My straw that broke the camels back was I found out the hard way not to park at SunTrust early and walk over to Martin's to get a cup of coffee while I waited for SunTrust to open so I could make a deposit. They tagged my truck with a sign that stated the next time I parked there they would tow it off. Finished my coffee and walked back over to close my accounts instead of making the planned deposit.

It's funny how one person will have a good experience and another will have an opposite experience. For us SunTrust takeover of Community Trust was a nightmare. Tried for 6 months for SunTrust to get our accounts right and they never could. I closed out 4 accounts and went to First Choice who was taken over by Bank of the Ozarks. Change over there has been a pleasure. Our house was financed with Countrywide who got took over by Bank of America. Tried to do a refinance and they tried to stick it to me. Then we applied to Regions and it was wonderful. Now I can't wait till the first of

This video is still posted on the Channel 2 website. I'm sure it's just a minute or so snap shot of what went on during that night. One thing the reporter mentioned was that the Sheriff's Department does have the same video(s) and additional charges are being considered.

Things heat up between Airport and watchdog group

From what I understand a plane's taxes are paid where the plane is registered. One of the commissioners told me very few planes are actually registered in Paulding County. I think the number is around 3 planes registered in Paulding County. $8,000.00 per year sticks in my mind as the revenue generated by planes registered in Paulding County. Back several years ago when I was watching county budgets closely the airport went about 3 or 4 years running a $1,000,000.00 + budget and operating cost per year. That was before the airport actually opened. Now that we have a terminal building, fuel -
What are they building next to Wendy's at crossroads?

I agree with you, I would love to have a CFA here. However you and me don't get a direct vote, only CFA gets to vote. We do indirectly have a voice by visiting our local CFA's often to help build each units sales to the point CFA sees value in adding another CFA in our community. -
Things heat up between Airport and watchdog group

From what I understand we are stuck with King Jerry's personal landing strip. If we walk away from the airport we (local taxpayers) are on the hook for around $50 to $55 million in federal and state grants. So meantime we have no choice but to make the best of it as an airport. Maybe there was a good reason no one else in our state had built a regional airport in the last 30 + years. Remembering King Jerry's interview in the AJC "it's like free money, not one penny of local tax money spent". Liar, liar, pants on fire... about a million per year local tax money from the county spent each -

Surepip your comments are welcomed on my screen. Your updates give me good ammunition for discussion each time I bump into a commissioner out in the community. I think your situation and many others are in direct comparison. Citizen's tax dollars spent on private agendas and pet projects without public accountability are important issues. Personally I feel your situation and the millions of local tax payer dollars spent at the airport are similar occurances. I remember seeing the developer on your project and a former commissioner eating lunch together one day. My thought was ___ & __ -
Well actually the senior prank is taking the wheels off the cars. The ones with the lug wrench and lug nuts in their pockets shouldn't get charged. The real criminals are the ones who loaded the tires in the get-a-away vehicle.

Certainly looking forward to these theives being arrested. I certainly hope they are charged and sentenced to the fullest extent of the law.

We have seen this week its not now OK to paint the street in front of East Paulding High School. Painting the street can get you expelled from school, arrested and charged with a felony. My point is... in the future I think anyone stupid enough to get caught painting the street risk a real possibilty of being expelled from school, arrested and charged with a felony. Moving forward would you advise anyone to chance it? I would not.
-
Sad thing is that with some defending the actions of those who were only part of the senior tradition, I'm afraid there will be a small number who will still see painting the road as an acceptable practice. My heart goes out to any caught doing this in the future. I would hate to get caught supporting this tradition in the future when a Sheriff's deputy happens to ride by.
-
Be interesting to see if anyone will be dumb enough to return to paint more on the road this year or next.

Not looking for an answer. Just a thought that came across my mind.

Remembered posting like this that made it sound like some of the young adults felt nothing was going to happen to them. Made me think if during this week while they were attending if they thought they had gotten off Scott Free?

Well I'm glad to see this is being handled. There was so much talk because nothing seemed to be happening. If indeed it turns out the students involved with trespassing and vandalizing the school property were expelled I myself think the school administration has handled this criminal damage issue well. Let the sheriffs department and court system handle the criminal vandalism to the school, vehicles, neighborhood sign and painting on the street. Somewhere else I have read someone mentioned had the damage only occurred to the intersection paving this might have turned out differently. W

I have a friend who lives in West Cobb who has experienced terrible AT&T cellphone service the past few days. He can stand beside his wife and call her in their home and either the call will not go through or the call will be dropped. He called AT&T today to complain and found out the cell tower serving their area is out of order. AT&T issued him a nice credit due to the problems he is experiencing. Now me, I've never had anyone at AT&T acknowledge any fault with their service.

My Mom, Dad, teachers and school administrators must have never read any of these study's.

I totally and absolutely agree with you except on 1 point. I do not think the sign getting painted or the traffic or cannon noise has devaluated your property. Even with this one incident I feel EPHS will still be seen as a good school and therefore I am of the opinion the school's proximity to your home will bring increased value, not depressed value. Now devalued or depressed home prices is a whole different subject that can span from Paulding County allowing so much wide spread approval of PRD's to Fannie May, Freddie Mac, Federal Government, Bail Outs and anywhere blame can be plac

I most likely will upset half the people. Here is my suggestion for sentencing. 6 months (26 weekends) served while housed at the county jail. Arrive before 6pm each Friday. 1/4 day credit for each Friday served. Eat supper before arriving, no Friday meal provided. Provide your own work boots, uniform, work boots, rain suit and gloves. No phones, TV's, Internet or talking allowed till 5:05am Monday morning. Wash county vehicles till 10pm Friday night. Rise at 6am each Saturday & Sunday morning. Jail provided bagged breakfast, lunch and supper. Pickup trash on road sid

Any word on the injured mans condition?

I am absolutely appalled at the damage done to our beautiful school campus by a small group of criminals. I have faith in our judicial system that each participant will be sentenced to the fullest extent of the law and that the school board will access every possible sanction and penalty against each one involved. I trust with good, strong and fair penalities applied to this group, the under class men will learn from these few's criminal acts and act maturely to protect our beautiful campus in years to come.

Maybe you heard the joke about the customer leaving the bar in Alabama? There was a bar in Alabama where there was a reputation of it being somewhat roudy. The local police officers were known to often sit across the street and catch drunk drivers as they entered the highway. This one night just before closing time the officers observed a gentleman staggered out the front door and appearing to have a problem finding his own car. He stopped at car after car and tried to open each one with his key. Finally after many attempts he found his car and was able to open his door. He fell int

I imagine Michael Fay would advise these kids to not spray paint anything.

Things have changed since I graduated in 1971. Our Assistant Principal of Disipline Mr Bricker in South Carolina would have beat our butts with his personized paddle, expelled us, then sent us home for our dads to beat our butts. But then again we didn't have federal protection from beatings back then.
