Anyone familiar with Flexible Spending Accounts?
The Sound Guy replied to sharee.smith's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That is correct. It was passed as part of the Health Care Plan. To help pay for the health care plan, they are increasing taxes by not allowing OTC meds to be purchased with pre-tax dollars after Jan 2011. It sucks. Make sure to adjust your FSA to account for this when you sign up for next year this fall. -
I'd love to have written news on Pcom, the equivalent of a real news site. The video news is worthless to me, I won't even watch the TV news, it's all fluff and ratings. I'd be happy if Pubby would just post his script for the video in the next post in the fastnews page, then I could pick out the parts I'm interested in quickly and leave the rest. JMHO.

My wife and I have noticed that about a lot of movies from when we were younger. Our theory is that over the years, we have seen them on TV many times since we watched the original years ago and of course, those have the worst of the language and the nudity cut out. So we just forgot about it. We bought Caddyshack and Roadhouse in the last couple of months and were amazed what we forgot was in those movies.

Is it possible to be struck by lightning while inside?
The Sound Guy replied to Caped Crusader's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Not struck, but my understanding is that the high voltage/current in the strike generates a huge magnetic field also. If you have wires that happen to be across that field, it can get damaging. Your headset may have become a receiver. We had a strike on a tree in the front yard, approx 50 ft from the front of the house. It magnetized part of the screen of my daughters TV, blew my audio amp in the basement, blew my nice $90 Ethernet switch, and fried the control box of my chaser lights. (it was christmas and I had the lights outside). Lighting is interesting stuff. If you real -
Don't see the roof as being the issue, if anything, it should shield the interior from stray EMI, esp if grounded. Dad has a metal roof and no problems. Can you see the modem from the computer? If so, when the internet is down, is the LED blinking to signal it's resyncing with the DSLAM? We did have a problem that after it rained, we'd have problems for a day or so until the line dried out.

Mayberries for the best "It's so hot ..." Joke
The Sound Guy replied to Floyd's topic in RECENT TOPICS
How hot is it? It's so hot that: I walked by a mausoleum and the doors were all open A nudist colony called off it's annual cookout because of burned buns. A wino was spotted drinking straight water from a fountain in Centennial Park. A vindictive Atlanta judge deported a mugger to Macon. Reports that the Flames had let town were believed to be exaggerated. No one laughed when they said the Braves were gonna get HOT when they get back to town. For safety's sake the Snellville city Council banned the Sunday sermon of the the local fire-and-brimstone preacher. -
How about a civil discussion on the 19th district race
The Sound Guy replied to lotstodo's topic in Paulding County NEWS
You are correct, as the law is written now, it is pretty much useless for school growth. Special interests gutted it before it passed withholding the ability to charge for schools, one of the most expensive parts of supporting a home. Four years ago, those concerned about the $125 million bond being realized that if the county's taxpayers were not to see *another* bond of that size every 5 years or so, something needed to be done. I wrote Sen Heath about the issue and he wrote back that Jerry's BOC had shown no interest in Impact Fees, they were quite happy with the BOE being the he -
Significant Weather Advisory for Paulding, GA
The Sound Guy replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It sure dumped a lot of rain up here!! Thank goodness I got the grass cut earlier. It had lousy timing however, we get in the pool to enjoy the sunshine, 20 minutes later it's solid cloud cover and 20 minutes after that we're getting lightning strikes. <Sigh> Gotta love Georgia weather... -
Another possibility is that the mowers have been out in north Paulding. They can knock them down as well as mulch them. North Paulding also had one heck of a storm on Wed, I wouldn't be surprised if a few signs got knocked over in that one.

One nice thing about having family locally, we'd end up moving in with them I'm sure.

Why is it that after I've cut down a tree, they tell me I should then cut it up?

The Sound Guy replied to lowrider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Whew!! I've had days like that before... Love it! -
We noticed that on Dabbs Bridge Rd yesterday. We were thinking "Wow, that was quick!" Another "Thank you" to the candidates and their supporters. Good luck in your future races.

I believe that the runoffs are always three weeks after the main election if they are needed. I'm not sure on the other. If you voted in the Democratic primary are you prevented from voting in the republican run-off?

Great docu on the 9/11 conspiracy
The Sound Guy replied to dumbestgirlintheworld's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't think the word you are looking for is "fact" I think it's "rumor". But even the sites I've seen admit that discuss it admit it was a vague warning about flying, not that they knew anything about what flights or where/when the attack would happen. -
Great docu on the 9/11 conspiracy
The Sound Guy replied to dumbestgirlintheworld's topic in RECENT TOPICS
While I think it's always wise to keep an eye on the government, I think you are looking at this with a little bit too much 20/20 hindsight on this one. Before 9/11, no way in HECK does a President (or anybody else) order a shoot-down of a airliner, hijacked or not. Before this, NO ONE, ANYWHERE, had used airliners in this way. Hijacks were all ransom attacks or to get people released. I'm willing to bet the first thought was that this was to try to get the WTC bombers released. I can see it now. They shoot down all four airliners, killing everyone on the planes and who knows how man -
Long live Pascual "I-285" Perez!!!! Anybody else old enough Braves fans to remember him?

Just read in the AJC where it looks like up to a 100,000 people may have voted for Cox. Several comments are saying that there were no signs reminding people. It would be an interesting court fight for the loser in the election to try to get it re-run during the run-off. Get Schooled
