  1. That is what my husband used last time he got poison ivy. The tea tree oil dries things up. Make sure it is a pure, decent quality tea tree oil. It made a difference with his poison ivy over night!
  2. I voted NO (thanks for catching my error), you should be able to understand American English well enough to pass the test! But this actually touches on issues other than just taking the test. Actually, I think you should speak enough english to be able to give simple directions to a 911 operator before you are allowed to drive! What if you are seriously injured in a car accident in an area that doesn't have a lot of traffic? The other driver doesn't speak english (or, as someone else pointed out, spanish) very well. They don't understand when the 911 operator asks for the location o
  3. That's one of the reason's I no longer live in a sub-division. And why I don't let my kids use the playground in the sub-division at the end of our road. If you don't live there, you don't pay for the playground/pool/tennis courts or what ever and you ARE NOT ENTITLED to use them. That's the attitude we got from SOME of the people who did not live in the sub-division that were caught using the pool. The problem is, SOME of these people will do more than threaten. If they are arrested, they will try to get back at you or your kids.
  4. It's on Highway 278 at Cadallac Parkway, between Dallas and Hiram. It is right next to the Greystone Power Company Office. The address is: 115 GREYSTONE POWER BLVD - DALLAS, GA 30157 The festivities start at 10am and will end around 3pm. There is a fee for the horse/pony rides and the games/crafts. The cost is $5.00 for the horse/pony rides and the price for games/crafts start at $1.00 each. There is NOT a fee or cost for the egg hunt.
  5. I just got an e-mail from Amazon stating that they are making their Kindle e-books available to be downloaded to PC's and Ipods. Don't know if they have started that service or not, but if you can't aford any of the reader's or if they are too small, that might be something that would work for you. Also, a couple of the books that my husband bought in the last year listed the publishers web sites where you can read their books. I think Baen (sp?) is one of the publishers that have some of their books on-line.
  6. Saw this a while ago. They can't ship them to GA. They have to get a permit of somesort from the state to sell that type of stuff in GA. But I donn't blame them, caskets are EXPENSIVE. One of the guys my husband works with had to bury is dad a few months ago and the cheap, no thrills casket was $12,000!
  7. The last story I read (It's been a few days) Said that there were no permits issued for that weekend for anything like that. Some people are talking about the "business" it would bring to downtown, like rented hotel rooms and business for the resturants (I laughed when I read that one!). but I think that they forgot, the kids don't stay in hotels for this event, or if they do, it's like 10-20 kids to a room and they trash the rooms... The problem was, they drove away more business than they brought. No one wants to be around kids/students when they act like they do during Spring Break!
  8. ewwww! I don't want someone to wear my used panties, which is why I won't even donate my kids used underwear! I certainly don't want to wear someone else's used panties! ewww, just ewwww!
  9. They still report the milage on our vehicles and they are all 1995's. It's one of the things they record for the emissions test.
  10. So you don't agree with me that you don't have to relearn? Then I guess all those people who ended up in accidents and in the ditch during the first snowfalls were driving the first time ever on snow? Don't think so. The majority of them are people who were absolutly certain they knew how to drive in snow. Maybe you would prefer that I had said that it is a skill that you have to remember every year? (unless you live someplace like Colorado or Canada, where they can have snow anytime of the year)
  11. I say no. Yes they have more experience. But part of the problem is people from the North who move down here and haven't seen snow in several years. Then when it does snow they forget what the first snowfall of the season is like up north... Drivers in ditches and accidents all over the place... SAME as down here!! But by the time Februrary or March comes around, they are used to driving in snow, we are not. The difference is that it is ALWAYS the equivalent of the FIRST snow down here. So unless someone has just moved or is visiting down here, they can't drive in this stuff any bett
  12. Didn't know they were open yet. We will try it. We have been looking for a good burger place that was close by. We tried Cheeseburger Bobbys, once... Now, when the kids are misbehaving, we threaten to take them there for dinner. Amazing how well behaved they become after that threat! No we didn't like their burgers and no we will not go back. Hopefully this new place will be much better and not as expensive!
  13. Oh, then it's a good thing they already announced that schools will be closed all next week!
  14. My son is Aidan Asher Asher is from the Bible and means "Happy" Occasionally he will try to get us to use the nickname, Ash (Like the Pokemon main character) instead of his first name. We don't use nicknames, so if he wants to use Ash, he will have to wait until he is older! Aiden (alternative spelling) Ian
  15. Dish, DirectTV or Cable, same crap, different companies. Dish and Direct will both give new cusomters the better deal than old customers, just like Comcast. Almost every satellite/cable business does this. They figure once you have their service, you won't bother to change or complain. When you do complain, they will usually give you a token amount off, for a few months, then raise your rates up even more. Had a customer no-service problem with Dish in 2001. I had tried for over a year to get them to send us a rebate that they owed us. They kept sending us to a disconnected number
  16. Celery with Peanut Butter or Cream Cheese... Just don't do what I do and have a little celery with the PB or CC! Make sure its a small amount of PB Or CC with mostly celery Celery is crunchy, filling and takes a while to digest... I don't really care for it, so I have to have the PB or CC! I saw the suggestion with pineapple cottage cheese, I'm going to have to try it... I love pineapple cottage cheese! Also Carrots with low-fat ranch dressing or some low-fat cheese. If you can find it, a really good dressing to make is the Weight Watchers plain yogurt with Hidden Valley ranch d
  17. Good thing I wasn't eating or drinking anything when I came in here! I laughed so hard I would have had to clean my computer screen!
  18. If it is not professional, then we have had a lot of un-professional Presidents! Don't we have pictures of Abraham Lincoln with the "Chin Curtain" beard? If it is kept neat and trimmed, I think it is very professional. Personally, I think that boss that said a beard is not professional is jealous. I suspect he can't grow a good beard and doesn't want anyone else to grow one either! Years ago, when my dad was starting to get gray hair in his beard, I though he looked so much more dignified with the beard than clean shaved. Still do. I still think a well maintained beard can be
  19. Putting the key up on a hook by the door is such a great idea... NOT... If you can reach it, your kids can figure out a way to get it. We had those child resistant door knob covers on our outside doors, my daughter figured out how to take them off when she was 2... My sister has to but their prescription and other medications in a safe, her son figured out how to open the "childproof" tops when he was 3 or 4... I was less than a year old when I climbed on top of the fireplace mantle in my parents house to get to a bowl of Christmas candy my mom had put up there. She was trying to
  20. Makes me glad we are on a well... well, at least until the pump burns out!!
  21. Contact the 4-H Horse and Pony Club... They know all the local places to ride... If you have a child who is interested in riding, they have lessons for a real good price (have to be a member to get that price) Their meetings are the first Tuesday of the month at 7pm at Bethany Christian Church. It is on Highway 61, just south of Hiram-Sudie Road. Contact the 4-H office in Dallas...Its at the county extension office, by the hospital... 770-443-7616
  22. We've had Sirius for 3 years now. The only time I don't have a signal, is like people said, in most parking decks, but then I don't get AM radio in most parking decks either... The only complaint would be lack of real time traffic, since none of the stations are local... That's why I was listening to AM radio, they have better traffic reports than FM or Sirius... Yes, there is a traffic/weather station, but it is not local and you have to listen to the traffic for Miami if you want to hear about Atlanta traffic.
  23. No prices listed! Won't waste my time even finding out more if price info is not readily available! And I have looked previously on your web site, no price info, haven't been back!
  24. Geez, there was less drama in getting the permit than there is in asking about how to get one on Pcom! Going to ranges that rent guns before you buy one is an excelent suggestion! Just cause you like what it looks like, doesn't mean that you will like the way it handles when you shoot it. Get your permit before you get your gun. That way you do not have to go through the background check twice and you can take your gun home with you right away. Also, make sure you understand where you ARE NOT permitted to carry, you don't want to get in trouble for that type of thing... Mak
  25. Now I want chicken n' dumplings... But I won't eat those nasty flour dough things you call dumplings... I grew up on German Dumplings and they are not made with white flour. They are also a real pain to get right. They are Farina, eggs, butter and salt. Drop by spoonfulls into the broth. If you don't get the consistancy just right, you either have a rock instead of a dumpling or you have Farina stew... They either don't cook all the way through, or they fall apart!!!! But if you get them right, they are soooo good. I used to make a big pot full (and I mean big) and I
