  1. You don't see me on here raving about any of the resturants around here. Nothing in Paulding County, in my opinion, is good enough to rave about. Most of them are good enough for when I don't want to cook, but nothing special! But, I also don't usually come on and say anything bad either. I really do hope that they make it, I hate to see any small, family business close up. But for us the experience was just not worth repeating. And if Alcohol and adult patrons is the answer to their problem, I wonder why the bar down the road keeps getting new owners and then closing afte
  2. Well, I really hope the change works better for them than it did for Calbalbo's! Personally, we will NEVER go back to them, smoking or not. 1 really bad experience is all I can take! We haven't been back since and that was over a year ago! Food was not worth the extra couple of miles to go there, service was OK, once I complained!
  3. Paulding charges because it's not a dump, its a transfer station. They have to pay somebody else to deal with our garbage, and that cost is passed on to everyone who gets rid of trash here in Paulding County. They don't have the facilities to mulch or otherwise deal with yard waste.
  4. I don't remember what my ticket was for. Just that the judge said "Pay the fine, Next case" It may not matter what the "book" definition of the word "gore" is. What will matter is how the judge and the county officers use the term. If they consistantly use the term "gore" for that area of an intersection, the judge will not accept your argument. You might want to get a laywer who specializes in traffic court to answer that specific question for you...
  5. PC is not the only ones to do this. I got a ticket for the same thing in a Chicago Suburb in 1984. That's why I stilll have a hard time going into those areas, and it really makes me mad when I see someone else do it and get away with it! There are some exceptions, like the suicide lane (1 center lane used by traffic going in 2 directions for turning into businesses) in front of the post office and the Ingles/Big Lots/McDonalds area of Dallas... In this case, if the officer says he violated the yellow line, he will most likely end up paying the fine!
  6. Yup, just called. Still nothing on their web site though!!! School is closed. Wonder how long it will take before they start the automated calls...
  7. Just got a notice that there are still 17 roads closed in the county. Don't know if that will be considered in the BOE's decision to keep the schools closed or not...
  8. No automated phone call, yet and nothing on their web site: http://schools.paulding.k12.ga.us/ischoold...p?district_ID=2
  9. Keep your garage door closed as much as you can. If all the other garage doors in your area were closed, they were looking for something to take. A lot of people do not close the garage door when they make a 5 minute trip to the grocery store, burglers know this and take advantage of it. If you are not in the garage or in the front yard, keep it closed! That way they don't know what you have in there and they don't know if you are home or not! Open garages are easy targets, even if you are home! And next time tell them "Of course he bites, he's a dog!" Then they won't get out of
  10. Bike riders are required to obey all traffic laws, the same as a car. If there are stop signs and they do not stop, they are not obeying the law. I once got stopped for riding my bike the wrong way on a one way street, and I was on the side walk, not the road. The officer informed me that any time I was riding my bike, I had to obey vehicle traffic laws... Which is why it drives me nuts to see bike riders riding on the road facing on-coming traffic, instead of riding with traffic! (I understand the reason, still don't like them doing it!)
  11. Family size is something each husband/wife team needs to sit down and talk about. Only the two of you can decide how big a family you want. If there are no extenuating circumstances that is Siblings are not always close. That often depends on how close in age they are, if they are the same sex or not and how many of them there are. It also depends on how the parents treat each child! Mine are very close with each other. They are also only 18 months apart age wise. That may change once the older one hits puberty! I came from a large family, my husband came from a large fa
  12. I had hair down past my waist. Got it cut short in February, regreted it as soon as the stylist was done, still hate it and can't wait for it to grow out again. I've had short hair before and didn't think it would be a problem, boy was I wrong!!!! I also found out that it takes more time and effort to keep short hair looking nice than it does for long hair!! Hubby doesn't like it either, of course he had never seen me with short hair!
  13. They normally have the Trick or Treat Village the Saturday before Halloween. Normally, Halloween does not fall on a Saturday, occasionally, like this year, it does. But they are still having the Trick or Treat Village the Saturday before!
  14. I've worked with people like that. I have always felt sorry for people like that. They don't enjoy life very much... they are too busy working! Worked with one guy that was complaining that his raise would not even cover the rise in cost for heating his house... He had a big house, in a fancy neighborhood. He was always complaining that he couldn't afford this or that, that he had to work overtime just to make the house payment! Several of us told him to shut up, quit complaining and to buy a house he could afford!!!! Worked with another woman who just couldn't understand why
  15. I always hate when they give out "Settlement Credit". I don't want to buy another of their products I want cash!!!!!!!!! I got a settlement from Kodak when they got sued by Polariod for their instant camera's. I got a $50 coupon to use on the purchase of a $$$$$ (high priced) camera. If I had the money for a camera like that, I wouldn't have purchased their version of a "polariod"! What a total and complete waste of time and paper. The only ones who "won" were the lawyers!!!! They got the cash, I got a worthless (to me) piece of paper and a camera I couldn't even give away!
  16. We use Diatomaceousearth (AKA DE)... This stuff kills the fleas, the eggs and the larva, it is all natural (if you get the right stuff) and the fleas can't develop a resistance to it. You want the all natural, only ingredient is the DE products. You don't want it mixed with anything else. You will need to reapply, usually after a rain or if you water your yard (which will drown the pests), wait till ground is dry to reapply. We also use Sevin dust, the lower concetration, but you basically have to make your pet "white" with the powder for it to do any good, and it can cause problems wit
  17. TV. We already don't have network, cable or a dish, so we don't have TV anyhow. We do watch a LOT of videos, though, does that count as TV? And after seeing what is available on TV we won't be getting Cable or a dish anytime soon!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  18. He pays the electric bill, so I put on a sweater and when I get in bed, I warm my cold feet on his back!! I sleep under the sheet and 1 (summer) or 2 (winter) folded quilts, while he sleeps under the other half of the sheet and no quilts! If it is really cold in the winter and I am home and he is not, I will nudge the thermostat up a little. I usually remember to tell him that I did that!
  19. Growing up we would freeze enough corn to last a whole year, for a family of 5 and we had corn almost every night. That was a couple of hundred bags of corn, all of it cut off the cobb before being frozen! Parboil for 3 minutes, immediatly put the corn into ice water to cool down. Then either bag the ears or cut the kernels off the ears and bag. Pop in the freezer. When ready to eat, just microwave, season and eat! We always thought that corn frozen on the cobb tasted too much like the cobb, so we never froze it on the cobb. I know lots of other people who did freeze it on t
  20. How about 8" floppies and data cards, card punch machines and card readers... now I really am dating myself!!!! How a gig of memory was a geek's dream, and a luxury most could never afford! When the experts said "we will never see computer prosesor speeds of over 1gig in our lifetime" (The 1980's) Desktops that actually took up the whole desk and had less than 256 k bytes of memory! Our cell phones have more memory than that now! Waiting for the cursor to move during a "Pong" match. Pong being the 1 and only video game. Waiting for weeks for your new prescription glasses to be
  21. My kids like lemons, so the lemon juice would not have worked with them. They both remember the "bite medicine" (hot sauce) had to use it twice for biting... and they still cover their mouths when we use it on our eggs! Never had much of a problem with bad words. (Thank goodness!) The first time, I asked them if they had ever heard mommy or daddy say that word (what ever it was they said) They hadn't. We told them that we don't say them and we expect them to not say them, and that if I or daddy ever heard that word again, they would get their mouth washed out with soap. One child
  22. OK, I should never have looked at this topic... I had to go get my favorite treat... Frozen hot dogs, right out of the package. I also like my chocolate chip cookie dough frozen! Black olives do not make it to the table, unless the can is opened at the table! And who can resist "tasting" the cake batter to make sure it tastes good! I like my apples, pears, peaches, bananas etc cold. I keep them in the refrigerator.
  23. You should be notified if you qualify for Tier I about the same time as you get your last payment for your original claim. If you don't get notified within 10 business days after your last payment, go in to the office and find out why you didn't get the notice. Keep filing your claim every week after your benefits run out, or you will not qualify for the extensions. More information is available on the GA Dept Of Labor web site: http://www.dol.state.ga.us/ The specific web page for extended benefits is: http://www.dol.state.ga.us/spotlight/sp_ex...s_available.htm They have m
  24. Everything is at it's "normal" back to school prices. They should be having the real sales very shortly. Wal-mart is still putting their stuff out. We were in the one on 120 today and there were still lots of empty spaces in their "back-to-school" supply section. They are starting school at about the same time as last year, 1 week later than the previous school year. Then they added a week of vacation in February, so school ended 2 weeks later this year than it did last year. They are doing the same thing for this year.
  25. Yippii. I hate being forced to breathe other peoples smoke! And I really hate those A$$es who just drop their butts on the ground or throw them out their car window! By the way, Paulding County wrote their first ticket for throwing a cigarette butt out a car window a few weeks ago. The fine is $250.00 for littering, for one cigarette!
