I'm just glad that none of you flashers was out and about the day that LE finally had a conversation with Moonlight Motion Pictures' and Mr. Dis' gal in the gold Chrysler 300. It would have been a real shame if SHE had gotten a heads-up.

And the father of the year award goes to.........................

This guy is a close second - what kind of father takes his kids on a JetSki on a flood-swollen river??? Father & daughters rescued from Merrimack River -
I flash my lights at people who are running without theirs in the rain or when it's dark. I've also been known to flash my lights when I've just passed an animal or bicyclist in the road, especially if I think the oncoming car won't see them until they're right on 'em. I won't flash my lights to warn another driver about a cop.

Most of the 'Taste of' events I've seen are outdoors. I'd be more likely to attend one that was INdoors, mainly because I have a low tolerance for heat these days. I also think people are likely to stay longer if they're comfortable. Make sure that there are plenty of seats or at least stand-up tables. Make sure the tickets are reasonably priced. Offer a discounted 'book' of tickets to make the event more palatable (no pun intended) for families. Having said that, if people only have to pay, say, $1 per ticket, they should expect to get only *small* portions. Perhaps each vendo

To change the sex on a driver's license in Georgia, a person must present a certified copy of the court decree stating that that person's gender was surgically changed. Hormone therapy is not sufficient. Last time I checked, Carson Kressley *also* 'looks like a guy,' so why would he be permitted to dance with a guy? Ballroom dancing (thank God!) really is intended to be about one man and one woman - sexual orientation has nothing to do with it. If Louis van Amstel can dance with a woman, so can Carson.

State Health Benefit Plan (insurance for school employees)
Riograce replied to ktan458's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I didn't see anything on the DCH or SHBP websites. Since open enrollment won't start until October, that's not terribly surprising - if they're going to make any changes, I'm sure they don't want to start the outrage any earlier than they have to. -
It was NOT 'totally useless' to know that there was an accident at that location, because people who were perhaps planning a trip in that direction could then take a different route.

This is a classic case of 'damned if you do, damned if you don't.' I suspect that the SO is putting less and less info out on the scanners because more and more people *have* scanners.

Dr. Breckwoldt is my GP of record, but I've only seen him once. I see my specialists more often these days. My husband has seen him on several occasions and likes him. His office is in Hiram, if location is important to you.

Georgia minister sues estate of woman killed by police Of course, lil' ol' cynical me always thought it was all about the money. It would be nice to be *wrong* occasionally, though.

Hurricane Irene has the potential to become a mega
Riograce replied to LPPT's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I don't normally quote entire posts but I thought this bore repeating. I too believe that, as usual with storms on the Atlantic, the NC coast will take the brunt of Irene's ire and the rest of the east coast will be spared most of her force. There may be some damage and even some deaths, but I don't think for one second this storm will wreak the kind of devastation we've seen before in Florida and along the Gulf coast. Hurricanes hate landfall. -
I live in Hiram but hardly *ever* went to either of the stores you mentioned because I HATE getting in the 278 traffic. When I want to shop at Kroger, I visit either the Ridge Road or Brownsville Road locations. When I want to shop at Publix, I visit either the New Georgia or Sailors Pkwy. stores. Food Lion is just a few miles away on Hwy. 92. And don't forget the Ingles on Dallas-Nebo. IMO, we have plenty of stores from which to choose.

Earlier in the thread, Tona said she was mixing a tablespoon into 16 oz. of orange juice once a day. I started using it last week - I'm mixing 1/2 teaspoon into a container of yogurt. I've also mixed it into oatmeal and sprinkled it over cereal. I'm going to up it to one teaspoon soon (I figured I'd start slow).

Was this in Georgia? Why wasn't she written a ticket for no insurance? And you should check into filing a safety responsibility claim against her. Under some circumstances, an uninsured's driver's license can be suspended indefinitely until they make restitution. You can find out more about that on the DDS website.

I'm afraid that's one of the reasons I'm leery of visiting DC, despite the fact that I'd *love* to see it someday. I'm so sorry that happened to her - did the police give them much hope of finding her car?

They haven't moved yet! Bumble Bee will be at their Ridge Road location through August. According to their Facebook page, they're moving around the 4th of September and will be back in business at the new site later that week. For those of you who don't recognize the site, it's the old Dogwood's restaurant near the Highway 92/Nebo Road intersection. My husband and I were just there today to get some lunch (a delish chicken salad croissant and a Bad Dog) and some tasty treats for the weekend.

best way to assist someone you don't know personally

If you wanted to be anonymous, perhaps you could buy money orders totalling the amount you want to give and make them out to the utilities you're sure of (GreyStone, for example). Even if they didn't cover her entire bill for a given month, they *would* free up that amount of her income, which should let her pay other things. -
As I recall, my HS ring is 10K gold, so if that's true for most of them, that's why they wouldn't bring much.

If you're going to ingest it, you want to be sure you're buying *food-grade* diatomaceous earth. There is a difference.

I had mine done before I was quite as computer-addicted as I am now, but I think I was told not to read or do anything that might cause eye strain. I remember watching TV and napping a lot for a couple of days.

My DE came in the mail today, and I just had a serving of yogurt with 1/2 tsp. of DE mixed into it (I figured I'd start slow). I really couldn't tell I'd put anything in the yogurt at all - this stuff is the consistency of powdered sugar. I'm going to take 1/2 tsp. a day for a week, then up it to a teaspoon a day. I'm not going to change anything else I do. If I notice any difference in how I feel, I'll let y'all know.
