  1. Thanks for the suggestions. I'm spending so much time reading I haven't had the time to search.
  2. I'm still a newbie with my Kindle. So far I'm only getting my books from Amazon. I met a lady a the doctors office the other day with a Sony reader and she suggested Booksonboard.com. They books can be downloaded to to all the e reader formats. So if you have a great site please share
  3. Hi, I just came that way up to Barrett, I could see cars moving up that hill into the park in both lanes.
  4. Left home around 7:30 (Dallas hwy & 92) Dallas hwy was fine for the most part all the way to Barrett. Use caution at Lost Mt--icy coming down the hill (towards Marietta) Another bad spot is just past Midway before the Avenues. Hubby left after me and saw a really nice 4 wheel drive smashed up on the other side of the road, looked like it hit the ice went across the median and ended up on the other side. ***PLEASE STAY BACK A FEW CAR LENGTHS!!!! TRAFFIC IS MOVING AT 45 MPH BUT IF THE CAR YOU'RE TAILGATING HITS A PATCH OF ICE YOU'RE SCREWED***
  5. We've all seen the same thing here where I work. Bartow, and Paulding looks pretty good on the main roads but once you hit Cobb it's not so good. I was appalled at how bad 41 was yesterday, with 75 practically shut down 41 was a vital thru-way. My theory is that the State was so busy on the interstates that the other state routes got nothing.
  6. I made it in around an hour ago. Dallas hwy to Barrett to Old 41 to 41 and then to Cobb Intl (business park across from Chastain) Dallas hwy is passable but pretty crappy. Still 1 rut to put your tire in and go very slowly. Barrett pkwy was great. Just slush between the lanes for the most part and the turn lanes were icky. I turned on Old 41 since hubby had said the intersection at 41 and Barrett was pretty slushy. Old 41 was fine. Hwy41/Cobb Pkwy was just as bad as Dallas Hwy. I can't believe it's this crappy. One of my coworkers made it in on 41 from Bartow and said it
  7. Mom left around 15-20 minutes ago. She had a hard time getting out of her neighborhood (Sedgefield). She said there are two "ruts" for your tires until you get past Lost Mt then it's down to 1 rut and the other side of the car is on ice. Hubby left a little after her and says the same thing. He had his truck in the lowest gear to get down our main road. I'll update again when I hear from them. Mom is headed to Barrett Pkwy and Hubby is heading to Chastain. Oh, they did say the PC side was way better than the Cobb. The only area they noticed sand/salt was the intersections
  8. Thank you! We can see the intersection of Dallas Hwy and 92 from the house and there has been hardly any traffic for the last 2 days.
  9. Need to take Dallas Hwy to Barrett to 41, Anyone traveled this way today?
  10. 5 3/4 inches. Dallas hwy and hwy 92. I can see 1 lane "clear" in each direction of Dallas hwy. Very little traffic. Normally we hear lots or crunches and crashes but today looks like everyone is staying home.
  11. Burial is at the cemetery across from the "new" Marietta h/s. Whitlock is going to be shut down so please plan in advance.
  12. Mine is resting under the tree too I did manage to get the hubs to get me the serial number pre-wrapping so I could go ahead and register it and start getting books. WhooHoo!
  13. MIL's will be Ham and traditional sides for lunch. Yeah, I get to make another 3 dozen deviled eggs (again) Mom's will rib roast, still planning the sides. Maybe I'll do some stuffed mushrooms. Definitely the bruschetta. Hoping my brother will make a cheese cake. (him and my little sis compete with each other each year at the fair--they've both won several blue ribbons for deserts) We do dinner at moms--that way I can drink with dinner. lol
  14. I'm up over the intersection at 92 and Dallas Hwy hearing sirens galore over here. Everyone be super careful. I hit black ice on Midway on my way home, then some more on Old Dallas rd (?) That right off Dallas hwy.lol Waiting on my husband and daughter both to get home.
  15. If anyone finds Apple Cider in a store Please let me know! I've been looking for 2 weeks. One of my friends at work brought a few in for us to try and it was wonderful. Now none of us can find it.
  16. We love our Keurig We've had the B60 for a year and it's been wonderful. I like the flavored coffees but the hubs would rather poke himself in the eye than drink fru-fru coffee. This way I get what I want too. On the hot chocolate, I recommend the Dark Chocolate rather than the regular. To me it has a better richer flavor with out being bitter. We love the hot teas also. The deal at Sam's is pretty good, and BJ's has a good package deal too.
  17. Deviled eggs are done, broccoli/califlower casserole is done. Turkey, mashed potatoes and gravy will be made tomorrow. We have two dinners to get to tomorrow. I fuss because I feel like we run all day--but I am very thankful we both have family close enough to spend the holidays with.
  18. Love Love our Netflicks Streaming. Won't mind the extra $1 at all. Wish we'd have bought stock a few months ago. I have the 1 disc at a time, and I've got it down on when to send it back to get the next one. We ususally get 2 a week. I doubt we'd use it that much but we've gotten hooked on True Blood. I need to get the Xbox downstairs hooked up--it will make the treadmill much more appealing.
  19. We love Alton Browns recipe. It's pretty easy, I tried it for the 1st time last year and it went really well.
  20. Me too! When I was younger it was a rite of passage for J Roberts to come to your work and sing you Happy Birthday. I'm glad he's looking healthier. I noticed he was using a cane the last time I saw him. Wonder if he's up for a Christmas parade appearance this year.
  21. . I used the the brine and Alton Browns recipe. The whole family loved it and there weren't any left overs And honestly we all hate poultry (sorry surepip) But it was wonderful and moist. **put your oven thru a self cleaning BEFORE Thanksgiving** http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/alton-brown/good-eats-roast-turkey-recipe/index.html All the directions and even videos of how to!
  22. One of my friends prefers her men a little dirty She likes guys that she can imagine cutting the grass and changing the oil in the car. lol Kid Rock def hits both those requirements.
  23. Guess my daughter will have to settle for Harry now. lol At least it looks like he's keeping his hair.
  24. That sounds wonderful. My daughters room is in the basement and stays a little chilly. That looks like a great Christmas present idea.
