  6. CPSC Statement "The new law requires that domestic manufacturers and importers certify that children’s products made after February 10 meet all the new safety standards and the lead ban. Sellers of used children’s products, such as thrift stores and consignment stores, are not required to certify that those products meet the new lead limits, phthalates standard or new toy standards. The new safety law does not require resellers to test children’s products in inventory for compliance with the lead limit before they are sold. However, resellers cannot sell children’s products that exceed
  7. Your problem may be confusion with the name change from Pierce Rd. Look yourself up on Google Maps, and you will see what I mean. The database is wrong. You can submit an online form to Navteq and wait a couple of years, but they will eventually look into it. It took 2 1/2 years to get the name of our street corrected on the Navteq database, which is used in many gps units and for Google Maps and Yahoo Maps. They just sent me an e-mail a few months ago saying that I was correct (I knew that) and the information would be changed. They also said that it would be in the new release of t
  8. The builders took advantage of a situation in which they could do practically what they wanted. Can they be "blamed" for that? I don't know. But the previous BOC sure can. It is their responsibility to control and lead growth. And "They can't build what they weren't given???" There are literally thousands of residential lots already approved by the previous BOC waiting to be built on. This is their legacy, a glut of small residential lots already approved without any impact fees for what will most likely be lower quality residential development that we can do nothing about. This is wha
  9. If you will read further back than the current page, you will find my original post # 66 HERE stating facts that I don't believe have been disputed. NJTS seamed to take it as some kind of political statement, which it wasn't, and put words in my mouth that were not written or in my belief implied. I explained that in post #78 HERE and forgot to ad a smiley after the last sentence, which in retrospect was unfortunate, given that he was somehow personally involved in the conversation. I can not tell what is in another person's mind, but it would appear that NJTS was not reading the post proper
  10. Is English your native language? I am not saying that persons who live in sub $200k houses are not contributing to the property tax digest. I am saying that they are contributing half as much to the property tax digest as someone in a $400k house. They still require as much fire protection, police protection, public utilities, and public schooling. I also never said that there was anything wrong with that. We are all paying a larger percentage of our home value (millage rate) in taxes because the previous BOC permitted a disproportionate amount of lower cost homes, and fewer quality comme

  12. I heard that he only had the chopper for a couple of days. Sad.
  13. If you will read the post, I said that there was a disproportionate amount of sub $200k housing in Paulding. This throws off the tax digest. It's a fact not political statement. If all houses in Paulding were under $200k you would be paying maybe twice what you now do in taxes. You may not like the math, but it stands on its own. I thought that it was the American way, that the more fortunate pay more in taxes. edited for spelling.
  14. Had a conversation with an Assessor today who told me that commercial and mid range ($250k-$300k) residential is picking up here in Paulding. This is good news, since we have a glut of lower range (under $200k) housing on the market due to the subprime fiasco and the BOC's lack of foresight in approving a relatively large percentage of this type of housing. Remember that a $150k home requires the same services from the County and School System as a $300k home, and generates half the tax revenue. This along with the lack of quality industrial development in the county is why our taxes are so
