  1. You are right about trying to contain the moisture. Once mold gets started in your boxes, clothes and books, etc, it is hard to get rid of. You will end up throwing out alot of your personal stuff. Depending on how much you want to spend, here are some things i had to do to seal my basement: Epoxy concrete floor paint, not the regular concrete paint. Plastic sheeting / moisture barrier on the concrete walls behind the stud walls with a "breathing" area -- if the walls are seeping, you may also have to pour a concrete "speed bump" to guide the water away from the stud wall. Dehumid
  2. I wasn't poking at the local government. The stats are delayed like that nationwide --- we are already in september 2011, but they can't release the stats from 2010? (or 2009 from some cities?)

  6. no, these are the original discs from the early 1980s and they are 12" diameter --- way before CD ROM and DVD. They are the same size as the old LP record albums. When everyone was buying and renting VHS tapes, the laserdisc was the rich man's alternative for high quality movies.
  7. yahoo finance article on the continuing rise in food prices quote from the article: "There have been many corn crop failures across North America also, but the real culprit for corn is that it is being used to make ethanol, an arguably sustainable fuel. Hundreds of thousands of acres that once grew corn for people now grow it to power our cars." 9. which side of the fence are you on? Only 3 weeks ago, you were bragging on paulding.com about buying a lawn mower starter online when there are at least 3 local dallas / hiram companies (commerce members too) that would of had that starter in stock.
  10. paulding county government is looking for a water system dispatcher and a computer technician.
  11. The older laser disks are still popular in japan (i know, strange) and people are selling them on ebay. Most local people with accounts only see the U.S. auctions. Depending on the movies you have, there might be some money there. For example, if you have disney "Song of the South", they have been selling for $150 to $200 (it was not released officially in the U.S.), while the vhs version is going for $60+ .
  12. they are sandwich sized bags or sometimes door-hanger sized and they are advertising their "specials". They have some gravel in them to keep them blowing away when they are thrown in the driveway / yard.
  13. we got those advertisements / bags earlier this summer in the ridge road area, they finally stopped after a month or so.
  14. that particular one has alot of complaints online. some of the common issues that are reported are excessive commercials, can't uninstall the player once it is loaded, etc. If you have any company names, etc, go to a search engine and type in the "name" and the word "scam" or "problem" after it & search that way. another helpful link is: www.scamfreeinternet.com/scam-list/online-tv-scams/
  15. now you know there are 2 sets of rules being used out there...
  16. There are lots of companies out there offering "free" tv online right now. Some will have excessive commercials and pop-ups, so is it really free? I am not sure which company you are referring to and is it live tv with local channels or pre-recorded shows that you play back. Do you have fast enough internet to be able to watch "live" tv?

  20. Having worked for a trash company and several utilities co-op'ing while in college, I can say the little things like that make a difference in the work day. These workers move 600+ trash cans a day. That is also why i keep the water meter box clear of debris and the hedges trimmed near the electric & gas meters. Most people don't think of the meter readers either. Hey, i've been out there reading 300-400 meters a day. It's good karma too!
  21. wow, someone actually remembered that ----- but it wasn't exactly a law, govenor zell miller actually made an "executive order" in 1996 that established the State Olympic Law Enforcement Command and put it under GEMA jurisdiction (state emergency management administration). This executive order placed all of the state’s resources for public safety under a single command with authority throughout the state. The original premise was to encompass 29 different law enforcement agencies (cities and counties)for protection during the olympic games, but since the games, it is still in effect (and

  23. open office is not "fully" compatible. only if you create basic documents with limited formatting, etc does it interchange among programs. As soon as you add columns, tables and mail merge to word or embedding videos , etc you will see its limitations. That is why most colleges (including chattahoochee tech)require students to submit projects using ms-office products and not open office.
