Question about couple raising money for their sick daughter
Stuck In Traffic replied to Einstürzende's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I always find it odd when they are on one side of 92 and the Shriners are on the other. Perhaps the Dad would like to put the sign down and talk with one of the Shriners if treatment is what they really need for her.........not cash..... -
I so hope you are right...........that would be WONDERFUL (but probably not good for my diet)

The town itself is great. There are many old places to visit, including the fountain of life. Much of it is touristy but still very pretty. The lighthouse is also cool. It has been on ghost hunters before. The beach in that area is also pretty, but you can drive down the coast road toward Daytona and see some BEAUTIFUL beaches in that area. We also love to do the ghost tour--not the driving one but the walking one. Our guide was great and we learned alot about the area. There is also an old fort for exploring. Plus, if you like to shop, there is a nice outlet mall right up the road by

I need a room at the beach this weekend
Stuck In Traffic replied to hornetmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Hate to say this but if I were you I would not go to the Alabama shores or any of the panhandle this weekend (unless you are below Ft Walton--though some maps show the bulk of the panhandle being spared this weekend). They are getting oil in the National Seashore which means that the beaches in Alabama are probably going to get some this weekend and I have read that there is a petroleum smell in the Perdido Key area. This is just awful. Saw the picture of the pelican last night when we were sitting down to watch some television. My daughter took one look at it, we are from the coast, and ju -

WTH! No Recognition for Honors Students
Stuck In Traffic replied to missytater's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The first time I was really exposed to this was when my oldest was in high school. One of her friends, an honors/ap student, decided to drop out of her more difficult classes during her junior year so she could beef up her average and move into the top ten...........she was the salutatorian. So you are completely correct, real honor students are not necessarily those wearing the robes or in the top ten in the class. -

Hopefully their scholarships will make up for the lack of recognition during the ceremony. -
Excellent but sadly true post

The reason no approval was given on that is because the building of the barriers in front of the land would funnel the oil toward the Mississippi coast line with the currents, simply moving the oil from one state coastal area to another.

Thanks for the info. We have also noticed an increase in the ticks this year. Will be dusting this weekend!

We have it at work. I put two envelopes in a bottle of water and it is great!

How many Band of Gold parents are on here?

There are a slew of us (both current and alumni parents/students).......Welcome to the party -
We have patched carpet before but it is not easy, you have to cut the hole clean, make sure the carpet is in the right "grain" direction, and secure firmly (my hubby used some kind of tape he got at Home Depot). If you decide to just throw a rug over it, I can send you some of the stuffing that my dog tore out of my couches as filler.........,

I am not really sure about this map. It does not show any oil on the beaches in Bay St Louis and the surrounding areas and they have been picking up the blobs since last weekend (not just a few either). I wonder if this is only showing "concentrated" oil? The folks at home say the stuff is nasty and smells pretty bad, not what I would want to be beaching or swimming around. Seriously thinking about skipping the beach this summer. -
I'll give you half an amen on that one........every time I stop and wait to turn I am totally paranoid about someone hitting me from behind, not paying attention and flying down Nebo. But, to your other point it would get even more difficult to get out of the subdivision. I usually just to go the other entrance/exit to go and come. It is slightly easier that way.

which condo's are you in? are you on the beach? we usually stay in Mariott Bay Point for about that much but it is not on the beach.

We have had ours twelve years. We have the large with the custom table. The gas grill has been sitting next to the egg for twelve years and has not been turned on once. Wouldn't trade it for anything! Large is just right for a family of four. If you are on facebook, check out their page. It has great recipes and smoking tips.

Perhaps he is related to the lady with the silver volkswagon that terrorizes everyone on Nebo and sometimes Ridge Road. The one with the fair tax sticker in the back window of her car..................ARGH to have a "word" with her one day!

Sorry for your ex's losses. We were fortunate this time in that area. But while you don't give a crap about the oil, remember that many of the people that live there make their living off the water and quite frankly it has sucked since the storm. Many were just starting to see some light.......
