As a MIDDLE NAME? She changed her name to Braddock when she remarried, but also changed her middle name to Rakestraw? That's just bizarre. Who do you know that has done that? A lot of divorced women keep their married last name because it is their LEGAL NAME, and changing it is a major pain in the butt once you have a financial life established. I had an old girlfriend whose mother called herself "Mrs. Doctor McMillan". Paulette's name gambit reminds me of that. Trading on the reputation of her husband. It's sad when you think about it.

Well said MRNN.

Poor Pubster. He sees a racist behind every pine tree. Rule Number 5. PS: Don't stand outside in a lightning storm. That last statement would qualify you for a big tingle.

No problem at all here. You might try turning off the computer and the router for about ten minutes and then turn the router on first and let it connect before turning your computer back on. If this doesn't help run a virus/malware scan.

But isn't that how Obamacare will work? Other departments with fee policies have exceptions which allow for a non subscriber to pay the full cost of the response plus a 10% penalty. That is substantially more than $75 but the poor guy's house is saved.

I just wanted to point out that the Boulder DA is questioning Jon Benet's brother. It is not unreasonable to believe that Burke was being protected by his parents who had just lost one child. The investigation was completely botched and a lot of evidence has not been adequately explained.

I'll bet you would have to be chained down first. I would do it if there weren't a couple of other important races on tap. We have to give two more votes to Will.

I know a few EPA lawyers that would argue convincingly against your position. I'm sure he's a nice guy to play a round of golf with, but I can guarantee you that his first responsibility is to what Roy Barnes wants to do first, what his supporters want him to do second, what the Democratic party wants him to do third, and whether or not he can legally do it runs a distant fourth at best. Often that last part was left up to his staff and Departmental Directors to clean up. I'm not telling stories out of school to remind people of the way he ran this state from a back room while supposedly cha

I'm going to say this real slowly for the umpteenth time and please don't anybody ask again. You may feel free to quote me on this: I think that Nathan Deal is marginally the lesser of two fairly big evils, and for that reason alone, I will be voting for him. No, he didn't hang the moon, save the earth from space invaders, invent a viable alternative to fiat currency, or present a well polished or even very acceptable image as a politician. But neither did Roy. It's not a matter of which candidate I like, it's about which candidate I detest the least. I wouldn't actively cam

Funny, me too. Oh, and by the way, I'm voting for Deal so I guess I cancel out poor ol' Feelip. Maybe if I bring up Roy's flagrant and illegal gerrymandering that was stopped by the high court and his losing court fight against Georgia's compliance with the federal Help America Vote Act, maybe we can get this one booted out too.

Question about ad on TV about more Trauma Hospitals
lotstodo replied to Mrs. Jack Russell's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Trauma Centers are huge money losers for hospitals. They absolutely bleed money. For this reason, they are often subsidized by the government through grants or other means even if they are attached to a for profit or a commercial non-profit hospital. It is not at all uncommon. A Trauma Center is just a highly specialized and sophisticated ER and support staff and equipment, not the whole hospital. They have to meet higher standards for facilities, staffing and equipment than do traditional Emergency Rooms. They are intended to treat severely injured or very sick patients in immediate d -
Question about ad on TV about more Trauma Hospitals
lotstodo replied to Mrs. Jack Russell's topic in RECENT TOPICS
The biggest caveat is the fact that they don't define exactly what they can use the money for. it won't go to the general fund to be reappropriated, but does putting new traffic lights within a mile of a trauma center and widening the roads meet the definition of "funding trauma care"? How about buying new computer systems, or instituting some kind of tracking system for certain diseases in Georgia? Will a huge chunk of it just go to Grady??? You can't know the answer to that question because the activity of "funding trauma care" is not defined in the proposed Constitutional Amendment. Kno -
There is a warning on the US Consular Office website for Jamacia. There are various telephone scams that originate with the 876 number, from bogus international phone charges to scams like those usually associated with Nigeria. The Consulate advises that you not answer the calls and that if you are the financial victim of a scam that you report it to your local police and the Kingston Police Department. I will say though that with all of the unrest and violent crime in Jamaica now, you probably won't get anywhere by reporting them even if you do lose money. Just don't answer the phone.

The 2010 Ig Nobel prizes have been given out and this year's winners are indeed special: ENGINEERING PRIZE: for perfecting a method to collect whale snot, using a remote-control helicopter. They would have been "asked politely" to remain at my residence until the sheriff arrived if I saw them tampering with my equipment. Did I mention that I would have been wearing a sidearm? Why wouldn't they at least knock on the door first and explain themselves, giving you an opportunity to speak with the owner?

Any commercially available enzyme type pet stain remover should work fine. Spray it on the tile and let it dry. Mop the next day and if you still smell urine reapply the enzyme cleaner and repeat.

Viper teams are the TSA Groups that take part in surveillance and enforcement operations away from fixed locations such as ports of entry. They are most often likened to SWAT teams for Terrorist interdiction, able to move to any location in the country with all the necessary equipment to intercept most hazardous devices. Viper is NOT the code name for an exercise. Yes, they did have radiation detectors along with full vehicle x-ray and conventional bomb detection equipment at the weigh station. It may or may not have been an "exercise" or a random show of force, but we certainly wou

We once quoted a huge retail remodel requiring some very significant structural modifications. The guy that got the job actually tried to work off of my presentation drawings (renderings and rough floor plans), which I still owned because we didn't get the job or any payment for the original design. The moron did no engineering study or or detail drawing and got the entire building condemned within 2 weeks of starting. The customer came back with hat in hand and not only paid double for the stolen design, but we got the detail and construction management contract too. I made twice as much a

I've heard that they are fairly effective in metro areas where the cops have the Lojack equipment installed in their patrol cars. Some of the GPS devices are pretty good also, but most need a constant source of power, cellular coverage, and an antenna with a clear view of the sky to operate. That makes the units hard to hide and easy to defeat. The company I used to lease equipment from had Lojack on everything they owned from compressors to big excavators. The best thing I've found for trailers is a good hitch lock and a big chain wrapped around the axle and through one wheel. We
