AMEN!!! And AMEN!! I can't tell you how many times a truck has turned over there. Not the first fatality at that intersection involving a tractor trailer, either. Prayers for all involved. Glad I don't have to worry about my daughter being involved. And just to be fair, that is a terrible design for an intersection that sees tractor trailers like it does. I always refused to be in the right lane turning left onto 278 from Westside. I had seen more than one truck tip over. Whoever did the design there should be made to make that turn in a semi, with a fully loaded,

If my friend has to have the psych evaluation, she won't have the surgery. She has a completely unrealistic view of what the surgery involves, not just the actual surgery but the expectations and what will be required of her in the future. She is already talking about what wonderful foods she can again enjoy without having to worry about her weight. She sees this as an effortless way to lose weight and she has to do absolutely nothing to achieve it. She can have the surgery and viola! she will walk out of the hospital a new person and enjoy all the food that has been forbidden for so lon

I'm really enjoying reading this thread. I have a dear friend who is likely going to have this (if she has to have a pscyh profile done, she won't have the surgery but that's another matter entirely). Wish she could read these comments.

Lets hope we dont lose more another big retail chain in hiram
Mama Carol replied to oneijack's topic in RECENT TOPICS
I think you're right about that. I was thinking it was the two in Hiram that merged but seems like it was Office Depot and Office Max. We have Office Depot here in town but that is the only one of the three office supply chains where I don't have a rewards account. Hoping they keep Office Max and turn our Office Depot into Office Max. I used to think that, too. In fact, I HATED Staples. But I had a bad experience in the OM there in Hiram and switched to Staples. I found they were a little cheaper on most things, too. I'm a gel pen junkie and they have a much bet -

If memory serves me correctly, Office Max and Staples merged. Only makes sense that they would close some stores that are in close proximity to another one. I would think the Office Max would close since that is an older store and very difficult to get to. I loved the Staples there in Hiram. Office supply stores to me are like a guy going into a hardware store. -
I have a few questions for you business management folks
Mama Carol replied to nschur's topic in RECENT TOPICS
That's certainly true IF she left the other job(s) due to a layoff. If she left them for any other reason that would make her ineligible to draw from a prior employer, she wouldn't be eligible to draw now. And she wouldn't be drawing on the current employer's account. My SIL went through this when the restaurant where he had worked for just a couple of weeks closed down. He filed because he had been working long enough at the previous job to qualify. But he quit that job to take the one in the restaurant that closed, so he was ineligible to draw even though he had worked there plenty -

60 days isn't long enough to qualify for unemployment. I'd chalk it up as experience and move on, a bit wiser from the experience. I hope she keeps in mind the old adage, fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I wondered if it was the same place. -

How long did she work there? There is a minimum number of weeks you must work before you are eligible for unemployment. I think it's 20 weeks (it used to be at least). And unless she/you are really desperate for the income, if it were me I would never again darken their doors. And if I never darkened their doors again and I wasn't there long, I would omit that job from a resume. If they screwed her while she worked there, you can only imagine what they might do if they were called for a reference. One thing I don't and won't tolerate is an employer screwing me over about money. I' -
I don't make those interest free loans to the government. I sure see a lot of people who do. Sad, really.

What is a refund?

Little snothead just didn't have any respect for his elders did he? LOL I know I have a couple of years on you, but it might take me 20 minutes to get to the ice cream. I'm sure it would if I were told they were closing in 20 minutes. I'd make it 25 minutes just to be difficult. If they don't tell me they're closing in 20 minutes, I'll go in to get what I need and leave and be back home in 10. Yeah, it's a different world now. People who would still be baggers back then because of their age are now store managers.

Slow-poke bill aims to stop left-lane lingerers

We have it here in Florida. I haven't noticed a difference. -
Considering the information you have to give in order to report someone, it isn't happening. Most people who "know" someone who has committed tax fraud does not have the information needed. Without it, the IRS is just going to shrug their shoulders and say "we will look into it".

Everyone talks about equality but nobody wants to be equal. They either want to have more, be more, do more or don't want others to have more, be more or do more. You know--equal but not equal.

As a child, I have 56 different food allergies. Some caused a mild reaction and some caused major reactions. It was up to ME to follow my diet. If I couldn't eat something that was served, I either did without or brought my lunch. The menu was posted at least a week in advance so I would know when to take my lunch and when I could buy. Nobody was expected to take care of me but me. It's tough to be six and be told you can't eat that chocolate cake especially when your favorite is chocolate in any form. But it's tougher to be sick.

S corporations are pass through corporations, meaning the shareholders pay taxes on that income. Even C corporations that distribute dividends eventually pay taxes through those who receive dividends. Besides, the consumer/customer/client is the one who is actually paying any tax for the corporations, not the corporation. The taxes are passed along in the form of cost of product or service. Easy fix: do away with refundable credits meaning if you don't pay it in, you don't get it back. Make all credits non-refundable in that they reduce your tax liability and the

At that point it ceases to be a refund and becomes an acceptable form of welfare.

What I find very disturbing is people going around showing others their tax returns!!! I would get fired if I did that with one I had prepared. So why do people think it's OK to do it, even if it is their own? Do they have no fear of an audit? Wait, I know the answer to that and it is no. The maximum amount one can claim in EIC is $6143 with three kids and an income under $51,567 if they file married joint return. It's more complicated to figure out the maximum amount of child tax credit. You have to stand on your head, count your toes, names the days of the week that begin with T

I knew they did it in 2001 when my mom had to do it. She ended up having to connect to the sewer anyway when her septic tank drain field malfunctioned. She couldn't get a permit to have a new drain line installed because sewer was available. And she had already paid the tap on fee. In Douglas County, if water service is available you have to pay to tap on to that even if you use a well. Or at least you did back in the late 1990s when we were trying to figure out what it was going to cost us for utility service if we built a house. Florida is really funny about some things, too.
-
In the not-too-distant past, Cobb County required you to tap on to the sewer system if it was available even if you DID NOT use it. You had to pay the tap-on fee of around $700 even if you still used the septic tank in your yard. In fact, you didn't even have to CONNECT to the sewer system.

Since I think all child molesters should be executed, I'm certainly not in favor of one getting disability based on a mental illness. However, when one is approved or denied disability, the way that the disability interferes with one's ability to work is the only thing considered.

They treat it as a savings account. And you can't convince them that they would be better off taking the max in exemptions so they would have little if anything withheld and put that into a savings account (or even using it to pay your monthly bills) instead of using it as a savings account for your yearly spring break trip to Disney World. Have the least amount withheld and if you qualify for EIC, you'll still get that. Let THAT be your savings account with which you pay for your spring break trip. Tax preparers and accountants look at these things differently than does the genera
