  1. I'm waiting for the decorative concrete walls and faux brick sidewalks to nowhere to go up. That seems to be the norm with these projects. We now have sidewalks in areas where I see more road kill than people walking. This is why I will never vote for any new tax in the future.
  2. Well just damn.. always did want to be appealing to the Woooooorrrrllllld Scene. Maybe if one of us wins that rifle, we'll go out to the pasture with you and kill that dead horse you keep beating.
  3. The science of this feat alone is amazing. I have been following this goal for some time, so I am glued to the screen. To have Kittinger, the man who holds the current record, on the team and speaking to him directly as he ascends, is very cool. I am hoping for the very best.
  4. It's not an issue of alcoholics, the residents of PC and their habits or getting drunk. It's an issue of our BOC following through with Bill SB 10 which was signed by our governor. It allows us to decide this issue by VOTING. By not allowing us to vote on this issue, they are simply exercising the control they have held in the past. They can spare us the flag waving ,constitution reciting, and the paranoia of "the bad element of Atlanta" coming if it is approved. Just put their money where their mouth is, step into the modern world and let the people vote.
  5. I am very harsh when it comes to child molesters. I do not think they can be rehabilitated and like a roach, it is something they are wired to do , therefore they should be exterminated. Molestation has gone from something that was brushed under the rug, to something taken much more seriously in today's times. The mention of a child molester will bring people signing up to join a mob ready to burn the perpetrator at the stake. Years ago, let's say someone I knew of, was going through a divorce. He and his wife lived in a very small town, much like Dallas. She demanded that he would pay a
  6. I think the mentality of PC from the very minute Governor Deal paved the way for Georgians to control alcohol sales in their own neighborhoods, was to just prevent sales for as long as possible by delaying the vote. There is no reason why this could not have been on the ballot in the remainder of PC by now other than control.
  7. I'm with you as well. Although, I feel sympathy for Aimee and wish her the best, I don't need an update every day when I turn on the radio or tv. Thanks for the info on CPL Love, he's one heck of a bad ass. What an inspiration.
  8. Things my grandmother used to say... High Falutin : That's -----, she was trying to be high falutin in town last week. Ain't Right: That's the --- boy, he ain't right. Nervous Hospital: Poor --- I heard he went to the nervous hospital after --- died. Take A Switch To You: You get to acting up and I will take a switch to you! (Grandmother and Mom wouldn't hesitate to make us pick our own switch off of a bush to scare us for misbehaving during church or the day.)
  9. We definitely have to post a school calendar in the house to keep up with the early releases, holidays etc. The arguments have been beat to death concerning school schedules. The only thing I can see that bothers me at times is the momentum that is lost with focus by breaks during the year. Now when I went to school, we started the day after Labor Day. You got two days for Thanksgiving, two weeks for Christmas, a week for Spring break and then you were out by the end of May. We got the entire Summer to ourselves. Annnnd we liked it!
  10. From the phone call I made, it was Comcast. In fact I watched the remainder of the game in non HD, after the HD channel froze numerous times. Never mind I just pay the extra fee for HD so I can "say" I have HD, who cares if I want to watch it. I thought it was interesting that Comcast, xfinity or whatever they are calling themselves today, advertises with the Falcons, and can't even give decent coverage of their games.
  11. Never trusted him, a snake in the grass, but then again I hold that opinion of the last few in office. I've always thought he should have tightened the noose on Bin Laden and focused more on that target rather than what Monica was doing with his cigars. Eloquent speakers don't mean a damn thing to me, I like effective "doers".
  12. I really thought there would be more county fairs around the area than I ever see. We've lived in the Atlanta area for a decade and to only have one choice for a fair in an area this size is a surprise. I'm just used to numerous county fairs growing up in south Georgia, where the whole experience of the food,shows,rides,4H exhibits, games, seeing who won first place with their prize vegetable or fruit, best livestock etc. I suppose it depends on the area of the state as to the nature of the fair. With Marietta being so close to Atlanta, maybe there is not as much interest in a more hometown type
  13. Absolutely pathetic as a tv show. I was totally embarrassed when I realized they were just up the road in Ringgold, GA. I only caught an episode because it follows one of my favorite shows. This along with that Honeycomb poo poo or whatever show, adds to the stereotype and highlights our worst cross section of the population. Somewhere I know a hollywood producer is laughing in a boardroom about how dumb those hicks are, while he counts his money. I've traveled this country from one end to the other and the truth of the matter is, you can find some nasty freak show types to make these shows an
  14. Just a question about the fairs mentioned in this thread or any fair in the area. The wife and I have not been to a fair in many many years. She is used to the fairs back home in MI, and I grew up going to the fairs in south GA. I haven't been to one in 15 years. We would love to go to one that has all the good food, we're talking heart attack level stuff. I'm looking for lots of games, rides, crafts, livestock ,agriculture and horticulture, shows etc. Will the two mentioned fit the bill?
  15. Usually I refuse to go to the door. I figure the signs in the neighborhood stating 'No Solicitation" speak for themselves. I have however been caught coming in from the car and politely told them I am not interested and never will be. I figure it's best to be stern before becoming rude. Our 130 pound rottie barking his head off and looking at them through the window usually is a deterrent for them, or anyone else soliciting, not to hang around on the doorstep too long.
  16. What a choice I have for November. It's like walking on razor blades or hot coals, which one will hurt less and cause less damage in the long run. It's felt like this from my own back door all the way to the White House. How pathetic.
  17. I'd like to mess with some scammer like this just one time. As soon as they ask to do a demo with a cleaner I give the following line. "Man, I am so glad you showed up!" " Will that stuff clean up blood splatter off of sheet rock and carpets?" "We gotta work fast though, and no phone calls!" Watch them haul A.
  18. Great link by the way. Thanks. My GGF served in the GA 47th Regiment. It's made it even more interesting knowing he fought in a certain battle when I visited that site.
  19. "Artists" here in the states need to take notice. It seems sometimes they bash our system yet express themselves visually and lyrically in a way that is very rebellious towards government. Take those same actions over the big ponds sometime and see what venue you're booked in, chances are it will be a labor camp or at least one with bars.
  20. I have read numerous books on the Civil War and make a point to visit a historical site when I am in a certain area, be it Union or Confederate. I am fascinated with the entire time period, the war, politics, relics, and all that is associated with this part of our history. I am related to Confederate War Veterans, both with lineal and collateral family heritage.
  21. I like the way our politicians have decided to control us by denying out right to vote on an issue that was signed by our Governor months ago. Talk about BS! I can see them talking about it now when Governor Deal signed the bill, "Yeah, we just won't put it on the ballot." Whether you're against it or not, there is no reason to not put it on the ballot. I can't believe we're still arguing about this. Just let the damn people vote! Some people from certain political parties wave the flag and recite our forefathers constantly. Then put your money where your mouth is and let our citizens vote on
  22. I haven't had a home phone in 8 or 9 years as well, no use for them. So I have not received one robo call in years. Just lots of mailers I use for dust pans.
  23. It's a play on words that's all. It's funny to look through their "new release" section and see a movie that I saw at the theater in 1997. I've kept their streaming for the tv series they have in their library and the occasional movie from long ago that I missed. They seriously need to step it up, although I don't see it happening due to financial reasons.
