  1. I've survived the last 5 months YOu'd be really surprised by how small the atenna's are, they're flat and not a big whirly gig thingy from my childhood. We use a Roku box, Viera Cast on our Panasonic TV, and the Xbox. We also have a Netflix subscription and Hulu Plus. The Hulu plus has the current shows so we use that almost like a DVR and the Netflicks is for the older stuff and movies. We do have a few shows (Dr Who/Game of Thrones/True Blood) that we buy per episode via Amazon streaming, Still way cheaper than what we were paying for satelitte. On the bandwidth--we hav
  2. Antenna's direct (.com) is a good resource. That's where we got ours.
  3. We did the same thing with Lost last summer. Stay strong and limit yourself to two episodes at a time.
  4. On the HBOgo Keep in mind you have to have a current HBO subscription thru your cable etc to access it. I loved getting it on my Iphone but then we cut the cord. (insert cheap hubby here ) You can buy Episodes thru Amazon Streaming (which is what I have to do for True Blood and GoT) The nice thing about ROKU is they are constantly adding Channels and there are hundreds of them that are free. --(we have Roku, Viera Cast tv and XBOX that we stream thru)
  5. When I was pregnant with my daughter, I dreamed I had kittens. Complete delivery room dream the doctors showing me the kittens and I was just fine with them. No hint in the dream that having kittens was weird. lol Good luck and hang in there to all the preggers My little sister is due in July.
  6. We did the same thing in December, but use the Roku and my son's Xbox. We've survived this far. But I do miss my HGTV and Food channels. We combine Netflix and Hulu Plus so we're paying around $16 a month. The Hulu Plus takes the place of a DVR for current season shows. Amazon has a streaming service where you can buy episodes a la carte also. Gotta get my True Blood, Dr Who and Game of Thrones some way.
  7. Granny Smith apples. I was sick for 7 months with my daughter. I was on the Phenergan suppositories too and they helped but would make me drowsy. Something about the tart tang of the apples settled my stomach.
  8. That intersection is horrid. We were coming home and the ambulance was heading towards the accident and a bunch of knuckle heads were just crusing along and not getting out of the freaking way. We had pulled over in BP and after the ambulance passed got back on Dallas hwy and caught back up with the ambulance because no one was moving over like they should have. *nothing with this specific accident-- but it's got to be the most ran redlight in the county.
  9. Voted! we got the school system call from EPMS this afyernoon letting us know about the contest!
  10. I LOVE this whole story. It makes me feel like families that are trying to do the right thing and pay for Christmas using layaway instead of loading up credit cards are getting a reward and a blessing. My cousins office took up donations last week and they paid off $200 of layaways. They'd heard about the story on the news and wanted to do something nice. Way to go Lay-a-way Angels!
  11. You're welcome I've actually used a few recipes and some other tips from there, so I don't feel bad for all the time I've wasted. The trick to use for the zipper that won't stay up was pure genius.
  12. I always "open in new tab" when I want to look closer at something, that way I don't lose my place on the main page. pssstt---there's a app for it too.
  13. Pintrest is like crack. Think of it as an online bulletin board for you to "Pin" articles, recipes, DIY projects and really anything online. You can create mulitple boards ---food, diy, home, wish list whatever and when you find something online you'd like to be able to go back to you Pin it on your board. The link and a photo are saved on your boards. The best part is that it saves the links so your favorites don't explode. And you can Follow your friends boards and see the nifty stuff they pin, plus you can view Everything that anyone has pinned, or sort by categories.
  14. PM me My brother and step Dad move and repair vending machines.
  15. I wrap With 2 kids it was a strategy to slow them down so I can see them open.
  16. Thanks for the recomendation! We're def going to check them out. Shipping costs for these products are crazy.
  17. LOL more fuel for the fire. He's already talking about about Comcast.
  18. AMEN! Drives me crazy that I have to spend an hour + on the phone trying to find out if it's an outage or something on my end. And so far it's always an issue on their side... Is it too much to ask to have a notice on their website if they are having issues????
  19. Us too. We were down for 3 days a couple of weeks ago--we finally got them to admit they had to replace a part they didn't have so it was going to take a couple of days to get the part in. My husband thinks it's a conspiracy to get us to upgrade to U-verse. We've already got the fastest DSL they offer.
  20. Love my Kindle, got the hubby one earlier this year when he was having to travel a bunch for work. We have one Kindle account on Amazon so all of our books can be loaded on either Kindle or other devices, I think its 5 devices (iphone pc kindle)per account. It's saved a lot of trouble since we can both read the same book at the same time. Otherwise we were arguing over who got to read the new book first. lol We're in the same place with so many books everywhere, it's a space issue. We just finished the Game of Thrones Series and those were awesome and it was nice to not
  21. The HGTV channel on Roku is very limited There are a lot of nifty channels on the Roku--We've been enjoying the Funny or Die channel. There is a channel for EVERYTHING on there. We're still learning what's available.
  22. We just put up a model DB4 (edit I put DB8 But we actually have the DB4) antenna outside and we get 2/5/11/8/30/36/46/69 Ion whatever number that is, and all the subset channels (2.1 2.2 2.3)Plus some odd random stuff--Bounce, Tuff Tv. We do have an amplifier on the line, not sure what model it was. Hubby got most of it from Antenna's direct. So far (2 weeks in) I haven't snapped yet for lack of HGTV. We do have NetFlix and Hulu Plus subscriptions that cost us around $15 a month. And I can get some shows (Walking Dead/Dr Who) as pay per episode via Amazon Streaming. We do have
  23. Why yes she was. lol In that drafty old building. I had her 83/84
  24. Movies 278 in Hiram does a very good job with the midnight/premier stuff. You can order and print your tickets ahead of time from their website. We've done Harry Potter and a couple of the Twilight movies and been very pleased with how they handled it. And no standing out in the cold.
  25. I'm with you on the lettuce--I can't remember ever getting iceberg. The hydroponic lettuce is usually fabulous.
