  1. My husband and I went to see the falls several years ago. This was on our 5 week trip with our dogs and camper. He brought his gun as he usually does and didn't want to cross the border. So we only saw the falls from the US side. We have been told the other side's view was better. If it was then it had to be amazing because the falls from the U.S. side was awesome. It's a sight and sound I will never forget!
  2. Also winterize your RV/camper! We learned the hard way. It's not fun to go camping and hook up the water to hear a sound and say "What is that?" By the time we turned the water off the bathroom was flooded.
  3. While your idea sounds pretty good, I just can't imagine all the kids getting into the school and on time. They would have to make sure the door was shut after each person entering the school. No one could hold the door open for another. I think it would take too long for the students to enter the building. I do think that after school starts there has to be some type of security for people who enter the building. I do think that the front offices of schools should have a bullet proof glass around the front. Those men and woman working in the front offices of schools are always going
  4. I'm not sure what type of item you are talking about, but I guess I would say yes. Once instance is years ago I bought a computer (which was alot of money for me) and I paid the Geek Squad to explain some things and help me with it. They were strangers to me.
  5. Ya'll know I am very pro police officer since I worked at Cobb PD for 30 years. I have many stories about things I saw Cobb Officers do, but this is Paulding County. Years ago my nephew and 2 other boys were painting our church's sign for a service project requirment for Boy Scouts. This was in the afternoon and my sister was there with them watching the progress. The boys got carried away and started writing stuff on the sign. Nothing illegal, ugly or nasty, but funny stuff. It was the first coat and it would be painted over. A Paulding County Deputy drove by and saw this and stop
  6. My husband is a retired police officer from Cobb PD. Who is your friend? I'm sure he never was a friend of ours.....or at least I hope not!
  7. I try to stay away from any post that might have debates going on that could turn ugly, but I couldn't stay away from this one. I worked with Cobb County PD for 30 years as a civilian and I can not stay silent about this. I will have to state I have been retired for several years, but I really can't see Cobb County doing anything different than they have in the past in regards to this matter. I also have to say I do not know how any other department handles officers who are arrested and/or get their certification revoked. Trust me when I say this: Cobb would not hire any police officer
  8. I called Karen yesterday to check on her and wish her a Happy Thanksgiving. She sounded really good and was visiting with a friend. She said the plan is for her to come home Saturday in time for the Alabama game.
  9. Karen has been in the hospital since Sunday or Monday. Monday night I read via FB that she was going to have emergency surgery. I later learned that they put her in ICU at Kennestone and were giving her antibotics and were watching her closely. She is out of the woods for now, but will be spending several days (unknown how long) in the hospital. Her main concern is that she is out in time to watch the BAMA game at home. She called me this morning and she if feeling a lot better. She was worried about orders that she has taken from some PCOM members that have come in. She gave me
  10. About 800 people came to the Crossroads Library yesterday to vote. Our total for the week 2,524. Amazing!!!! We were busy all day, but we enjoy a couple of brief moments when no one was in line to get up and move around a bit. We will be open 8AM to 7PM today. Friday 8AM to 5PM. That was probably Edwina. She is the most cheerful person I know. She keeps us going!!!!
  11. I am a poll worker at the Crossroads Library. We were just shy of 1,000 voters at this one location yesterday. 994 voters voted at this one polling location only. People are getting out to vote. This is an exciting time for our country. Hours for today are 8:00AM to 5PM. We will be open to 7PM tomorrow (Thursday) and then untill 5PM on Friday. With so many coming out to vote early, I wonder how busy election day will be.....probably busy!
  12. Hours to vote at Crossroads: 8AM to 7PM Tuesday 8AM to 5PM Wednesday 8AM to 7PM Thursday 8AM to 7PM Friday I think it's the same at the other locations, check the Paulding website to make sure.
  13. Hey, I wish you would have said hello...We had 635 who came to the Crossroads's Library to vote. We never stopped working the entire day. The cut off to get in line was 5:00 and I think the last voter voted around 5:35. We had a computer glitch twice, but other than that it went pretty smoothly. I have worked at Crossroads for the elections twice now. We never voted that many all week so it's a great sign that everyone wants to vote in this election. We will be open until 7:00 PM tonight. Twinsister and I will be working at the table...one of us making ballots and one of us writing d
  14. I think it's too late to work this election. You can call Paulding County Voters Registration. We have all had our training for this election already. It pays $10.00 an hour. That's not alot, but it helps this retired person!
  15. I'm sure more law enforcement is needed in the area the OP has stated, but what about my area? I live off of Dabbs Bridge Speedway. It's awful and how about HWY 61 N. There are just too many areas for the limited amount of Law Enforcement to cover. What is an important area to you, is not important to me. Not saying that to be mean, but Paulding is a big county. There are alot of roads that need more law enforcement.
  16. Lady Raider, I am so sorry to hear of the passing of your Mama. I know it has to be hard on you and your family. I am praying for comfort to you and your family. I know words alone can not help, but I do know that your Daddy is one happy man today!!
  17. You can call the Marshall's office to get the rules. A while back I called them to check because a friend of mine was getting her Yard Sale signs taken up. I am not sure about business signs.
  18. My husband is the Scoutmaster of BSA Troop 321 at Hickory Heights Baptist Church on Dabbs Bridge Road. Believe me if he had any knowledge of an adult abusing a boy in his troop, they would be gone. The Scout Safety program's 2 Deep policy that requires 2 adults to be with a scout at all times has been in place for years and it's a great policy. Sometimes we have Scouts come to the house for various reasons. My husband does not allow it unless I am here or their parent is coming with them. It's to protect the adult as much as it is to protect the child.
  19. I haven't seen a post with this information so I thought I would post it. Twinsister and I will be working the Crossroads Library Advanced Voting. Come and see us. Hours: Early Voting will be held Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm only in our office 21 days out from the election until the Friday before Election Day. State law prohibits voting on the day before an election. This means no absentee ballots will be issued nor will there be any voting on machines. Advance Voting Please be aware that the only difference between "Advance Voting" and "Early Voting" is th
  20. What an awesome man!!! I only met him once and that was at Paulding Meadows a couple of years ago. I told him I was Mrs. Jack Russell and he grabbed me and hugged me and told me how great it was to meet me. He made me feel special! Praying for the family.
  21. Johnny J was an awesome man. I knew he was a Mod even though he told me he wasn't. I got bullets from him. He couldn't be mean to me even when he gave me the bullets. I just knew it was him. He kept that secret to the end. What a great man!!!
  22. I went to my training last night for working the elections. They said that they had over 1,100 vote on Monday and over 1,200 vote on Tuesday. It's exciting to know people are voting.
