices -
I certainly am not an attorney. And I do not live in Hiram. I do have friends in Hiram who are nervous about the future dealings of the newly seated group. My recommendation to them is to contact the State Attorney General. I am of the opinion if any laws have been broken, those are state laws. I too have reservations about the Paulding County District Attorney conducting a fair and impartial investigation of this situation. I am one who feels having a fair and impartial investigation will 1) bring any violations to light. 2) cause those in leadership to operate with accountability.

Sounds like the charge is operating / driving a vehicle on a public road with an expired registration. If that's the case I would think you do not have a chance of getting the ticket dismissed. I do not think there is such a thing as being charged with owning a vehicle with an expired registration. If so, I'm in trouble. I have 2) vehicles with no tags. Both of those I turned the tags in when I took them off the road. When I have the money to fix 1) I will call Southern Towing to take it to Marotti's to be fixed. Then I will insure it. Then I will go to the tag office and get a temp tag

Another local site has reported current Mayor Jack Paris resigned tonight. Former Mayor Carmen Rollins resigned in the summer and was replaced by Councilman Jack Paris. I think he then ran for Mayor unopposed. Carmen's husband ran for a Council seat and won. I'm not sure if he ran for Jack Paris' former council seat. I am not very well versed on Hiram Government because I do not live in Hiram. I just happen to remember past Paulding.com topics.

Several years ago I got a stop sign ticket in Acworth. I felt I had a remote possibility of either being found innocent or getting the ticket cost reduced by the judge due to the intersection address being wrong on the ticket. I was there for the appointed court time on the ticket about 6 weeks after getting the ticket. The district attorney opened court telling us he would be meeting with each person to discuss our cases individually. He also told us he represented the court and officers and to be careful in giving up information that might be used against us. I waited about 3 hours

1971 to 1975 while dating my wife, she and I both worked in a K-Mart in Greenville SC. Her in Ladies Ready To Wear, me in Home Improvements / Paint. Back then K-Mart was one of the 2 big boys in the retail business going head to head against Sears. About 1972 or 73 Wal-Mart was almost an unknown name in the major markets and opened a store in our town in an old closed down Sky City building. My store K-Mart store manager would send us department managers out occasionally to do competitive shopping at Sears, JC Penney, Woolco and TG&Y. Very seldom we found a price needing to be lowered.

We got a coupon in the paper recently and decided to give the Hiram location another chance. We had never had a real problem there before, it just wasn't anything better than average during the past few years. Kind of a Burger King experience on a plate instead of in a bag. We were really caught off guard when we went this time. We expected average off set with a coupon. We were surprized... The dining experience was off the charts GOOD. From the time we walked in, every aspect was wonderful. The menu had all kinds of specials included. The server had tried them all and made everyone

Really good question. I hope whomever paid my son's layaway off someday knows how much they helped him. My son was an out of work custom door builder. Several years ago he was making good money. We all know there is not a need for custom built doors now. He worked in a shop with about 40 door builders and was the last except the owners family to get laid off. He worked every job he could find and honestly reported work to unemployment. Unemployment ran out and he found a job as a labour on a landscaping crew. He works every day rain or shine for about 1/3 of what he used to make. Last week h

My oldest son and his girl friend just went to K-Mart to pickup their 4 girls layaway. 1 cent was due. My son called me to ask if I was their Secret Santa? I'm not and I do not have a clue who paid it off. Thank you very much to our Secret Santa. You will never know the life change you put into motion.

As to her size... I wouldn't know. Every time her or her husband show up on my TV, I change the channel. And about the guy who made the comment... I haven't got a clue who he is. -
Maybe that's where the title King Jerry came from?

Bank of America Settles Lending Discrimination Suit
mojo413 replied to zoocrew's topic in RECENT TOPICS
$335 million is just pocket change in the grand picture. Bank of America bought Countrywide for $4 billion in January 2008. In 2007 Countrywide had $408 billion in mortgage originations and serviced 9 million loans worth $1.5 trillion. My guess is Bank of America had the risk well accessed and got Countrywide for a small portion of what it was worth and held back plenty of money to be used to settle pending lawsuits. Don't forget the bale out money Bank of America got, bet you they are still laughing behind closed boardroom doors. -

Yes certainly 1 example of a jerk who should never serve and protect us again and 1) example of an officer who made a terrible mistake. Concerning the second officer, how many of us can relate to making the same type mistake by looking at something and it not registering in our mind? On police officers in general. The many I know are professionals who's desire in life is to serve. Before I read the original posting I had the unexpected opportunity to be in the Dallas Wal-Mart yesterday morning when the local police officers were helping kids shop for Christmas. I am guessing 100 officers? -
If the world of Wally Paid its 1.4 Million U.S. Workers a Living Wage,

I'm not in favor of wanting to roll back time and do things the way they used to be... 1952 my folks got married and bought a 2 room house from my mothers mother. 1954 they got "indoor plumbing". They had never had "indoor plumbing" before. 1972 I bought my first house. The payment was 2 weeks take home pay. 1975 I was out of work for 2 weeks. Unemployment in my town was 18%. Men were lined up around a rental car place trying to get the 1 job washing cars in the winter. I got a job in a concrete plant making minimum wage because of my mechanical drawing teacher from high schools recomme -

I'm just a little offended with the attitude of much of our country right now. I watch the "Occupy" groups on TV news sitting on their butts protesting the evil banks and big business. I've seen people come in dressed in shorts and flip flops with no phone numbers or addresses for me to use to check their former employment and they want to start at the top with full benefits, top pay and a company vehicle to start. This giving them a living wage is a bunch of bull. How about preparing yourself, presenting your talents and skills, working hard starting at entry level and progressing up the -

I've got to disagree with this plan. I know from first hand knowledge Wal-Marts pays honest, hard working and loyal employees fairly. My mother in law was the production manager in a sewing hall for many years. After the plant shut down she went to work as a receiving room employee in the Wal-Mart 2 blocks from here home. She started at Wal-Mart with better pay and a better benefit package that she had in the sewing hall. She always worked hard, was very loyal to Wal-Mart and bought the maximum amount of stock she was allowed through the payroll deduction plan. She stayed there -
I have much the opposite reaction to this question. I come from an area of the country where beer & wine, and liquor were sold in separate stores. Local governments would have elections to determine if sales could only be made in separate state regulated stores or if you could bring a brown bag into an eating establishment or if you could buy only beer & wine, or liquor in an eating establishment. In that area elections were always separated between beer & wine, and liquor. So for me this election was quite a surprise for me including beer, wine and liquor all on the same bal

Cobb County made me a believer last summer. I got a $143.00 lesson on reading speed limit signs. The really nice, calm and soft spoken officer explained to me the sign instructions to me are "Speed Limit", not "Suggested Speed", not "10 over Allowed" and certainly not "Minimum Speed". We were both so nice I thought he went back to his car to write me a warning ticket. I was wrong... Cost me $143.00 to understand they understand the signs say "Speed Limit" and they are out to catch me and take my money. So now I set my cruise control 1 mph under the posted speed limit. Riding my bu

Mugger "Attempts" Robbery of UFC Fighter

Sad thing about it, we might later hear the robber sues the victim for violating his government protected right to rob someone without unreasonable abuse and resistance from a victim. How dare we violate a criminals rights to abuse innocent people.
