  1. I remember going to church with my parents. I remember it because the preacher would get red-faced, pound his hand on the podium, and yell. I thought he was yelling at ME, hence I didn't like going to church that much. My first vivid memory was getting to stay home from church one Sunday. I was sick...and mad because Rocky and Bullwinkle weren't on. I remember my dad coming home and my mom saying "Somebody just shot Oswald". I don't remember where I was when Kennedy got shot, but I *DO* remember where I was when Oswald got shot. I was three.
  2. Out for the same amt here, but all is fine now.
  3. Although it won't get him any money, maybe one of the local investigative reporters might be interested in his story for a whistleblower investigation.
  4. Check for loose/dirty battery cables.
  5. Ding, ding, ding! Exactly!!!!
  6. On the flip side, I prefer the self checkouts. It seems like every time I have to use a real cashier, they are too busy flirting with the bag boy, griping about another employee to the bag boy, gossiping, or someone waiting until their entire purchase is rung up and bagged up THEN getting out their checkbook to write a check! In the meantime, I could have rung/bagged my stuff up myself and been outta there. It's worse than waiting in line for 15 minutes at McDonald's, you make it to the cashier, then the person right in front of you can't decide if they want the #1 combo or the
  7. Has anyone heard the weather report for hell, lately? Did it freeze?
  8. My favorite episodes involve Onslo.
  9. We did Royal Caribbean in late September. It was the last cruise of the season so we got a great deal on a balcony cabin. We flew into Anchorage, spent a couple days driving around, then took the train to Seward. Our favorite ports were Skagway and Sitka. In Skagway, we took the Whitehorse and Yukon train to see the old mining trail; in Sitka it was just interesting to stroll thru and look at the Russian architecture. As for wildlife, it's everywhere you look. We had a view of the ocean from our hotel in Seward and there was a group of seals playing near some rocks. On our drive
  10. I had a 3G several years ago and managed to crack the screen. I took it to the PeachMac store at The Avenue on Dallas Hwy and they replaced it for $100. It was well worth it to me; kept the phone for another year or so until I was eligible for an upgrade. Gave the 3G to my SIL and got a Galaxy SII....absolutely hate it! Will be going BACK to the iPhone soom.
  11. I rarely read novels, myself. When I do have the time to read, it's usually a biography/autobiography, collections of short stories and/or satirical, humorous essays, strange but true stories, or something based on current events. I just can't get into the vampire/werewolf teen angst stuff, the next book that will become the next hot chickflik date night movie, etc. As for the participation, or lack thereof, I think as others have said, their schedules are tied to their kids' schedule. Between homework, baseball, football, basketball, cheerleading, dance, or band practices, mos
  12. I've seen Elsbree as well; and he actually DOES take the time to LISTEN to you and not rush you in and out. His number is 678 354 0455; his office is in the complex right across the street from the Kroger on Mars Hill: the name of his practice is Cornerstone Family Medical, if that helps you.
  13. I see rookie has mentioned the one I was thinking of on US41; prayers said for your fur baby. : (
  14. Actually, what I was going to do was go to a booth, pay for several boxes, then tell the girls to pick their favorites, open them up and hand out as free samples. I'm doing Weight Watchers, so I don't want the temptation, but I do want to support the scouts.
  15. Is it a story song (meaning the singer is telling the story in song) or is there a little girl actually singing/speaking the child's part? The reason I ask is that some country singers (Bobby Bare and Conway Twitty) are two that some to mind that recorded songs with their children. Bobby Bare did "Singin' in the Kitchen" and "Daddy What If" with his kids and Conway recorded "Don't Cry Joni" with his daughter. It doesn't answer your question, but I thought it might jog a little more info.
  16. I'll bet!! I remember when they first started requiring fingerprints as part of drivers license renewals (not sure if this has been rescinded because its been a while since this happened) but if memory serves, you were required to do digital thumbprints that would be imbedded in a digital chip on the back of the license. It was a measure to try to make it more difficult to make a fake license. Anyway, the big stink was what happens if you don't have thumbs, have a prosthesis, etc. I don't know how/if it was resolved or the whole thing may have been rescinded.
  17. I went last week, as well. It's $72.25 cash, regardless if it is a new or renewal. There is an ATM in the bldg if you need to make a withdrawal. Fingerprinting is the longest part of the process. It's digital and it took several tries on each of my fingers on both hands before the scanner would accept it. Bring picture ID.
  18. Of course! Sorry, gotta run, now! The help are cleaning the windows and I have to make sure they don't leave streaks. I just adore a penthouse view!
  19. Good! It should be a short presentation, then.
  20. Our dear friends, Thurston and Lovey, will be attending our dinner party tonight. They want to show us slides from some cruise they took many years ago. Can't wait!!!
  21. They were at 92 and East Paulding last weekend begging. What kind of idiot parent allows their child to stand at the corner of a busy intersection and beg for money? I don't understand it. The kids aren't paying attention to the cars, the parents aren't watching their kid(s), and drivers are too busy yammering or texting on their phones and aren't paying attention to anyone. It's a recipe for disaster.
