  1. I was almost as bad, I waited until 17 or the learners was about to expire (2 years). I know that at 16 I was way too sure that I knew everything about driving. Two years later I had the accidents to prove it. (Luckily none major)
  2. Couldn't find a picture of the actual sign, but they have this on the web site (from the NBAA show?). You would think it's located in downtown Atlanta if you try to read it more than 15 ft away. Seems kinda silly, Cartersville hasn't seemed to have any problems and it's not called the Cartersville Atlanta Airport.
  3. My cholesterol also jumped 20 points looking at it....
  4. But having the word "Atlanta" bigger than Paulding on the sign isn't going to help that. Are they trying to get the Atlanta Airport Authority to buy it now that it's built?
  5. Dang. I looked under the re-unification portion. Fruit loops is right... I guess the "Big Lie", is still alive and well over there. More like anyone crossing in the North Korea with a camera is shot on sight...
  6. It is in writing, in the SPLOST wording in the ballot. The first $50 something million will be used to make payments on the existing bond debt. And in a way, you are correct, the bond payments will not change, just the SPLOST will be making them instead of the property owners for five years. The way I read it, the bond payments are the primary use, so only if there is extra funding will that be available to the board. Now, granted, the wording of the second part is bothersome as it appears to be a blank check for just about anything, but unless the economy recovers a LOT in the next
  7. LMAO!! Did you see the name of the shirts? Me thinks they need to check out the English to Korean dictionary a *little* closer.
  8. They can, but if enough people vote by moving their service like you did, they'll change their tune. As long as people will let them, they will do it. For me, to get the bundle only saves $5 and the long distance would be $5 so I haven't bothered. As far as cell phones, for my family of five, it's about $145 a month to share 700 minutes (the minimum) and unlimited family texting with AT&T, but we are not bundled. (without the unlimited texting, my daughter would bankrupt me in a couple of months). Next time the contacts expire I'm seriously looking at going with a pay as you go compa
  9. Or if they can read the sign from the air they are so low *I* sure don't want to be flying with them....
  10. The Chinese govt owns most of the factories and we're stupid enough to tax our own companies to the point where they can't compete. Therefore, all the sales are of Chinese goods which are cheaper, and they are making a huge profit off of us. They have so many dollars they don't know what to do with them.
  11. First a disclaimer: I do not live in the 19th, so I won't be voting in this race. But as one who lives in Paulding, I have an interest in those that will be representing our interests as a county as a whole and who's votes will affect the county as well as the state as a whole. Maybe it's just me, but to me the above quote from the article seems to boil down to "I'll do anything I want to get what *I* think *I* deserve and anyone who thinks differently is wrong!". She felt she deserved payment for the damage of a certain amount and the company was questioning it. Even in her own words t
  12. My dad has been a die-hard Republican, with one exception... he used to vote each election in the Democratic Primary if Larry McDonald had an opponent just so he could vote him in the general election for years until the Russians shot down the airliner that Larry was in. Larry was a super conservative Democrat if there ever was one. Source
  13. Yes, one of the big hits is that the Child Tax Credit, that started at $250 a child and was grown to $1000 a child, will go back to $500 in 2011. So if you have 2 kids under 16, you taxes will go up 2x$500 or $1000 a year. If you have 3 kids under 16, make that $1500 a year.
  14. HSA's are losing the ability to pay for Over the counter, but as far as I've heard, nothing in the Health care bill makes the high deductible insurance illegal yet. Of course, the Health Care Czar may change that one they set him/her up.
  15. I read this and found it interesting. They have an estimate of how much our withholding will jump on the first check in January 2011 if Congress and the President let the tax cuts expire. They also note that we could end up paying extra for a month or so in 2011 because of the time it takes to get the tax tables updated and entered into the various payroll systems even if the extension is passed, but not until Nov 15th or later. I dunno about the rest of you, but even saving $300 or so in county taxes a year is chicken feed compared to an increase of $200-$300 a month in federal taxes. T
  16. I was going to Southern Tech in the early to mid 80's and had to drive by the Cobb Tag Office down the street on the 120 loop. They had a pretty big parking lot and a shopping center near by so parking wasn't the issue, but I used to be amazed at the length of the line as it got close to deadline for the tags.
  17. If I recall correctly, that was a band-aid to try to fix it from where everyone's tag was due by March 30th. So, of course, lot's of people would forget or put it off to the last minute. There were stories of people standing in line for the entire 8 hour day and not making it to the door trying to get their renewal. It was nuts. There was a LOT of push back from the rural counties against going to an all year tag program because they didn't want to have to fund the tag office year round. They had one or two year round employees that handed vehicle purchases part time and paid a coupl
  18. Wait until you see the neighbor with a full sized acetylene welding torch and Oxygen tank. Now THAT is flammable. Our neighbor used to make Acetylene/Oxygen balloons for the Forth of July. A balloon just a little bigger than your fist and it would sound like a half stick of dynamite going off. I have no idea how much energy would be present in a 5 foot 2000 psi tank of Acetylene, but it would be a LOT! But really, looking at mineral spirits as an accelerant: 17. Paint Thinner (mineral spirits), Paint thinner or mineral spirits is a complex petroleum distillate; flash point rang
  19. I suspect the taking of the new tag *does* hit the state because otherwise that $20 would have been almost all pure profit. (That sticker can't cost more than a dollar to get printed). Now they have buy more tags. Wish now I hadn't waited until the last minute to do my wife's on line... I'd turned her's in too... Well, we keep getting the government we vote in...
  20. I've heard that too... also heard that they are waiting on permits to continue the pipe of the stream on the property to start grading.
  21. Interesting. It's been 10 years for us here, so I need to change all our detectors anyway, I'm going to have to look into this.
  22. Wow, I can imagine what a mess we would have been in with an elected Super. I agree, the PC School system is a HUGE business with 30+ locations and a huge budget. Not something for an amateur to run.
  23. From the same article: Of course, the Democrats are going to actually try this with the Health care plan, instead of paying your bill, you can buy insurance while you are in the emergency room, then drop it after the stay. Wonder how well that will work.
  24. I feel quite sure that they would have helped get anyone trapped in there out, THEN let it burn. Life and injury have different rules than property.
