  1. I can't think of a good question... Can I come back with one later?
  2. That says "I'm from the (insert any government agency) and I am here to help!"
  3. Mine started yesterday, Couldn't even get onto the internet at first, then all of a sudden, i'm connected. But ever since then, I keep getting those "what is your password" messages, which do not connect you to the mail box. If I go to outlook and click on the "Send/recieve" all button, it seems to pull everything down, but I haven't checked to see if it really is or not.
  4. Darn, then we missed you... OH, well, maybe next year. Candy is NOT cheap and I understand budget cuts and all that. I figured that was why there were fewer vendors and fewer county offices there. I just figured with the economy so bad, that more people would attend a free event... I hope that they can continue to do this event. It is fun and there are not a whole lot of family things that you can do that are free or relatively inexpensive. We don't tend to go to Cobb or Douglas County for much of anything, so it's nice to have something like this here in Paulding.
  5. We had fun. But as we were leaving I told my husband the same thing. There were noticably fewer vendors. I remember the first year we went, traffic was backed up all the way into Dallas. Not this year. We got there around 3, and it was fairly crowded, but by the time we left at 4:30, there were a lot less people. We also noticed that there was more paper in the kids bags. Most were advertising various church festivals for this Friday or Saturday. Don't mind the advertising, just so that they know, at least in our house, the papers were immediatly sorted out and tossed int
  6. Sometimes even the stupid get lucky...
  7. Don't know if they are traditional or contemporary, but Dallas First United Methodist Church seems to be a good church. They are in down town Dallas, just off the square... That is where our Cub Scout Pack meets and the people there have been real good to us.
  8. It is from 2pm - 7pm this Saturday and it is FREE. Last year there was a hay ride and some other things that charged a small fee, but trick or treating for the kids is free. Be sure to wear your costumes. They also will have a costume contest at the stage. The ages/times will be posted at the stage. Make sure you have a sturdy bag to hold all the candy and goodies!
  9. Hey, I'm from Illinois and I know to stop for funeral processions. We stopped where I grew up. Don't know if it was the law or not, but there are some things you always stop for and funeral processions are one of them. Ambulances, Fire trucks and police cars with the sirens on are the other ones you stop for!!!! Of course we were also taught to say a prayer for the deceased every time we went by a grave yard...
  10. Hot Chocolate and and a couple of shots of peppermint schnapps... Actually, I think my recipie is actually the schnapps with a little bit of hot chocolate!
  11. We are going on Saturday. Don't know any reason to change it from that day. The only time they change it is when it falls on a Sunday or a weeknight.
  12. I get e-mails from Paulding SORBA (Southern Off Road Bicycle Association) and they have a dirt bike trail (bicycle, not motorized) that runs along side the Silver Comet Trail in that area. They notified all their members that that trail was closed and why. They will be doing a lot of the volunteer work to get the trial cleaned up and fixed back up, once the county approves it to be re-opened. Their web site (if anyone is interested) is: http://www.pauldingsorba.org/ If you are looking for another place to walk/bike, the trails at Mt. Tabor Park made it through the flooding with al
  13. The floods washed out part of the trail and some bridges and caused mudslides. It is closed until they can repair the damage and stabalise some of the hills near the trail.
  14. For those that don't know about scouting: Scouting's Bottom Line What happens to a Scout? For every 100 boys who join Scouting, records indicate that: • RARELY will one be brought before the juvenile court system • 2 will become Eagle Scouts • 17 will become future Scout volunteers • 12 will have their first contact with a church • 1 will enter the clergy • 5 will earn their church award • 18 will develop a hobby that will last through their adult life • 8 will enter a vocation that was learned through the merit badge system • 1 will use his Scouting skills to
  15. The "minit" Clinics in the the pharmacies will do a quick check-up for about $30-60 depending on the problem. Usually very short wait (if any) and you can get the prescription filled at any pharmacy. I did this when I got a sinus infection last year, probably will have to do it again this year. Sinus infections are an annual event for me!
  16. The state web site is: http://www.georgiastateparks.org/info/picketts/ It doesn't have a whole lot of information. They used to have a web site: pickettsmillpark.org but that is sending me back to the state web site. The phone number is: 770-443-7850 They are only open Thursday-Saturday 9am-5pm It is unknown how much longer the site will be open at all. Services at the park were cut drastically due to the econmy...
  17. I just found this article from Newsmax.com http://www.newsmaxhealth.com/headline_heal.../15/272595.html 1. Seasonal Flu Shot May Double Swine Flu Risk A Canadian study found that people who are vaccinated against ordinary seasonal flu double their risk of catching swine flu. The unpublished study has stunned government agencies and thrown national vaccination plans into upheaval as well as tested the public’s faith in the government’s ability to protect their health. Although many experts are skeptical of the study’s results, several provinces in Canada have announced plans
  18. My mother-in-law got the regular flu shot. Got very sick within a few hours. Dr's told her she had a "reaction" to the shot. She had the shot in the past and never had a problem. She also told me and everyone else that she knows, that after she got sick from the last shot, that she WOULD NOT be getting the Swine flu shot. And for those kids with Asthma, the latest research shows that kids who have asthma, who get the shot and then get the flu, have more serious complications than those who didn't get the shot. They classified serious complications as ones that required hospitializa

  20. This is their web site: http://www.gaworkready.org/ When you put in Paulding County, it sends you to Chattahoochee Technical College. They do the test in Paulding County on Friday's at 1pm. This is straight from their web site: Pre-registration is recommended. There is no cost to take the test. Please contact Tammy Hufstetler at thufstetler@chattahoocheetech.edu to register. There are other locations and times, but that is the only one in Paulding County. For everyone else... This is a program where you take several tests to "prove" to companies that you are ready to work
  21. Less than $800.00 for the wedding, that was 11 years ago. Most of the money was for the dresses, mine and my matron of honor. And we invited everyone in the church, about 100 people showed up. The reception was in the church social hall and we got the cake and food from Publix. I just love their cakes and they do an awsome job on them. I also knew in February that we were going to get married (he proposed on Valentine's Day), so I bought a bunch of the Valentine candy when it went on sale. The chocolate I kept in the freezer (Dove milk chocolate in heart shapes!) and the other types
  22. They used to sell the kits at Michael's, don't know if they still do. Some schools won't let you use the kits, and it may be too expensive. I think they were like $15.00 - $20.00 for a kit. I bought one for my son a while ago, we still haven't built it yet.
  23. Yup, probably! But the love seat probably fell off of someone's truck and they were toooooooooo lazy to go back and get it! I did find this information on the Paulding County Government web site: That was cut/pasted directly from the website, don't have any other information than that... So to the OP, if you have more flood debris, call that number, those drop off sites are probably free. They do have some other flood related information, it is on their News and Information page... For those who do not have it, the website is: http://www.paulding.gov/newsupdates/
  24. Stupid question, but what do you need to do to prove you are below the income requirements?
  25. Paulding no longer has any dumps. Everything is shipped to another county to be buried in their dump site, or is recycled, if dropped off at the recycle center. Tommy has tried to get more recycling programs put in place, but most of those programs cost money (at least to get started), and the county doesn't spend a whole lot of money on it's trash... They recycle glass, aluminum and food (tin) cans, some types of plastic, paper and cardboard. It is free to drop those items off at the recyle center, which is in front of the transfer station. The glass, cans and plastic (water bottle
