My heart goes out to her. First to have a physical defect of that nature discussed on an international level must be horrid. Secondly, because she has this defect (supposedly)will we say she cannot run in either the male or female division and discriminate against her? And yes, I do understand she has an advantage over the women but she is still not a man and therefore should not run in the mens division where they would have an advantage over her.

My daughter was diagnosed when she was six (almost nine years ago). When she has a flare we stay away from fresh fruits, veggies, dairy, and anything with nuts. That leaves startchy foods (potatoes, white rice, white pasta) and lean meats (chicken, fish, and turkey). Fried or greasy foods do not seem to sit very well with her. in speaking with many parents I have also heard that peanut butter and caffinated drinks can be an issue during a flare. We truly believe in our household that diet is 90% of the battle and while the diet we use may not be real varied it is nutritious and does the j -
Would you say anything to the Mom about getting her kid under control? We are arguing about this right now at work. One guy says he would tell the Mom she needs to control her kid. I said, you just need to leave the area cause that Mom is gonna come unglued on you for telling her how to raise her kid.

Another Hiram Freshman Band Mom here and I have been wondering the same thing all morning. I really hope they get to march tonight. She was so excited yesterday and this morning she was so depressed! I too will be in my Gold shirt.....I am sure I will stand out from the crowd (HA-HA)

Wonder if our kids know each other? Camp Oasis particiant? My daughter had her first colonoscopy at six and they mixed hers with apple juice. She has refused apple juice ever since then. If I want to make her nervous in the grocery store I just stop in front of the apple juice section. Too funny!

Brooke cuts all three of us gals in the family's hair and we just love her. Always have a good time when we are there and come home with a great hair cut!! -
Is the Camellia Grill still open? I was not sure. That was a weekly ritual for us. Ride the car down through the district, brunch at the grill, then back to the quarter for a little shopping in the market. Nothing like it in the spring........

We like to take the trolley through the garden district, lunch at Cafe Maspero is very nice, take a stroll through the cemetary (you will find listings for them on the tour sites). Some unbelievable pieces of sculpture in there. I grew up there so after all the family trips to clean the graves I am pretty comfortable by myself, but if you are nervous about prowling around one alone, take one of the tours.

Need opinions about my daughter's braces and ortho
Stuck In Traffic replied to wbp's topic in RECENT TOPICS
YEP, give her Motrin (or tylenol) before she goes in for her visits and make sure she really knows how to use the wax they give her for the sharp points on the wires. We also used Dr. Mc. He did two sets for my oldest daughter (her treatment required two sets at different times) and my youngest set. We really liked him (obviously since we have been his patients since he was in the old building down by the PS police dept). Just tell her the pain will be worth it when he takes those braces off! -

I am sorry, I should have explained my question better. You mentioned having the ortho take off the braces he just put on your daughter. I was just wondering how much he is going to charge you for the work he has already done. That cost plus whatever you find somewhere else (if you can find something less expensive) might wind up being pretty comparable to what you are paying now and if that is the case would you want to put your daughter through having the braces taken off and put back on somewhere else. If I remember correctly from my kids, her mouth is probably pretty tender today. -

About a thousand more than I paid for my daughters, but that was also three years ago on a two year plan. Be sure your friends that are telling you 2000 and 2200 are not just telling you what they paid after the insurance was deducted. Also, how much is this ortho going to charge you to take the braces off?
