Why are we becoming a society of pill poppers?
HiPlainsDrifter replied to onekidmom's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It's the bad seeds on the streets that make it hard for the patients in real pain. I can see a day when narcotic pain medication is wiped out and yes the addicts will be stopped in their tracks at the Dr's offices and pharmacies. But what about the guy suffering with arthritis or even cancer, he gets punished for some scumbags habit? I am prescribed a pain killer that I take as needed for migraines. Yes I take excedrin most of the time and when I'm lucky it works. But there are those couple of times a month when it goes on all day and the light starts to hurt my eyes,I get sick to the stomach -
He was hitting them out of the park at batting practice in FL. He hit a Coke truck in the parking lot and the assistant manager's car and busted the sun roof. This kid was sending out there to the 400-500 mark many times during minors and pre season. I wished I could have been there in the stadium when he hit that one yesterday, it had to be extremely loud. I'm not gonna base the season on one game, but it sure was fun to watch.

Hats off to this officer of the law for being inventive and making the prisoners work for a privilege. Political correctness found it's way into our jails ( yes they are jails, not "rehabilitation facilities") a long time ago. The government should spend it's time and energy worrying about whether or not our Military Veteran's hospitals and other facilities are properly equipped instead of the losing sleep over law breakers. The law breakers had their chance out in society and they lost it, now deal with the consequences. Help the men and women who are willing to die for their country not the

Seven Hills Amenities (esp. Basketball Courts)
HiPlainsDrifter replied to aReLBee's topic in RECENT TOPICS
If you let them keep coming by, they will take and take until you are asking to use your own facilities that you pay for every year. I have seen it happen too many times, degenerates start coming in and taking over a recreation area and everything goes down hill for the good kids. I pay dues for amenities and I'm not letting anyone that didn't pay their fair share use it also. As far as I'm concerned it's looting and stealing, leeches are what they are, trespassers who want to take from hard working people like us. They can go out and get a job, get a loan, buy a house in a subdivision and pay -
Obviously proof that entering a political office and entering a voting booth to cast a vote does not require an IQ test. Our representatives in office do just that, they "represent us".

My wife is from Michigan and has always made the white bread stuffing, dressing. The kids and I did convince her this year to use cornbread, which is something she has never tried. I've got my fingers crossed that she like it.

I've got my eyes set on a new gun and went as far to print up the stats page which includes a nice color picture of the gun I want, barrel size and everything. I laid it on the printer in full view when the wife sat down at the computer. All I got was a ," What is this?" and "I'll add it to the picture of the new Harley." Needless to say I don't think she was sold.

steaks out of the back of a truck
HiPlainsDrifter replied to whitewaterkayaker's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I did try Schwans about 10 years ago, food was good if I remember, but way too high, especially in these times. These guys that sell meat out the back of their truck is something I've seen from Nevada to Georgia. My wife and I have always said no to buying meat via these guys. I'm sure there are some good guys out there and some of the meat may be ok, but sorry I feel like I'm chancing it enough even buying from the stores sometimes, much less out of the back of a truck. I suppose the approaches by these guys have made me cautious also. The last time I met one I was at the drug store and some -
I am very concerned for the girl who was attacked and always hate to hear of any dog attack. Fault usually falls on the dog quickly, even going as far as to show a picture of the canine, but not enough attention is spotlighted on the owner. As a dog owner you are responsible for your dog, end of story. Just as you are responsible for your children, if they are prone to be destructive and dangerous, it's your responsibility to restrain them from the public. There are leash laws and regulations covering the containment of your dog, abide by them or be held responsible. My wife and I have a 140

My wife's father died when she was younger so I did not have the chance to ask him unfortunately. However I did ask her mother for her blessing and promised her that I would take care of her daughter and love her till the day I die. This was not a ploy to gain respect or to make an impression, just a simple case of manners, it's the way my parent's raised me. Even though this was both our second marriage and we're older, asking her mother was something that just seemed natural. My wife's ex husband made it even easier for me though, as I was told he had no manners. The day I spoke to my mother

I always had real trees as a kid and somewhere along the way went to artificial with my parents and for years to come. My wife reintroduced me to a real tree and I will never go back. I love the smell and the look of a real tree. Speaking of which, since we just moved here to Dallas, I'll be asking about where to buy a decently priced real tree in the Dallas area, once the time comes.

Georgia Authorities Cracking Down on Seatbelts
HiPlainsDrifter replied to MillCreek's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I've come to expect this program during any holiday time. I read once that more people are killed during the Thanksgiving holiday on the road than any other. I don't know if that holds true or not, but there are alot of people on the road during that time. I realize that alot of DUI arrest are made due to seat belt checks, and for some part the checks are a back door to catching DUI and drug offenders. I don't mind it really, they make it safer to be on the road and as long as you obey the law you have nothing to worry about anyway. -
My wife and I are having my 4 kids over for Thanksgiving. My daughter moved out 2 years ago but still comes back for Thanksgiving without us asking. My oldest son will be heading to basic training in February so this will be a special holiday for us to share with him. It's also the first Thanksgiving we're having in our new home here in Dallas, so that's an addition to a special occasion. My wife and I spend the whole day cooking lots of food. We love to cook meals together , and especially on the holidays. I'll start cooking pecan pies, using Great Grandmother's recipe, and a pumpkin pie the

I'm originally from Savannah,GA, went to high school in Augusta,GA. I don't count the places I lived while in the military, too many to name, I went back to Augusta before deciding to move to Atlanta. I ended up in Vinings 6 years ago and was more than happy to move to Dallas recently. My wife is originally from Kalamazoo,Michigan and loves it here in Dallas.

A big salute to all of the men and women who have served our country.

On this Veterans Day, I am reminded of how our system treats it's veterans as opposed to it's criminals. It's a sad state of affairs when a killer, rapist or child molester can get three meals a day, shelter and medical care and we have men and women who served our country who struggle. The cost of supporting one worthless criminal, who was given a chance in society and blew it,could go to help many veterans who dedicated their life to our country. As far as religion, I don't knock anyone's belief, but my opinion is that the good Lord gave us the power to govern ourselves and pass judgment on th

If more parents were that concerned with their kids behavior and punished when it was called for, we wouldn't have the juvenile problems that face us. Hats off to those mothers and fathers who straighten their kids up in public rather than ignoring the behavior. I see mothers disciplining their kids in public and I almost want to clap for them. Kids will be kids and I excuse alot of behavior, I have a few of them myself, people need to understand the nature of kids. It's the mothers who ask their kids to behave that irritate me. My parents never asked me to behave, they told me to. Hats off to

When it comes to the entire judicial process for these low life's, the execution is the most productive use of tax dollars. I'm against the concern for doing it in a humane way or how the killer feels, my only concern is for the murdered victim. Execute them quick and cheap as possible. Killers, rapist and child molesters all carry an evil in their heart. They are like cock roaches, you can never change them, rehabilitate them, it is in their nature to infest, devour, infect and destroy society. The only choice left in order to protect ourselves from their nature is to exterminate them. Yeah I'm

How much did your entire wedding cost?
HiPlainsDrifter replied to christinastew08's topic in RECENT TOPICS
My wife and I spent around $250 total on the the actual wedding. This included the license, paying the minister and what we wore. I bought my clothes on closeout for a total of $25 at Penney's and my wife was given her dress. We were married in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan in October. The area we chose was 3 miles down a logging road in the middle of the woods. The minister's daughter took pictures with our camera and acted as a witness. There was freezing rain and sleet on the way to the spot but it ceased as soon as we began and then started again once we ended. There were no sounds of car -
I can't wait to hear about this ship's first encounter with pirates.

He was a good guy from what I can tell. I was very impressed that he was married in 1975 well before fame came visiting. He stuck with his wife and didn't let the Hollywood lights take him away from the woman he loved. He had a little bit of both sides, the hard nose tough guy that he inherited from his Dad the cowboy to the man who could sweep a woman off her feet with his dancing, that he picked up from his Mother. I paid special attention to him when he was diagnosed as I was diagnosed with cancer at the same time. His was a much more severe cancer, but he was very inspirational nonetheless
