Mr. Dis, You know I love you. You are way smarter than I am in math! I am glad that you are helping to pay my retirment by contributing to the retirement fund at the county. (Don't get mad at me for saying this. We have known each other too long!!! You know I'm joking, but thanks just the same. I say invest all you can into some type of retirement so that you can live comfortably when you are old. I know you want the best for your family. I think you are doing the right thing by looking into options now of how to take care of your wife and kids when you are old and/or unable

I love Amtrak. We took it from Atlanta to Washington DC. It was a long long trip. Next time I will upgrade to one of their bedrooms. It got old sleeping in a chair. When we would have to get up to go to the bathroom, oh the lovely sights we saw. Men and woman snoring with their mouths open, woman with rollers in their hair etc. We still talk about that trip and it was about 6 or 7 years ago. Going from Atl to DC we got on to an almost empty train. Coming home it was a different story, we got on to a full train and the 4 of us were split up. This wasn't good for my sister beca

Yes it is. I have lived in this area 15 years, not in one of the fancy subdivisions, just on a dead end road off of DB. Hey did you hear we are getting a Dollar General out of way? LOL When my husband and I were dating he gave me directions to his home. He drew me a map and I kinda laughed at the "big" pasture he drew on it on Dabbs Bridge Road. When I was driving to his house (now our home) and I came around that curve and saw the "big" pasture I was in awe. It's just beautiful out there. Once I actually stopped on the side of the road to see a beautiful sunset. I know, I know what

Dabbs Bridge Freeway now the Dabbs Bridge Raceway?
Mrs. Jack Russell replied to The Sound Guy's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I am glad it's now 45 because 35 was too low. On the other hand those who went about 60 anyway now go faster. I don't care how fast others drive, I will do 45. I just ask for folks to stay in their lane. I have almost been hit several times by cars going to fast for a curve. Someone is gonna get killed out there. I hope it's not me or you or any of our loved ones. -
If you could do anything when you grow up..
Mrs. Jack Russell replied to dumbestgirlintheworld's topic in RECENT TOPICS
In high school I was asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I said a professional bum. I am living that dream now! Let me explain.....I had no desire to go to college. Right out of high school my twin and I got hired at Southern Bell. After working there 6 months we were laid off. (Remember a million years ago when they started charging for 411, LOL) We then got a job with Cobb County Police Department. 30 years later I retired. I have been living the life of the professional bum for 5 years. I love getting a pay check and not having to work. My younger sister says that I'm -
I have found rolly polly looking bugs in my strawberries too. What can I do to get rid of them? TIA

My younger sister had this surgery years and years ago. She was in her teens and she is almost 50 now. Back then she had to wear a brace before surgery and then a body cast for almost a year after. I am sure that they have advanced alot since then. They had to take some bone out of her hip to fuse with a rod in her back. I believe she had more pain in her hip than her back. It was tough on her back then, but I have never heard her complain of having back pain. She is a itty bitty thing, right at 5 feet tall. The doctor said she wouldn't get any taller and he was right.

Trixie's Treasures I wish you the very best in your business. I still love the apron that you did for me!!!! What would you charge to engrave a name on a small metal thing? LOL I don't know what you call it. We have a plaque and we update it when the troop has a new Eagle Scout. If you need to see the plaque I can take a picture for you later. Also the troop will be needing t-shirts for summer camp. They use the same company every year because of the set up fee. I'll see if my husband wants to get an estimate from you. Best of luck to you and your busness!!!!!

Y'all be careful out there this morning! It's coming down hard here in NE Paulding. Try to leave a little early this morning. Watch out for the other guy. It's okay to be a little late and arrive safe at your destination. It's days like this that I am so thankful I am retired. I hope it's still raining when I go to take my nap!

So...what's up with the drivers on the road today?
Mrs. Jack Russell replied to subby1's topic in RECENT TOPICS
This is so true. Yesterday I was on Business 6 at 381. I forgot I had to turn there and I slowed down to get in the turn lane. There was a Mazda there that I almost rear ended because my brakes did the anti lock thing. Thank God I didn't rear end them. Man, that was a wake up call!!!! Edited to add: It had just started raining. I was driving slow, but apparently not slow enough to stop without almost hitting that Mazda. -
I'm sorry your son was in an accident. I'm glad he wasn't hurt. My opinion only....if the guy wasn't on the road driving drunk, your son wouldn't have hit anything. Just saying. I hope all goes well for you and your son.

Your son needs to take her to court about visitation. Did they not set up visitation when they did the child support? I wish the best for the child. The child deserves to know it's grandparents. Shame on the Mother for not allowing it.

I'm not sure how I will vote on this. I will do further reading before I decide. I just wanted to remind folks that you can vote early the week before the scheduled voting day. July 23-27. There are 4 locations and the main office. Just FYI I will be working at the Cedarcrest Library, come see me.

I agree the speed limit on EW Parkway is crazy low and called a speed trap by at least one on here. If it is a 4 lane road with a median, it should be 55MPH in my opinion, but who am I to say. LOL
-
Library girl I have a question. I saw on the website a while back that you can check out a parking pass for State Parks. Is it as easy as walking in and checking on out or should we call ahead to get one? TIA
-
Speed limit changing? When? Can't wait to tell my husband. He's the guy who drives 36 MPH backing up all the traffic. I drive 45 on Dabbs Bridge and will continue to do so. It's not gonna be pretty out there...now folks will be doing 60 plus. Scary.

Riograce, thanks for posting this. I had no idea that things were changing. Has anything been mentioned on the news about the changes? It needs to be on the news or some comercials about this or your friends from work are going to have to deal with alot of unhappy people. Thanks for letting me know. I would have been one of them. Edited to add: I worked Advanced Voting and I worked on the day of elections at one of the locations. We required ID from everyone.

WellStar to break ground in Hiram Monday
Mrs. Jack Russell replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I'm not a fan of Sherain, but I would have loved to have the hospital off Cedarcrest because it would have been close to us in an emergency. Then again I guess that area would have a lot more traffic. So I'm good that it's not this close. -
I agree with JTR, talk calmly with the folks in charge. I think at this point in the building, it's your only hope of getting all the buffer with plants that you want and need.

I finally found my recipie. I got this recipie years and years ago from one of our Boy Scout's mother. 2 med Red peppers, seeded and cut into eight 6 jalapeno peppers with seeds, halved 8 cups sugar 2 cups cider vinegar 1 box liquid pectin Combine peppers and jalapenas in food processor and pulse until coarsely chopped. Add to large sauce pan with sugar and vinegar. Bring to a boil. Skim foam from surface. Add pectin and return to boil. Boil one minute. Skim foam again. Ladle mixture into 9 sterilized 1/2 pint jars and process 5 minutes in boiling water bath. I have us

My husband was prescribed this for his back pain. It doesn't give him relieve until he takes the 2nd one hours later. He also can not sleep after taking one. So he just lives in pain so that he can sleep some.

I had a good friend who was a hoarder before I knew that term. I lived with her for a while. Back then she was a compulsive buyer. She would be at a store buying stuff and then when she got to the checkout, she couldn't stop looking and buying stuff. Years later she asked me if I would come over and help her clean. I did. OMGosh......I could hardly walk thru her home. She asked if I could help her in the basement. OMGosh it was worse. I spend a day over there and all we did was go thur bags and she would look at the stuff and bag the stuff back up. I haven't gone back. I want to

Scorpions freak me out. I freeze. I have never been stung by one, but I freak out when I see one. I hope reading this didn't cause all these little critters to come out and find me. My husband just spread a bunch of pine straw the other day. Yeah for me....NOT!!!! I think I freak out because my Daddy got stung by one when we lived in Texas and it made him really sick. I think Georgia scorpions are not as bad at the ones in Texas. I don't know, but I still freak. Most of the time they show up when I am home alone. Did I tell you I freak out when I see one. LOL
