  1. I met my husband at a T4T "event" over 12 years ago Something about those Dress Blues and charity did me in. One extra toy is so worth it when you know it will make a child's Christmas.
  2. Toys for Tots goes directly to those who have a need and request toys. I personally have watched children and families receive toys with eyes full of excitement and tears.
  3. CONGRATULATIONS!!!! Keep it up! I quit August 31st of 2008 (after 20 years), but recently I started again for no apparent reason. However, I have a 14 hour flight coming up next week so I'm going to use that as my chance to quit again. I absolutely HATE it and hide it from everyone so it shouldn't be too hard for me to stop again. Maybe I'll use you as my motivation too.
  4. All of the Publix stores take donations. I've been looking for a place where I can make a cash donation and be assured that they'll receive it. If anyone knows, I'd appreciate it.
  5. I use Dallas Highway Animal Hospital, across the street from Publix at Lost Mtn. I have used Dr. Toth for six years and LITERALLY hundreds of visits with my ailing English Bulldog. I cannot recommend him enough! The office is clean, they don't make you wait 2 hours in the lobby with 20 other pets, and they will work you in as soon as possible. I'll never go to another vet in the area! 5067 Dallas Hwy Powder Springs, GA 30127-4490 (770) 419-8086 http://www.dhah.org/dhah/mainpages/homepage.php
  6. Last time I did it was in a drive thru line, and this woman honked at me because I was messing with my phone and didn't move up fast enough. Everytime I looked back, she was scowling and just utterly cranky. So when I got to the window, I paid for her food. She obviously was having a bad day so hopefully it helped her out. My husband has people offer time and time again to buy him drinks when he's in uniform. He usually turns them down, although some are so insistent that he can't. I personally don't like the buy 'em a drink mentality. Alcoholism is a big issue in the military, and t
  7. I could never complain about USPS. I have sent two packages every other week to my husband in Afghanistan for the past two years. Only one was lost, and they all made it to his remote location in 10 days or less. I'm sure the retailers charging more are using methods OTHER than the USPS, which costs a lot more.
  8. Went to WalMart earlier today and noticed something was different. Thanksgiving morning at WalMart is full of handsome men. It was a pleasant surprise
  9. Why'd he go blabbing to the media? Uh huh, looking for some ill placed fame I suppose. By the way, I found my biological parents and I am a BETTER person for it. I am doubly blessed by having such a HUGE family to love me. But this story just goes to show you what you could find if you go looking.
  10. If it was a genetic defect, it would be irresponsible to continue breeding that line. I'm always surprised that they have lasted as long as they have. Bulldogs are inherently lazy dogs and suffer from heat stroke very easily. Glad my Bulldog has made it to 10 1/2 so far and that's OLD for his breed.
  11. Wow, 4 is young, but as an owner of a Bulldog, it doesn't surprise me. Looks like they need to start dipping into a different gene pool.
  12. Actually, that long post of information is contradictory anyway. It says if you have Crohn's, IBS, or any other intestinal disorder, NOT to ingest Aloe. Which makes sense. So the bottom half of the copy/paste doesn't make compute.
  13. I always figured with the close contact with blood, that the fighters would be routinely tested for blood borne illnesses. Ick, I certainly HOPE they would be.
  14. Thanks, I had wanted a vette ever since I was a little girl. I cried like a baby the day I drove it home LOL. I was up there in September and couldn't believe the size of the hospital now. It's practically bigger than the entire "village" of Winfield. I'm sure it wasn't half the size it was back in the 70's. Oh, and you weren't missing much moving from there. It's a cute little town, with NOTHING to do.
  15. Probably complications from steroid use by the looks of the guy. OK, that was mean, sorry. I never cared for him anyway and that fight between him and Couture was ridiculous (glad Randy won last night). It should have never happened. Even though I cannot stand him in the octagon, I wish him well.
  16. Bet we were born in the same hospital...Central Dupage.
  17. Here's the article and video http://www.sunjournal.com/node/437267/ I think it's stupid that they were punished. Guys do things like that. Heck, I know someone who was duct taped to a guard shack in Afghanistan LOL.
  18. I just watched the video on Youtube. Someone actually lost their job over that?
  19. I wouldn't stress it too much. Just make sure you get a good accountant that knows "military issues". You shouldn't have a problem in that area finding one. But don't make the mistake we did the first year and use the base's free tax service (was it VITA?). They were HORRIBLE!
  20. Yep, sounds right. Last year we had to pay to 4 different states, regardless of his HOR. I'm assuming your DH's HOR is GA so they should give a credit for taxes paid to another state.
  21. I know MANY! However, I'd venture to say that they are all way too humble to do something like that. It is a great idea and I hope that some will participate.
  22. I'm getting it, albeit a week or so later. I get to FINALLY have my husband home.
  23. I can tell you that the ankle weights in no way compare to the shoes. The shoes work specific muscles in the lower half of your body that the weights just don't. I've tried both.
  24. I don't know about the Reebok shoes, but I have a pair of "Fit Flops" which are the same concept in flip flop form. Combined with working out regularly, they do make a difference. On my off workout days, I wear them around the house and for the first few weeks of wearing them, I'd have slightly sore muscles the next morning (all in my legs, butt, and lower back) I wouldn't say they are a miracle worker, and you certainly will not get a butt like the girl in the commercial. I also wouldn't bother with them if money is tight. But I like mine, I can tell the slight difference it makes. I figur
