  1. Been burned too many times from used car dealers. Over the years, i have learned to buy from individuals to save the sales tax and to research the vehicle's model/year for common problems, and i very rarely pay above wholesale for any vehicle (that is all it is worth to an insurance company anyway).
  2. I say go for it. If i am not mistaken, chatt tech's design program is only at the mountain view campus -- canton road / sandy plains road -- long drive to the other side of marietta. Either way, they are on the semester system (when you would start), so jump in their in fall term (august) or you will have to wait until january. Under the HOPE program, it should be almost free to go there. Put in your application and schedule to take their in house COMPASS test before you start missing deadlines
  3. if you are saying it gets cold for a little while, then goes back to warm, then the compressor might be overheating and kicking off, etc. When it runs cold temporarily, is the outside fan (compressor unit) turning? If so, then does the fan stop after a while with the compressor still running? or, the other way around - does the compressor stop running but the fan keeps turning? (overheating) It also could be: evaporator unit icing up after running a while (freon issue), If outside is overheating, then it is either the fan motor / compressor itself or their respective run capacitor
  4. subsidies or not it ethanol is required (at least in major cities) due to the EPA and emissions laws in motor vehicles.
  5. My neighbor had a claim paid by greystone about 10 years ago. Not sure of the details other than almost every electronic in the house was zapped. Sounds like in your case, only the kitchen area was affected. Did you get the surge protection when you signed up for power service? May be worth investigating further.
  6. get a free consult with dr. grant in D'ville. He does both types of braces and in house financing, etc if you need it. We wanted the more expensive invisalign, he talked us out of it due to the higher cost and would have taken about 8 more months to correct the daughter's teeth than the traditional braces.
  7. The classes (resume writing and interviewing skills, etc) are mandatory for everyone receiving unemployment. You get one each month or so. That said, they only cut you off if you are audited and you have not taken any. Just like the IRS, very few get audited unless they bring attention on themselves. Anyway, if they cut off the benefit, there is a appeal / hearing process you will have to go through & they could re-instate payments anyway. I doubt anyone would be on unemployment for "YEARS" without going back to work and earning income for that quarter and re-applying again as
  8. there is a 3rd one out there --- Yiayia on parenting. She asks the husband why he doesn't work & then calls him the "wife" of the family http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9LinzE_85I
  9. The company claims 8% to 10% fuel savings. Will still take a while for the average consumer to recover the $250 to $500 cost plus the installation fee if you have to have a mechanic do it. May be worth it for a fleet or high mileage daily drivers though.
  10. if they were going to build in that area, then probably the best idea would be along the hiram bypass being cut in now. (92 near the catfish den)
  11. pet food doesn't qualify either........ but then again, maybe the lobster is for a cat
  12. sorry, i have never heard of the chattahoochee tech version of windows xp. ---- Was it a legal copy or a borrowed one from the school using their site license? If the CD/DVD automatically installed without asking for a product key, then it is probably licensed to the school.
  13. I am not familiar with Ga Highland's program, but almost every school is going to require SAT or ACT scores unless you are a transfer student with 3o+ hours coming in. Even with the SAT taken, the school usually will require you to take the compass test in house (unless you have really high SAT scores, etc). Also, after admission to the school, almost all nursing schools require you to take the TEAS test before letting you into their medical program. With Chattahoochee's program, there is a waiting list of 6 months to a year. Some students will enter early to take the math and biolog
  14. I would recommend you get another opinion, they are free anyway, only your (& kid's) time. We have gone to Grant Orthodontics in D'ville with no problems. Kids lengths ranged from 18 months to 26 months.
  15. ha ha --- just saying, there's always a clown out there, like in these examples: myfoxchicago.com/dpp/news/crime/steven-dragon-cocaine-stolen-man-calls-911-20100916 911wackos.blogspot.com/2008/07/drug-dealer-called-911-to-report-stolen.html
  16. To clarify, these are for take back of unwanted Prescription Drugs / Medications. If you bring in items of a non-prescription variety unlabeled or in plastic bags, etc, you may not be going back home today.
  17. that could be a problem initially, but then those left would be really polite to each other!
  18. i have had good luck in the past with kayak.com and orbitz.com. You can also sign up for their alerts because sometimes the prices will drop on certain days of the week, etc. Also, there may be a better deal leaving through birmingham or chattanooga airports
  19. The front loaders have those miniature shock absorbers as well as heavy springs. The shocks wear out the same as your cars do. Mine was 4 years old & vibrating bad and found that it both worn out shocks and one shock had broken away from the drum. $9 per shock absorber and runs like new. When they vibrate severely during the spin cycle, the computer doesn't let them get up to full speed. They still run for the full time cycle though. The clothes come out still too wet and the dryer has to run longer to compensate.
  20. the original intent was to start a pre-k, get computers in all the public schools, GED training & vouchers, and HOPE at the college level. Now the aging computers are not being replaced, pre-k is cut, and HOPE is cut. Similar thing with toll roads like GA-400, once voted in place - OK to change the rules later.
  21. Not sure when you graduated, but now they are graduating and not able to get a job to pay their student loans. I know several students that have under-grad and grad degrees and they are now using the HOPE grant to take one class at a time at the local tech school in a diploma program (free). As long as they are in school somewhere, they don't have to pay on those loans (and that 6 month clock doesn't start for the recent grads)
  22. It is not necessarily about the 90% tuition as much as it is about the nickle & diming with all the "hidden" fees the colleges are charging outside the "tuition" The 10% cut is merely the final straw in most families budgets.
  23. You should get it checked out. It could be a minor issue with irritable bowel or could be colon cancer. Only a doc with tests can figure it out for sure. It's not going to be cheap anywhere you go, but southside medical center will bill you based on income. If you have to get a colonospopy, they may run you through grady as an indigent / low income patient. Start keeping a food diary and notice when you have the flare-ups. Most med-websites will tell you to stay away from anything containing seeds and nuts, etc. Temporarily change your diet to soft foods, little or no meats, soups, ma
  24. Depends on where it is leaking..... pipes and valves can be repaired/replaced, but if it is the tank itself, then there is nothing you can do about it except get a another one. ( except this may be a good time to get a tankless water heater, if you have been putting it off)
  25. the warehouse of hope in douglasville / hunter road is on most colleges community service lists. they have day and night opportunities during the week. http://www.warehouseofhope.org
