  1. Trying to stay positive after a very horrendous day that will possibly affect the next few months. <~ That is a real smile...honest....
  2. Same here... I actually went to Target the other day to try to get a carving kit. I couldn't find one anywhere in there. I don't think they had any, or if they did they were not where they were supposed to be! Wal-Mart tomorrow, it is!
  3. Portland, Maine is my favorite place that I have visited. It is *so* beautiful up there and very quaint. When I visited, I was visiting a boyfriend. He warned me that people would act strange if we were around anyone and happened to see a black or Hispanic person. Apparently, people are literally afraid of other races up there. I have to say, though, that the entire time I was there I didn't see one person of another race...it was so weird...almost unnatural. Lol. And I went to a busy, crowded mall. It's still my favorite place, though...
  4. It is probably because if you get the H1N1 you probably will not need it. Children with weakened immune systems or chronic health issues and those in high-risk groups can get the pneumonia vaccine. Most people only need the shot once.
  5. My aunt died of pneumonia--secondary to the flu--in July. She was only 51-years-old. Considering it was July, I'm taking a very good guess that it was H1N1. But since that side of my family is very slack in their reporting of things, I doubt they bothered to even tell the hospital that she had the flu to begin with. I'm sure they looked into it, but I do not know the details about the hospital or what they knew. Anyway, of course the docs are saying it isn't that bad. And the truth is, for *most* people, so far it isn't. But the same can be said of the seasonal flu. Most people who get t
  6. There is really enough of the mist to go around, even now. Tons of people have gotten the mist and continue to get it. There is hype without enough vaccine because we can't control the yield from the eggs. It has to be grown in eggs and it hasn't been quite as fast or successful as hoped. Plus, the vaccine is not being made in the US. I mean, we don't have much control over that. We ordered 250 million doses and haven't received all of it yet. We aren't the only country in the world ordering it. We can't bully the eggs
  7. I don't believe hype just to believe it. I rolled my eyes at the West Nile and bird flu media coverage. But the fact that I have kids and this has killed more children in 7 months than seasonal kills in a year is reason for me to be concerned about it. And the fact that 4% (based on data a few weeks ago, could be higher now) of pregnant women hospitalized died.
  8. H1N1 killed 19 KIDS in the past week...not 19 people. The total for kids is now at 114, up from 95 last week. I'm surprised no one finds that alarming considering that those deaths have occurred in the last 7 months vs. the 12 month total of around 80 kids that is reported for seasonal flu. And we have not even hit winter yet. Most of those child deaths occurred during warm/hot months. I find that very concerning. As far as the total deaths from H1N1 vs seasonal flu...well, I have no answer about that. I'm sure it's less severe for many people, but the fact is that it has killed more chi
  9. Magic Erasers are just awesome! My son decided to draw two very large circles on his carpet with a Sharpie, and guess what??? You'd never know it now! It took me a while, but the ME got it all up!
  10. I haven't seen that. But the one I hate the most is the Barbie commercial that goes something like, "Now it's time to rinse, getting ready for the prince...Come on Barbie...Barbie girl!" UGH. I don't know the words, but I just can't stand it. It's so cheesy and I just hate it.
  11. I could so eat all of those burgers with no problem. I eat like 2 grown men. Lol.
  12. Thank you! I will call them on Monday when they open. I hope they have some!
  13. ?? Pregnant women CANNOT get the mist. It contains live virus, therefore, pregnant women can't get it. I'm not sure on the 28%, but I do know there have been many fatalities among pregnant women, which is why I am trying so hard to find the shot. Thank you for "urging" me, but I clearly want it and am looking for it...there are plenty of other people who need real urging to get this. Not me.
  14. Unfortunately, that is just for the mist...which neither my son or I can get. We need the shot.
  15. Well, according to them they are not on the list. They wanted it, but apparently it is up to their particular supplier and whether their particular supplier gets it. So they are not getting it. Sucks... I read that Columbus has the injections, but for some stupid reason people are also calling the mist injections since you "inject" the mist...stupid. But I'm pretty sure they have the shot from what I have read. I'm going to call when they are next open and if I have to, I will drive down there. I want it that bad! Well, if they are over 6 months they can receive the sho
  16. Thanks...I called, but they are only offering it to their patients...and I can't switch doctors soon enough to make it worth doing. Ugh!! This just frustrates me so bad. I'm PREGNANT and supposed to be one of the first in line to get it and cannot find it! Really infuriates me!
  17. Wow...I called and the lady practically laughed at me. She was like, "HAHA! That's hilarious!!!" I was like, "Okay...do you know when you will be getting it?" She said they are not getting it. And Lisa, they don't have it yet at the health dept...already checked there. That is where my husband and oldest son got the mist because their pediatrician's office does not have it yet.
  18. I really need the H1N1 shot and cannot find it. My husband and oldest son have both received the mist, so now my baby and I need it. I have called so many places and they all say they do not have it, but I have heard that people have gotten it...where are they getting it??? Anyone know of a place that at least *did* have it? I'm getting desperate and tired of calling place after place. I think it's VERY unfortunate that they tell you to get it, how important it is to get it, and yet it's NOWHERE to be found and there really is no source to go to for information. I found a list of places
  19. It has killed 95 children so far just since April. That is 6 months, and the seasonal flu normally kills around 80 children in a YEAR's time. Many of those children were healthy with no underlying conditions. I would say that is pretty bad considering we are not even into winter yet. Just because your family got through it and was lucky does not mean the next family will be. I'm sure none of the families who lost their children to this flu thought they would have to bury their children.
  20. This thread is a relief to me. I recently heard some iffy things about Poole from a friend, but they had just heard some hearsay and neither of us knew if it was a good school or not. This has made me feel better, for sure. My son will probably be going there if we do not continue him into a private school (he is in private pre-k now). What is great is that we are very close to Poole, so I would no doubt be able to take and pick him up every day, which is very important to me.
  21. I've never had a pomegranate. I've had pom juice, etc, but no actual pomegranate fruit. I have never seen them in stores and have looked for them...just can't find them. Maybe they only sell them at "classy" grocery stores like Whole Foods and Publix.
  22. It is possible. The virus is colonizing right now, so it's possible, but it could also be a coincidence. My oldest son and my husband got the flu mist 2 days ago. No issues here from either one of them.
  23. I ate a pound of spaghetti every day while pregnant with my oldest. YES, a pound! Every day! I was lucky to only gain 18 pounds, but boy did I eat a lot of spaghetti. The only sauce I would eat was the cheap Del Monte Green peppers and mushrooms. Weird.
  24. Ah, okay...so...I think I read that what I would have to do is purchase the cereal at sale price without the extra care bucks, then go right back and get more cereal and get the extra bucks benefit? Am I right to say that? I think I get all the other coupon tricks now...I was just confused about when you actually got the extra care bucks.
  25. I may try couponing this week. DH got some papers and I found some coupons I may use. I'm just confused about the CVS extra bucks. I have a coupon to save $1 on three General Mills cereals when I buy three. CVS ad says with card, all GM cereals are 2/$6, extra bucks reward on 2 is $2. It says it's like getting 2/$4 after extra bucks. What are the extra bucks and how do they work? Is there something special I have to do? Are they automatically applied to the purchase, or should I have earned them from previous shopping trips? I just don't quite get it...I said it before, I'm c
