1. That is really sweet! My husband's proposal was perfect for me. There was a restaurant in Gatlinburg called The Burning Bush that was my absolute favorite place to eat breakfast. On a Friday night, before he went home for the night, he told me to be up and ready to go by 6 am the next day. I was REALLY not looking forward to being up and ready by 6 am on a Saturday and I let him know. However, I was ready to go and waiting outside for him at 6. Four hours later we arrived and I thought it was just a fun little road trip that he'd planned b/c he often did things like that. I wasn't the l
2. Right now I'm wishing that it wasn't Saturday night because after reading this entire topic, I want something from there and they're closed tomorrow! My daughter and I have been in once and bought several things for the two of us and my mom and grandmother to sample! The four of us pigged out and loved everything we tried. It isn't close to me so we haven't been in again but hopefully we can get by there one day next week!
3. I can't imagine how bad it sucks and I'm sorry that your family is being hit so hard right now. My prayers are with all of you and I am praying that Shannon will sleep very well tonight and that you will too!
4. My husband and I don't spank our daughter but I honestly think that if she had done what your friend's 4 year old did, she'd have gotten her first spanking that night! That is absolutely absurd that they did nothing more than basically guilt trip the kid. They set him up for failure immediately by not doing more to make it perfectly clear that what he did was more than just "not the right thing to do." I honestly don't know how you held your tongue. As for the OP's question, I don't know how to handle a child who bites but I know that as we neared the biting age I worried myself sick
5. Congratulations! I've been home w/ my daughter since she was born and honestly, my favorite thing to do is pull out all of her games, make some popcorn, and sit in the living room floor and play games all day. We also love playing w/ play dough, painting, coloring, etc. When it's warm out, we get up and eat breakfast, get dressed, and spend the entire day outside. Any day that it's warm out, we eat lunch outside. Jump 4 Joey is her personal favorite and it's wonderful during the winter months. We have movie mornings sometimes and those are fun, especially when it's cold out or when we've
6. They are all in my prayers. It sounds like they have had a couple of very difficult months, to say the least. I cannot imagine the grief they are dealing with right now but I will continue to keep them all in my thoughts and prayers.
7. I agree with you...I don't want strangers on my sheets and I LOVE cold sheets...unless I'm cold when I go to bed and if that's the case, I put my electric blanket on top of the fitted sheet for a few minutes before crawling in and it works like a charm!
8. Congratulations and welcome to Team Pink (although I was thinking you're already an existing member, right?)! I'll never forget the day that I washed all of my daughter's things after my baby shower. When I cleaned the lint catcher on the dryer, the lint was about an inch thick and BRIGHT PINK! Sounds insane, but it made me cry because I was so excited! Shopping for her hasn't become any less exciting even four years later, it's only become more expensive because she loves shoes so she always wants to go to the shoes and once she finds a pair, she wants to find a new outfit to go with them
9. I didn't know about this boutique until now so my daughter and I are going shopping in a bit. LPPT, those boots are amazing!
10. I have and it's a BIG change. My thyroid FINALLY leveled out in May of last year and since then I have lost nearly 80 pounds(no dieting...just have the appetite of one woman rather than twelve men). I am on Levoxyl because Synthroid didn't work for me at all...my thyroid level was through the roof on that stuff and I couldn't walk up the six stairs in our house w/out feeling like I was going to pass out.
11. I'm not sure I should watch the video b/c the lyrics alone, were enough to make me cry. My favorite sad song is "Lonely Enough" by Little Big Town. Anytime I hear that song, it reminds me so much of my Grandmother and how she longs for my Grandfather. "Lonely Enough" It's been a long time since I prayed Let the words fall where they may Forgive me now for what I'm 'bout to say Tired of being on my knees Sick of begging you please Since the day you took him away from me [Chorus] God, how much more do I have to hurt How far down do you wanna see me go Tell me God,
12. I have Still's Disease which is Juvenile R.A. I was diagnosed when I was 5 years old but went into remission for many years. Around 23 I came out of remission and of course, during pregnancy at 25, went back into remission. Unfortunately, that didn't last and my pain over the last four years has been worse than at any other time in my life. My mom has Lupus and has done tons and tons of research and joined many internet communities centered around auto immune diseases. Recently she called me with new info. on Vitamin D-3. Our bodies are supposed to turn Vit. D into D-3 but if you have a
13. I just checked Georgia Navigator and it isn't showing 113 at all (as a closure or as a road w/ ice). This is what I was looking at http://www.georgia-navigator.com/closures I see that I'm a little late~ oops!!
14. My grandparents lived in Blue Ridge until I was 11 and snow cream was something that my sister and I looked forward to every winter! My granddad bought a Snoopy snow cone machine and would make the snow cream that way. It's one of those things that I'll forever remember the taste of (and Mayfield can try as hard as they want to but they'll NEVER recreate my granddad's snow cream!).
15. Praying for Shannon and your family.
16. 2009 was a difficult year for our family. On Easter Sunday my sister and her children were on their way to our house for lunch and an easter egg hunt. They were less than 1/4 of a mile from here when they had a terrible accident. The front right tire went off the road and she began spinning until her car went off the other side of the road and hit two trees. The first tree caught the back of the passenger side and the second tree hit the front door on the passenger side. The middle of the car, the door where my niece and nephews were, was untouched, and so were they. My sister wasn't as
17. I make a cheese sauce from scratch but if I tried to tell you, it would probably sound a lot more difficult than it really is. Google it and you'll get a real recipe instead of "a little bit of this, and a little bit of that". I boil a pound of macaroni shells, mix them w/ the cheese sauce, and top with TONS of shredded cheddar cheese. Bake it until the cheese on top is golden brown and bubbly. If you use this recipe, be sure to make a lot of the cheese sauce so the macaroni shells fill up with it. That is what makes mine so good! My daughter and husband could eat a meal of nothing but m
18. Congratulations on the birth of your grandson and I hate to hear about the passing of your grandmother. I bet you'll see a lot of your grandmother's personality in the new baby. My daughter was born Dec. 14 and my grandmother passed away Dec. 28. Our daughter is SO much like my grandmother and it is sometimes really eerie how much she looks like and acts like my grandmother. I have always said that my grandmother had to pass so that my daughter would have a personality because this world couldn't handle two of their personality at once.
19. Last Saturday night my husband and I walked into Target and Mrs. Jesse was standing in the front of the store so I stopped to talk to her (first time I've ever done that). She is such a funny lady...she told some funny stories and I greatly enjoyed our conversation. She told me that she won't have any food on Christmas Eve/day so I am going to run some food by her house tonight. For those of you who have been there, is there anything I need to know before I go?
20. Me too!! We have one on our back door but our other doors have regular deadbolts. We installed chains on our doors so that our daughter can't escape, we have an alarm that chimes when the door is opened, and we put a baby gate up at the end of the hall at night, mostly so that my husband doesn't set the alarm off in the morning when he goes downstairs, but it also helps to keep the little one contained. Even with all of those precautions, our daughter HAS escaped. I was upstairs drying my hair and I thought she was in her playroom. When I turned the hair dryer off and called her name she
21.
OK, I have been to the hospital and this guy is in really grave condition. He has had 3 massive strokes and 6 other minor ones. He is breathing on his own for the most part but is getting a little assist from a respirator. Please send prayers for this family.
Wow. Poor guy. My family will keep him in our prayers.
22. So when does she start putting her trees up? I think it's really neat but personally, I would dread the clean up.
23. We have the big, 70's style bulb, multi color lights. I wanted them for years but refused to pay $10/box. About six years ago I went to Target after Christmas and found them for $2/box and bought six boxes.
