  1. Alas, I have a dear friend married to one for 27 years. She's about at the end of tolerance. I pray she gets out before she winds up in a soft room.
  2. Yup, child shouldn't fight but has the right to defend him/herself. My brother was a very quiet, introverted, AV geek in Jr. high (NY doesn't call it Middle School) back in the 70's. He had broken his ankle and was casted to his hip (yes, old time plaster cast). One particular kid took great joy in knocking the crutches out from under Bill every day. He came home from school after the latest face plant and said "Dad, Mom I know you told me not to fight, so I don't, but I can't take this anymore." Dad pulled him aside and firmly said "Son, you're right. No fighting. But DEFEND yoursel

  4. We mothers DO understand... you keep your voice calm, you stand firm, you let them go.... and then you go in the shower and bawl your eyes out and pray, storming the gates of heaven for your Prodigal Child.
  5. Kudos to you mom for standing firm on not enabling her behavior (re- no money). You're walking out "Loving them enough to let them fall."
  6. Ditto on the helmet! I NEVER ride without mine... every ride, every time. Were it not for my helmet 6 years ago, I'd be dead or with a TBI due to (sorry but it's true) rude biker who ran up on my horse's rear end without a word. She spooked, spun and sent me airborne. Left a 1/3rd-inch of a dent in the back right section of my helmet. Better it than my skull.
  7. Can't see Speedy Gonzalez anymore either. Hmph.
  8. As an equestrian who boards alone at a private farm right off the SCT, 99% of the time I am riding alone on it. HOWEVER, I have made myself familiar with several "cut thru's" that, unless you know where they are and where they come out, you'd never see 'em. My horse also knows them. I ride with defensive awareness. I don't wear earbuds. If I want music, I sing. If I see anyone that gives me the creeps, I'll turn around, head up into the wooded trail running parallel or nudge my mare into a faster gait. My mare is also very "people" aware. We can be walking along and suddenly h
  9. Dr. Fierce at Advanced Eye - Dallas Hwy next to Starbucks/in front of Target. He's a GEM!!! http://eyedoctormarietta.com/?attachment_id=1073
  10. Anyone got a good installer? I'd need that person to come out to get the true square foot measure, tell me all the supplies I'd need to buy and offer a quote on what their labor charge would be. Project won't be till October, but this way I can buy as I go and then flip the switch when I am ready. Did get 2 recommendations from Home Advisor, but I'd really like to stay truly local. Thanks!
  11. Alas, No Longer Bound is for men only. I have to agree with Mom.... right now, X isn't at rock bottom because she has a place to live and a vehicle to drive. As long as she has that, sister is enabling the behavior. X needs to be kicked out now. Will it be pleasant? Of course not. But when you love them enough, you do the hard thing. Until they are without resource from any family or friend, then (maybe) they'll seek to find help on their own. Ask me how I know...
  12. Nun finer than Brad at Mainstream Automotive on the corner of Bobo Road & Mt. Tabor Church. Very knowledgeable, good work, fair price, done on time! He works on my Escape, Chevy 3500 diesel dually and my horse trailer.
  13. He and Victor Borge could both make it today because good humor is good humor... it's contagious!
  14. She was an actress who loved and served The Lord in all she did. "Well done, thou good and faithful servant. Enter into your rest."
  15. We just did this. My husband has dementia, so I wanted the tub gone. Got a 3 piece shower enclosure from Lowe's Easier to install, easy to clean.
  16. Nice! But PLEASE don't feed him bread. Tis not good. Their digestive system was not designed to handle it. Give halved grapes, bird seed, pumpkin seed or whole oats.
  17. Use shower curtains... Works perfectly and cheaper to replace
  18. Z-coil Shoes. yeah, they're pricey but they're an investment! http://www.zcoil.com/product-category/women/
  19. Love the Sabrett Hot Dog Guy in Home Depot's parking lot. Real dog, onion sauce & good kraut!
  20. And GSP has been lurking at the turn off from Bus 6 onto Old Harris Road (next to the dead Huddle House). They've been FLYING down that wee road for quite some time. Saw 2 in 2 days get nailed.
  21. Can't wait for the equestrian trails to open!
  22. THE BEST.... Willowtree Embroidery in Villa Rica... Just take 61 south right into VR....it bears left at Happy Valley Baptist Church.... Stay straight, parallel to the tracks. Willowtree is on your left about 50 feet after that first RR crossover.
  23. If you want good fried chicken, go to the VA. Having sat with several friends and family in assorted hospitals over the past two years, I can honestly say that Cartersville Med Ctr had the best food, with great healthy options. Northside would come second, Piedmont third and way down the list is the VA... truly, only the chicken makes it worth my while to walk down there. Hopefully I won't have to sit with anyone at our new Paulding Hospital, but it's nice to read/hear that if I do, the food is good and that you can stay with your loved one.
  24. Love Groucho... best ever, tho, is him with Mrs. Teasdale in "Duck Soup." - Ah Mrs. Teasdale...I could dance with you till the cows come home. On second thought. I'd rather dance with the cows till you come home."
  25. Yup, tis the season for Bee Minton
