I thought my first was a boy, but I REALLY thought my second was a girl (think it was just from family pressure, though). I really feel like this is a third boy, but I don't know if I'm just feeling that way because I'm hoping for one. I need some girls in this house! I'm not a gender neutral fan at all, so I will have to have my mom or MIL or someone come and decorate the nursery before I get home from the hospital. Ha...I'll have to have all my stuff picked out and let them go out and put everything together. That's the only way I see of doing it if I don't find out because I *need* th

That is true...but even though I don't care if this is a boy or a girl, I will not be quite as excited if it's a boy. So that may be another good reason for me to wait. It's just there are no granddaughters in the family, and this will be the last baby (hubbie's sister is done with two boys and his brother is apparently not going to have any...don't think so, anyway), so...while I will still be happy, it will be a bit of an "Oh" for some of our family members...lots of pressure. Ick. I think I am naming it Madeline if it's a girl. Not sure about a boy's name yet. Course, I didn't name Ty

Oh, I could definitely keep the secret. Like I said, with my last baby we didn't tell, but DH did slip in the delivery room before he came out. My mom asked if he wanted any more kids and he said, "No, I'm getting a vasectomy. I've got two boys to carry on my name." I was soo mad. Lol. I think I am going to wait...as hard as it will be! I am going to try, anyway.

If someone had a cardiac arrest in your presence, what would you do?

Woohoo...got it right, but that's only because I'm studying medical stuff I wouldn't have known before. -
Oh, really??? I hate that I missed it then. I went, but I got a to-go order instead. DH had to be at work, so we didn't have time to sit down and eat. But I did have them apply the percentage for Cody. Wish I could have met him and his mom!

Well, I was going to order stuff and keep it at a friend's (who'd be the only person to know)..room would be green, probably. Aw, I bet you were shocked! My mom had nothing but girls, and if this is a boy it will be the 5th grandson (no granddaughters). I really think the baby is another boy, but I don't know if I'm just saying that to prepare for another boy or not. See, that is how I imagine I will be...thinking no and then when asked...say yes. Lol. I am *really* trying to convince myself to wait, but also trying to convince myself to find out. My head says YES,

I need some more opinions on this! It's all I can think about and I have no idea what to do. I found out the sex with my first at 19 weeks. There was no doubt I wanted to find out. I really wanted a boy and wanted to know what he was. With my second, I wanted it to be a surprise. I just like having different experiences and wanted to experience both. I asked the tech to tell me to look away when she was scanning over the genital area. Well, she didn't! She was too busy talking and just forgot to tell me. Needless to say, his boy parts were clearly visible and I knew what they were.

Tonight we will be having Texas Roadhouse since it is the fundraiser today for the boy who was having surgery in a couple of weeks. Probably steaks for us.
-
I agree...I LOVE TGIF steaks. Went to that location with my mom and husband once. It was terrible. She ordered fish and hated it, too. It just was not good. I don't know what the problem with that location is, but none of us liked our meal.
-
I have never tried it, but I can totally see how it would taste similar. I don't really have any suggestions. Luckily, my boys both love veggies. My husband likes them too, but of course he would rather have meat.

I HIGHLY recommend Forrest Hills Mountain Resort. It's a little bit of a drive (Dahlonega), but it didn't take us that long to get there. We have been dying to go back, but we just haven't gotten a chance. We got married there and also had our honeymoon there. It's an AWESOME place to stay and the food is really good. It's extremely romantic, and they have activities you can do. Horseback riding, massages, climb a waterfall with a nice picnic basket, etc. Google it...really neat place and very reasonably priced.

That looks really good!!!!! I hate to say it, but I haven't decorated in 2 years. It's not that I don't want to...it just seems like I never get around to it. I guess it's not as important to me since I have small boys and we go out to trick-or-treat. I definitely plan on getting a pumpkin and carving it up, though, with my oldest. That is something I've actually never done myself.

Well, the story of Gwen is really a side story from another doll. She is the other doll's friend (who is not homeless and has a home). Apparently, the story is about bullying, which is obviously an important topic among children. You are right, LM dolls are not really for play, but I took very good care of my dolls. I always wanted to be a mom...maybe that explains why I have my third on the way already!

You are so right. And you know what? MY DAD WAS/sorta is HOMELESS! Yes! Well, not so much anymore, but he is living with his dad. He lost his house to foreclosure and had nowhere to go. For the few weeks that he mooched off siblings, he didn't look homeless. He wore the same clothes. What was he supposed to do? Sell them on eBay for food? Lol........ YES, YES, YES!!!!!! Just as I said previously, AG dolls are about girls OVERCOMING hardships. The other AG stories aren't fantasies, either, but all of the girls overcome their own struggles. I'm sick of talking about dolls..

<~ Wish I could have one of those right about now!
-
Well, I try to always understand other viewpoints. And I do get what you are saying, I do! But to me, I guess since I had AG dolls myself, I guess it makes more sense. I think it would be different if, say, Matel came out with the doll and sold it for the same price at Walmart or something. But that's just me...I'm a doll collecter/doll maker, so I guess I am just more lenient to the price side of it.

Oh, I totally agree with you...honestly, it doesn't matter to me if someone buys $1,000 shoes or $1,000 dinners. I don't see this thread being about the doll. Not after reading the OP's pattern of thread topics and posts. I am just saying that I find it funny someone who seems to live so luxuriously would call this doll overpriced. It just smells fishy to me...
-
BTW, it's "darlin'" around here, not darling...and please never call me that again. What are you? 2 years older than me?
-
I find it ironic that you came and started a thread about this doll, really. You stated it was overpriced, etc, and yet (after doing some searching of your posts out of curiosity since a lot of people here seem to dislike you for some reason), nearly every thread you start or post you do is somehow related to money. Expensive shoes, dresses, trips to Mexico, Spain, Italy...honestly, you are either very much a hypocrite to talk about the realities of homelessness living that type of lifestyle but declaring a $100 doll overpriced--when some of the stuff you have posted make that seem like a comb

OMG...you have to share! LOL. My husband *always* tries to get me to eat there, and I say no. I am not a fried chicken fan...would rather have grilled. I know, I'm lame.

I am just curious to see how this all ends up working out. Republican or Democrat, they are both saying different things about the bill. The CBO cannot seem to get their facts straight, either. I read the other day that for my income level, I could end up paying a lot more than we pay now ($600+/mo) for insurance if things work out a certain way. Of course, there are so many different ways they are trying to do things right now...it's hard to even talk about it because nothing is fact yet. One thing is for sure...I read a report about Medicare acknowledging they pay astrono

Forgive me for not paying attention to detail, but do you have a daughter as well? If not, perhaps that is why you are missing the point. People don't buy these dolls to teach their kids about homelessness. People buy these dolls because their girls are ALREADY collecting American Girl dolls. If I had every AG doll or a had a collection, I would probably want this one too. Good for you for doing what you did with the homeless, but everyone is not you. Everyone has a different way of getting messages across to their child, and the fact is...the girls that are receiving this doll are MOST

I don't think they are trying to glamorize it. I don't think the doll looks homeless, but perhaps that is the very point. That the "new homeless" look like ordinary people, some with nice clothing, because that is who is losing their homes in droves these days..."ordinary," normal people who just happened to have their luck run out. I honestly don't see what the big deal is. I think American Girl was just trying to be relevant to the times. People are homeless in the Bronx all the time...there is always some part of a large city where it is very commonplace to have homeless people just w

I also want to add that the spokesman for WHO said within the last day or two that out of nearly 40,000 already vaccinated in China, only 4 have had side effects, which were mild (muscle cramps and headache). I think those are good numbers. On the other hand, for the pregnant population, of the 700 documented cases of H1N1, 4% (28) have died. Of course, there are many pregnant women who probably have not been to the doctor that have it. But, still...we have to go by facts, and the fact is 4% of those documented cases have resulted in death, most of which were healthy women in their third trime
