  1. Love Tim Hawkins! This is an oldie but a goodie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zfs3BJZxKkc
  2. Trick-or-treating the old-fashioned way - going to houses as opposed to going to, say, a mall - makes Hallowe'en an 'intrusive' holiday. One's observance requires the participation of others, unlike other holidays. If you attempt to trick-or-treat at my house on any day other than 31 October, you won't get any candy. IMO, Hallowe'en - and thus trick-or-treating - is on the 31st and not any other day.
  3. I don't think it was an issue until people had Internet bulletin boards.
  4. Bumble Bee Bakery on Highway 92 also has a limo for hire - I don't think I'm allowed to post a phone number, though ....
  5. Congrats to your daughter! Isn't she the young lady who modeled for ARP's photography seminars? I think her name was Caroline.
  6. It has already been stated in this thread *and* in the news story under discussion that police officers are *prohibited* from providing 'escorts' to civilians due to liability issues.
  7. -1 So if your wife has a crisis in the middle of your rush to the ER, you're telling me that you can drive AND administer emergency medical care to her AT THE SAME TIME? Wow, that's impressive. And extremely unlikely.
  8. *That* problem could be solved by plugging an expiration date into the poll-creation program. If Yahoo! Groups can do it, it's doable.
  9. I would rather have public money go towards the purchase of healthy food. In my experience, people will eat if they're hungry, whether it's their favorite food or not.
  10. In the post you quoted, Jetasmom wrote that she neg'd posts occasionally because she didn't consider the post worthy of the 'bump' her *comment* would have given it. I have given negatives - as opposed to a comment - for exactly the same reason. I've decided it's no biggie for me - I kinda like having to put my -1s in the body of a post. Makes 'em stand out.
  11. -1 'Forced to park very far away?' No, he CHOSE to walk rather than pay for parking. The last time my husband was in the hospital, I had torn a muscle in my leg and was using a cane. I CHOSE to use the parking lot rather than use the valet service. BTW, many doctors' offices and treatment centers will validate parking vouchers for patients - I wonder if Eddie ever asked about that ...?
  12. Are you being deliberately obtuse? If *I* mail you something, it comes from ME - the postal service is only performing the service for which I paid them: to deliver it to you. By the same token, that junk mail you seem to dislike so much comes from whatever entity paid the USPS the bulk mail rate to deliver it. Aside from dangerous/hazardous substances, the postal service doesn't get to pick and choose what passes through their system - if someone pays for the service they provide, they are obliged to render the service.
  13. -1 I hope that, if I was having chest pains, my husband would call 911 instead of risking our lives and the lives of others by speeding to a hospital. The chief of police for Roswell has already stated that it is against department policy to provide escorts for civilians who need to get somewhere in a hurry. The madness will stop when people stop thinking they have the right to do whatever they want, damn the consequences, then get on the six-o'clock news and pose as 'victims.'
  14. Maybe you'll be able to click on it and see. I've given negatives before for posts that were inflammatory or just plain stupid. I guess I'll just have to follow those up with a big -1 *post* instead.
  15. You *do* realize that the postal service doesn't GENERATE junk mail, right?
  16. It's really nice to see Courtney Cox bring Coco to see her dad dance every week - I enjoy seeing her, too. I check Dial Idol every Tuesday to see their 'DWTS' predictions. They're not infallible, but they're usually pretty close. Carson and Anna were on the bottom this week, while Hope and Maks were the top vote-getters, yet the show placed them in the so-called 'jeopardy' group. I think they do that just to freak people out. Believe it or not, Ricki and Derek were third from the bottom on Dial Idol, and I was *sure* the show would put them in jeopardy just for the shock factor - w
  17. I wouldn't cry any crocodile tears over Chaz or Hope leaving.
  18. I've watched 'DWTS' since day one. If there is justice, the final will be between J.R. and Ricki. And I wish those with a Chaz agenda would get bored and quit voting because it is LONG time for her/him to go home. But I have to confess that I always give some of my votes to whoever Cheryl dances with because my husband has a crush on her.
  19. I thought you lived off Bill Carruth Pkwy. near the waste water fields ... if so, in relation to where they will be on Ridge Road, I wouldn't consider that 'undesirable' at all.
  20. I quit watching a few years ago, and I *really* liked 'House' and I LOVE Hugh Laurie. For me, the show has jumped the shark.
  21. I had a salted caramel cupcake recently that was YUM-my! I was a little bewildered by the name, but it turned out to be great.
  22. My husband has been a Type I diabetic since he was nine, and he pays more attention to carb count these days. He has problems with many artificial sweeteners.
  23. I had never heard of it - had to look it up. According to their website, there's going to be a location in Hiram.
  24. With only 20% function, I'm a little surprised that her doctor doesn't want her on dialysis *now* - when my husband's kidneys failed in 1993, 20% was the line of demarcation. We were told that hemodialysis (which is what she'd receive in a dialysis center) is harder on the body than peritoneal dialysis, but the latter form *does* require more self-care and attention. Once you get accustomed to the process, though, peritoneal dialysis is less intrusive on your daily life - my husband hooked up to his cycler at night, got 'cleansed' as he slept, then unhooked in the morning and got on with
