  1. My hubby tries to 'mute' me with the TV remote!
  2. If we could all retain that child-like faith, I think the world would be a much nicer place.
  3. Woo-Hoo!!! Thank you so much! My daughter and I are really looking forward to this event!
  4. I've heard them mention on the show that they have several commercial rental properties and some car lots. They built the house themselves, Jim Bob and the boys, as they could afford it. Seems like Extreme Home Makeover came in and finished the place up for them. They are very frugal - shop at thrift stores for clothes, etc.
  5. The link did not work for me, either, and other articles were a couple of years old (not that it matters). People or businesses who hire a Santa should always do a background check on the person hired, or at least ask for and check references. There is so much more to being Santa than simply putting on a red suit. We know many Santas (hundreds) from all over the world, who are professionally trained, and who are dedicated to being the best representatives of the Spirit of Christmas. Unfortunately, one bad apple tries to spoil the whole lot, and those are the ones who make the headline
  6. Leiter's Big & Tall shop, in Marietta, just north of Kennestone Hospital.
  7. Haven't tried it myself, but had a friend who used to mix it with every juice they drank - I think 50/50 mix. She swore by it!
  8. There is one on Hwy. 92 (Hiram-Acworth Hwy.) just north of E. Paulding.
  9. Yea!!! I finally won something! Thank you! Love Neil Patrick Harris!
  10. Neil Patrick Harris Doogie Howser
  11. Those were the days! We looked forward to mother buying a real coconut so we could 'help' her prepare it for the cake.
  12. My friend has it. She does yoga and stays out of the sun.
  13. My SIL makes the recipe with the cake mix above, but does not put the coconut on top. Her family does not like the texture of the coconut either, but the cream of coconut gives them the taste they like.
  14. This is basically the recipe I use, but I make holes with the handle of a wooden spoon (bigger than a toothpick!) while the cake is still warm. I use condensed milk and cream of coconut (found in the mixed drink section)again, while the cake is warm. When cooled I put the cool whip and I use the frozen fresh coconut on top. Great cake!!
  15. I love getting together with my family at my mom's house, but she is 91 now and doesn't know yet if she will feel good enough to have us all (about 30 total). I offered to have T-day here, and have had it in the past, but it's not really the same - just something about going to mom's. If it's just me and the hub, we'll probably just eat out somewhere (Cracker Barrel). Oldest son has just this weekend moved to Orlando so they won't be coming, daughter will probably be working (someone's gotta fly those planes on T-day!), youngest son will be going with the wife to her family thing and will b
  16. We'll probably have one large, real tree(kids still insist, even though they are grown!) and I have several 'ornament' trees (like wrought iron, to show off special ornaments, like Old World, antiques, or just Santas, etc.) I have 3 or 4 of those in sizes from about 1 foot to 4 feet. I'm thinking I'll use some of these down the center of my dining room table -we'll see!) My SIL made me a 'feather' tree which also is used for special ornaments (usually use this one for travel or kitchen). Also have a few small artificial trees (1 foot to 6 feet) and a couple of ceramic trees. Not sure how
  17. The electronic one is really a lot of fun if you can't the version you're looking for.
  18. I think they should raise the fine to about $10,000 and start enforcing it. Maybe hitting those litterbugs in the pocket really hard would stop some of the mess. No respect for anything or anyone anymore.
  19. My cousin's tree was used a couple of years ago. She called Macy's and asked if they wanted it. Macy's sent someone out and they said "YES!" The tree was in her mother's back yard (planted by the daughter when she was young!) The property was being sold commercially and the tree was going to be cut anyway. Macy's removed the tree using a crane to lift that 70 foot tree over the house and onto their truck. Congrats!! An experience you'll always remember!!
  20. Well, they do have to have time to decorate it and get it ready for the lighting on Thanksgiving, which is only 2 weeks away.
