  1. There were four Marines killed on Thursday alone. Sad that it barely makes the news anymore. May they all be watched over and brought home safely. FYI as some might not know this... Marines are not "soldiers" and vice versa.
  2. <~~~ My dog, 10 years ago.
  3. I try to eat everything organic, EXCEPT FOR CHICKEN. I eat organic food not because I think it's nutritionally superior, but because I know what I'm eating. It doesn't contain trans fats, hydrogenated crap, or enriched flour. It's natural without the added junk. I don't eat organic chicken because I read an article years ago about the different types of chicken in Consumer Reports. Organic chicken had the highest rates of food borne illness. No thanks.
  4. I saw a girl today on Macland Rd and Mt Tabor that looked VERY much like her. In fact, she crossed Macland, and I stopped to let her go as I was worried she'd get hit. I also thought it odd because I've never seen anyone walking, or crossing there (where they are building that HUGE brick house on Macland right past Bobo) This was around 5pm. I hope it wasn't her and that you have already found your daughter by this time.
  5. I saw an identical car to this one parked in a handicap spot at Kroger today. Didn't see any handicap sticker/placard. Could just be coincidence, or maybe they forgot to put up their placard, or ...fill in the blank....
  6. The people just line up on the sidewalks smoking now. I had read that it was passed because a relative of someone on the city council was bothered by cigar smoking in the park. Must be nice to "know people".
  7. My 20 year old cat has traveled from IL to CA, CA to MA, and then MA to GA. I only sedated her once, and that was when she flew with me. I refused to sedate her after that. The poor thing was a drugged up mess. The trip from MA down here to GA was fine, even with our dog staring at her the entire way. She freaked at first, but grew very quiet after awhile and would nap, etc. I always kept her in a kennel until we got to a hotel room where as Just4Me said, she bolted under the bed. She eventually would creep out in the middle of the night to use her litter box. I was terrified of losing
  8. I have a 14 hour flight coming up, I wonder if United will have it.
  9. When I had jury duty, I noticed that half of the electrical outlets are upside down or placed way up near the ceiling. That's some quality work right there for ya.
  10. I saw this today and though of your post regarding your son in law. I know that the VA gets a bad rap for things, but they are a WEALTH of information and assistance if he is willing to try. http://communityofveterans.org/node/704
  11. My car doesn't use it a key, it's just the fob thing and a push button. It cost us over $200 to have it replaced at a local dealership. It's ridiculous.
  12. I know how to get to the Army/AF side, but that does me no good unless the Dobbins side carries USMC uniform items now. Heck, that's where I buy booze on Sundays WOOOHOOOO!!!!! Did they consolidate all the branches into one uniform shop on the Dobbins side? In typical military-fashion, I'll probably waste half a day driving up there, going to 10 different buildings, only to find that they are closed on Tuesdays anyway LOL.
  13. NNNNNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The HUMANITY!! Thankfully they still have them in a lot of airports.
  14. Does anyone know if they still have the "uniform shop" on the NAS Atlanta side (or whatever its called now) ?
  15. What did he do before he deployed and what is his MOS (job in the MC)?
  16. I drink "Sleepy Time" tea with Valerian by Celestial Seasonings. It doesn't taste like some of those horrific herbal teas. And no watching tv in bed!
  17. I've never found any medical reason, nor a medical cure for mine. I have had it last almost 48 hours straight. All I can do is hold on and pray. It's been a few years since I had a bout of it, and I'm hoping and praying that it's over for good. I wish you luck and hope you find an answer and cure for it. It's a debilitating condition for sure.
  18. It has nothing to do with the car. And yuck, the tan roof totally ruined that car for me.
  19. Soylent green is PEOPLE!!! Sorry, it completely reminded me of Soylent Green. I think it was a sweet way to go. Plus, I'd rather make the choice than saddle my family with the guilt of "pulling the plug".
  20. A painting of a civil war battle that has my grandmother's house in the background. My wedding rings. Nothing extravagant, but they are a constant reminder of the day I married my wonderful husband.
  21. That's not a roach, it's a "Palmetto Bug". Same thing as a roach, only with wings and bigger.
  22. People make judgments everyday. Oh well, so goes life. I like purses, I have quite a few and I rotate them out with whatever I'm wearing. Purses and shoes are my weakness. I don't care what brand it is as long as it is quality and doesn't have someone's logo splashed all over it. You can tell a quality purse from half a store away.
  23. I was confused by the recent story of the Army reservist drowning at an Army function at Lake Allatoona. Did anyone else see this on the news? It was sad, but I was completely confused as to how to no one even witnessed it, with a lifeguard present. And this might sound ignorant, but don't soldiers have to know how to swim? I know sailors and Marines do, so maybe that lead to my confusion as well.
  24. I was issued a ticket for an accident a year ago by City of Atlanta. It did not require a court appearance as long as I sent in their requested documentation. The ticket was $140 for "failure to yield while entering roadway". Oh, and they accepted my Nolo plea via mail. Edited to add: in Cobb, the original poster's speeding ticket would have been $196. And all you ever hear is people complain about Cobb County. Ha.
