I got crutches but sure could use a walker. Hoping to borrow one from a neighbor.

I hear you. My premium didn't go up that much, only about 18%. My deductible went up from $1500 to $6250. I have to pay 100% of everything before my insurance pays the first penny. So far, I have met $80 of my in-network deductible and about $200 of my out-of-network deductible which happens to be $12500. In a normal year, I don't even meet a $1000 deductible. So, why do I have to have insurance and meet a $6250 deductible before the insurance pays anything? I could have gone with a cheaper plan that had a premium a little closer to what I was already paying but I would have still ha

I live in Florida. My health insurance company is Florida Blue (yes, Blue Cross/Blue Shield under the new "friendlier" name). The rep I spoke to when I signed up was in Kansas I believe and then when they called to get additional information that person was in a call center in California. At any rate, I have spoken to a rep for "Florida Blue" about three times since I got the insurance in February. None of them have been in Florida. Ironically, the town where I live is considered the "call center mecca" for the southeast and they couldn't even put the call center in the same state.

Yeah, after all, it's not like any of this is related to the insurance we are now forced to buy.

did the law say insurance companies must sell you insurance if you have a pre-existing condition or does the law say they must sell you the insurance AND provide coverage for pre-existing conditions? Subtle difference, I know. Interesting that I have a current claim with a new orthopaedist who is in-network and that claim is currently "under review". The last time that happened to me, the claim was denied and my insurance was cancelled. I can't wait to see how this plays out.

You had an easier time finding crutches in your storage building than I did an orthopaedist who is in-network on my plan. A plan that costs ME just a few dollars shy of $500 a month. Could I go to one of the top of the line orthopaedists whose office is located a mere 2 1/2 miles from my house and who is on staff at one of the finest health care systems on the Gulf Coast? Nope. But on the plus side, my bilateral knee replacements should cost me $6250. Not a bad deal if you ask me. The out of pocket total would be approaching 100 grand. Thankfully, I have crutches. They might b

I went ahead and sent them another check for the $25 and will sort out the lost/misplaced payment later. It can just be applied to my next co-pay.

No, it's a hospital here locally. I have a canceled check. They have a bill. Let's see who wins this. I'm thinking they cannot prove they didn't get it while I can prove that it cleared my bank and was made payable to them. Edited to add that it is actually a doctor's office but they do their billing through HMA Corporation out of Belfast, ME. They used to do the billing out of an office maybe a mile and a half from my house. They should have kept it there.
-
Thanks. I thought they should but wanted to save a trip to the bank if they couldn't.
-
Can a bank trace a cancelled check and be able to determine who cashed or deposited the check and where? I used online bill pay to pay a doctor bill. They say they didn't get the payment. I have a cancelled check. The check was not endorsed but it definitely cleared the bank.

I found plums in my freezer along with the frozen veggies. Had no clue that the bagger put them in there like that. I didn't have them that way.

Why is the manager blamed for decisions that most likely have come down from HR and/or corporate?

Coffee being left in the cup that is sitting on the counter next to the sink. Dirty dishes on the right side of the sink when all the others are on the left side. No self-scan lanes at the grocery store. This really isn't a big deal except that I don't like a bag of frozen veggies in with my paper products or a carton of eggs in with my bag of flour. Wait, that's a whole 'nother thing.

Real Estate Question --- Can they really do this?
Mama Carol replied to AustinPlantation's topic in RECENT TOPICS
It could be one of several things. Like someone else said, it could be a condo rule. Another possibility is that it is a Fannie Mae property and if so, they require you, the buyer, be owner occupant for a certain period of time (in Florida, it is generally one year). It's not uncommon. We've seen that stipulation in several properties we have made offers on. Then again, maybe the agent is trying to discourage them. We have had THAT happen as well. In fact, occupancy was a stipulation in one we made an offer on and then someone else purchased the house. We had to sign an affidavit -

I think Randy and Spiff called it the fish song. I miss those guys. Bob and Tom in the morning just aren't nearly as good. -

OMG!! This is the song I tried to remember the other night. Hubby and I just called it "the fish song" because we couldn't remember the name. Now I know why I like you. You have the same kind of sense of humor that I do. Thanks Stradial! -
HOAs can do whatever the heck they want to do. That's why we only looked at houses in subdivisions that did not have them. But I agree. If the fence was approved in the past, it should be fine now. Once you get ready to replace it, you'll need to follow their rules about what to replace it with.

Remembering a cold April night at Atlanta Stadium 40 years ago
Mama Carol replied to surepip's topic in RECENT TOPICS
OMG! This is the first time in 39 years that the day just went by without a flinch or a tear. That very day was the day we found out my dad had terminal liver and pancreatic cancer. My aunts and uncles were at the stadium and one of them went to the phone to call and check on my dad who had had surgery that day. While she was on the phone, Hank hit #715 and she missed seeing it in spite of the fact that she was there. 40 years? Wow. I remember that day like it was yesterday (and actually better than I remember yesterday). I just let the date get by me this year. That does -
Love your family is a rule, I think? Advice Needed.

Why does your cousin owe the IRS? Unless the draws from the annuity was reported in his SS#, it isn't his. He shouldn't owe anything. Unless of course, he reported it as his. But even then, the IRS shouldn't be trying to collect anything from him. BTW, you are supposed to love your family but that doesn't mean you put your ass on the line for a cousin who is well-meaning but clueless. -

How does what he believes impact you? If it doesn't, it's none of your business what he watches or what he believes. He has earned the right to do as he pleases. -

This is the definition of bigot: a person who is obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance. Using that definition, no Jesus would not be a bigot. He showed love, caring and tolerance to everyone even those who sought to persecute him. Using the logic of some in this thread, yes, He would be. That's because if you don't agree with them, you're bigoted, narrow minded, intolerant and wrong in your beliefs. You are not entitled -

Most people who choose be bigots and use a "book of superstition" do so by twisting things to where it sounds OK to do what they are doing. They read into the Good Word what Grandpa Smith told them to believe. Or what Preacher Dave told them to believe. I am a Christian but there are probably 99.9999% of Christians who scare the crap out of me because of the way they rationalize what they do. -

I'm confused. How can you tell by looking at someone that they are gay or lesbian? Or that they are Democrats or Republicans? Or Baptists or atheists? Or liberal or conservative? Do they all wear signs? Or are some of you just able to "tell" by looking at someone which way their gate swings, how they vote or what they believe? I've said for many years, I am not a mind reader. Nice to know there are some people with that ability. I'm in awe of all of you who can do that. -

We were never happier than when our TV was broken. No negative news to watch, no celebrities to hear about, there was nothing bad going on in the world. We got to know the neighbors and ourselves, spent time working in the garden. So, it is what you make of it.
