This is just horrid. I sent a message to my BIL, who is a semi pro fisherman down there, asking him what the real word is on the oil spill and how it is going to affect the barrier islands. Waiting to hear back from him. This region was hit so hard by Katrina and just when they thought it was beginning to produce again.........THIS.

While it is a good idea, this economy does not favor mom and pop start ups. You would need a major bankroll to survive until your idea caught on, if it did. Also small business loans are very difficult to accquire right now. And finally, to really rain on your parade, most people that eat this way on a consistent basis are going to prepare these foods in their home so they can control everything that goes into the dishes. You might just need to wait until people's disposable income frees up. My husband worked as a consultant in the restaurant industry for many years and one thing he would

My daughter to me she wanted to bring her IPOD to school. I told her after what happened to her tennis that if her IPOD suddenly vanished I did not want to hear a word about it and no way was I going to replace it. I saw it a couple days ago so I am guessing she decided not to take it or she has been lucky (so far).

Pair of brand new tennis early in the year at Hiram. No more good shoes at school. It is just crazy.

lets all remember our "fun" Spring Break years:)

Grew up on the beach so pretty much any day that the sun was out and we could get away with it was Spring Break........ah, those were the days -
Headin on down to Universal to watch the kids perform (from the looks of this thread they will have plenty cheering support) and at the same time enjoying an adults only vacation (yes she will be having fun with the band and we will be having fun with our friends (while watching her)).

So does anyone know if Paulding is looking at this as an option for next year?
-
I actually don't think the plan Haralson county has been looking at is too bad. The only issue is the Monday care and that would definetly be a problem for working parents--daycare and babysitting can be crazy expensive.
-
That is a really good idea. The rec leagues seem to be really good in the area and that would prepare the kids for high school teams.
-
Which administrative person would be handling that or would you have to hire someone to do it?
-
As a business person I am sure you realize those cards would be an administrative nightmare, an additional expense, and would require time on the bus for checking.

Tennis is one of the exceptions. Group organized sports generally ends after middle school when the kids start with the high school teams. Truly, how would you like to be the parent of one of those 20%? No, I am not a sport parent.

You know the problem is that the fund raisers are like squeezing blood from a turnip. I just cannot ask people to buy items when I know they are having difficulty themselves making ends meet. I know you were kidding (maybe) but it seems like the worse the situation gets the more that comes out in the way of fund raisers.

Well, lets see, not everyone pays for lunch due to their financial situations. Now you want to charge people to ride the bus. Are those that qualify for the free lunch program going to qualify also for the free transportation program? How is the bus driver going to know who has paid to ride and who has not........what if Johnny rides home with Bobby to work on a project? Should we just issue Marta cards and install a change bin on the buses? Thinking out of the box is one thing but thinking out of the galaxy is another completely. Why don't we take a look at the overhead in the central o

Amen! We love ours. It is a 2005 with about 120k miles -
NewsJunky, you sound like one of the very fortunate people that either does not have a child involved in the budget crunch in schools or has a child that does not require medication or possible emergency care. As the parent of a child that falls under the ADA and a taxpayer in Paulding county I am personally affronted by your comments in regards to the nurse program and the children that require the meds and assistance. Having dealt with the nurse many times at school, I can tell you there is NO way the administration has the time or medical education necessary to assist the children. Why d

Got a four runner and an avalon........Love them. And while Ford has done some nice things lately if we are gonna talk about recalls let me just say one thing in regard to Ford.....PINTO

How about Nebo from Dallas Nebo to 92 and Dallas Nebo to Ridge (Kroger). Of course since I did not make it up the hill in the subdivision I am not really sure why I am asking LOL (actually Hubby coming home from work and I am worried about him making it home).

Headin down on Saturday but we are gonna spend our time on the Miss Gulf Coast. The parades are still great but the crowds are a little smaller and I feel a little more comfortable with my teenage daughter there.
-
LOL Not a problem. Been a member of the Who Dat Nation since I could manage to say it so I am used to deflecting the comments of people talking about the Saints. Just glad it won't take me as many words to do that any more! It is really nice to see the underdog take the bull by the horns and FINISH STRONG.

Sorry you cannot handle it when your team does not win and you have to compensate for it by saying that everybody "gave" them something. Guess what, a blue collar team just beat the super Colts.......what do you know. And I don't think she was being defensive with you. I think the point is that maybe, just maybe, it is time to give the Saints some credit where it is due.

Been a Saints fan for longer than many people on the board are old...........Could not be happier! Shed my tears of joy and know my Dad and my FIL enjoyed the festivities from their armchairs in heaven......WHO DAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

not yet...he was at practice today and is traveling with the team to Washington. I hate to see him go but he was holding them hostage with his salary demands. I just hope we can get someone GOOD for him in return. I still think we got an outside shot at making the playoffs this year.
