Just remember that while the State of Georgia says kids can drive at sixteen, the Absolute Monarchy of Mom and Dad can set whatever age and additional stipulations They want (up 'til eighteen). In my experience, the eighteen- and nineteen-year-olds I tested seemed to be a little more sober about the driving experience. It was as if a switch had clicked on in their brains that made them understand that driving was a serious responsibility.

Bumble Bee Bakery didn't move that far from their old location - they're on Highway 92 near the Nebo Road intersection, in the old Dogwood's Restaurant building.

Bad moms give their kids what they want with no thought to the consequences. Since you're not prepared to do that, I'd say you're not a bad mom. Speaking as someone who rode with teenagers for almost 25 years for a living, here's what I'd look for in a car for a young driver: 1. Used but with a good reliability rating from 'Consumer Reports.' 2. A CAR (sedan-sized) as opposed to an SUV or a truck. Most cars have a low center of gravity, making them less likely to flip. They're also usually better with gas consumption. Trucks are front-end-heavy, making them more likely to

I used to work with a young woman whose first car was a station wagon. She said it became known as 'The Party Barge.' Do you still think something that will hold that many hormone-enhanced teenagers is a good idea?

I'm not speaking of the quality of their parenthood - I'm saying that if you feel the need to rear lots of kids, why not take care of children who are already *here* instead of making more? If you think your methods of parenting are superior, why not take in children who could benefit from that superiority? I know most people like having a child or two of their own to 'carry on' their name, beliefs, DNA, whatever. That's human nature. But in this modern day and age, where there is no 'need' to produce live-in farmhands, popping out baby after baby just looks obsessive and selfish. I

If my saying that GIVING BIRTH to twenty children is selfish makes me mean, nasty, etc. ... oh, well. I stand by my statement. I'm not the least impressed by breeders. People who ADOPT children, OTOH, in an attempt to give them a family they wouldn't have otherwise, are my heroes.

Childbearing at this level of magnitude is just selfish. OTOH, if their own show bites the dust, they should be able to get their own permutation of 'Hoarders.'

I know you mentioned the attraction of no income tax in FL, but have you considered the *Alabama* gulf coast area? I have a friend who bought a place in Orange Beach and they LOVE it. They got a great deal on a house that needed relatively little done to it and are very pleased with the cost of living. Her husband still works, but he's eyeing retirement in the next 1-2 years, and she works because she wants to, not because she *has* to. Would another possibility be buying a smaller place - say a two bedroom/one bath - and building on to it? -
As far as I've been able to determine, only the municipalities are voting tomorrow. I *think* the county opted NOT to hold a special election just for the Sunday alcohol issue.

I have a theory about that ... it wouldn't surprise me to discover that Gloria doesn't charge these high-profile 'clients' squat, because the kind of face-time they get her is worth far more than whatever filthy lucre they could fork over. No, I'll bet the big money comes from those guys and gals who DON'T want their faces plastered all over TMZ, et al.

Not if you're the seller. IMO, the only way a cash offer would be more attractive than a financed offer is if the purchase is owner-financed - otherwise, why should the seller care? He/She/They get their cut upfront - only the financier suffers if the purchaser defaults. I *think* I recall from past posts that you're wanting to move to Florida. I don't know what the attraction is to the particular community in which you're interested, but would it be possible to duplicate that in *another* community - or even another state? -

Not at all - I've never heard of a *buyer's* agent that charged an up-front fee. They usually split the sales commission with the selling agent. -
I just found out last night that you can check out GA state parks parking passes and historic site passes from the *library*. I'm gonna go back (this time with my O2!) and see if I can make it to the falls this time.

If you've found only four houses in five years of looking, that tells me you must have a *lot* of factors that are narrowing your search (unless this is a tiny market where homes for sale are few and far between). If you are unable or unwilling to be flexible on your criteria, you'll have to accept that it may take a long time to find a property. I'm not suggesting that you *should* flex, because a home is a purchase with life-changing implications - I'm just saying that maybe you shouldn't be surprised that it's taking so long, even in a depressed market. -
The cost of the strips is what will eat you alive.

I wish she'd get her hair out of her face.

I'm watching on CNN - are you speaking of the press conference with Gloria Allred?
-
Nope - just a plain old 'member.'

Maybe you could borrow a line marker from one of the high schools and chalk your message onto your lawn.

I don't even know if it's still available, but we loved 'Password.'

Spend only as much as won't break your heart when you hear he's broken it or lost it or had it stolen. Sorry, but when buying an expensive device for a child, that would be my first criteria. He could be the most responsible eleven-year-old on the planet, and any of those things could happen.

Tell *me* how a spoiled rich chick's divorce has anything to do with making an argument FOR permitting homosexuals to marry.

According to their Locations page, you can contact someone if you're interested in establishing a new pick-up site. It *would* be nice to have a location south of Hwy. 278 - perhaps a church would allow this service to establish itself on their property once a week.
