I gotta see a professional about this! Are YOU a

Looks like you may be in the wrong business! -
Another suggestion: Genealogy 101. Maybe going over the resources that the library has available, how to get started, etc.

You got that problem, too? I love the phone call that begins with "I don't know what I did, but" and ends with "and it was working fine yesterday." Yup...computer skills, Facebook (as opposed to "Facespace", "Facepage", etc.), what a modem is/does, what a router is/does, so when you say unplug the router, they know what it is and how to do it. (I've labeled every cable and device on my dad's system to help with that issue.)

I grew up in the 60's and whoopins were the norm. I was spanked with hands, flyswatters, king switches, hickory switches, and belts. When I got spanked I can guaran-damn-tee you, I deserved each and every one. Spankings were reserved for serious offenses (ie: back sassing, not doing as I was told after being given fair warning, deliberately disobeying, lying, and for doing wrong when I was old enough to know better.) I didn't consider it abuse then and I don't now. My brothers and I got our fair share of whoopins and at 53, 52, and 49 are no worse for the wear. As far as I know, most

More things: Seeing the news reports of people showing pictures of their loved ones to whatever news crew would show it on TV in the hopes that someone had maybe seen them, they were unconscious in a hospital, etc. Churches seemed to be open 24/7 for weeks afterwards. I also remember a news conference later that evening where a reporter said that Rudy Guiliani had requested 6,000 body bags. Local firefighters collecting money in their boots to be donated to the families of their fallen brothers.

That's what I told him in an email I sent him the next day....that you step outside and it was SO QUIET! No planes, no helicopters, nothing. He said they were the only Americans at the cabin they were staying at (no TV). They (he and his wife) knew nothing about what was going on until the hotel manager came to their door and said he had some awful news from home they needed to know about. They thought my parents or one of us was sick or something. The mgr told them about the attacks and gave them directions to the nearest bar with a TV...and that was where they spent the better part of

I was at work. The customer service dept had a TV on because the company was going to be selling product on one of the major shopping channels. My dad called me to tell me a plane had flown into one of the towers. While I was on the phone with him, he said "Well damn! Another plane just flew into the other...we're being attacked!" I stood up to look inside the CS Dept and saw the channel had been turned over to Fox. It was shortly thereafter that we heard about the attack on the Pentagon and the crash in Pennsylvania. By that time the entire company had stopped work and was glued

Are you better off today than you were four years ago?
scoutfinch replied to barrycdog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Thanks...and that's the only point I was trying to make. You can plan, make smart decisions, go with the flow and make cutbacks and adjustments when necessary, etc. It doesn't matter how old you are or how well you've planned; sometimes you're the windshield....and sometimes you're the bug...and it sucks. The only thing you can do is buck up, dust yourself off, and come up with a new game plan. Best of luck to you and your husband...from someone who know and understands. -
Are you better off today than you were four years ago?
scoutfinch replied to barrycdog's topic in RECENT TOPICS
No....sometimes there's this little thing that's called "life" happens and you have no control over it. One day you go to the doctor for an annual physical and your blood work comes back "odd." So, you have it redone. A few days later, the doc calls back and wants to run some additional tests. And when the results come back, you're told it's cancer, but it looks like its been caught in time. So you have the surgery and when the pathology reports come back, it turns out some lymph nodes are cancerous; chemo and radiation are recommended. And, when you return to work, two months -
What y"all eating this fine Labor Day Sunday?

Steak and turkey dinner sausage on the grill, roasted potatoes, onions, and peppers. Chocolate pudding for dessert. -
I agree...back in the day they were more exciting. But since everyone knows who the candidates are. It's more of a formality and a reward for the campaign workers. They were talking on the radio today that since both the RNC and DNC pared their conventions down to three days this year, in the future just look for them to drag it out over a long weekend or maybe just a one day long party.
