  1. They have no idea how a political economy works. ANY political economy. If they did they wouldn't use meaningless but nice sounding phrases like "economic justice". This is not about an end to crony capitalism, because if it was they would be picketing the government instead of the banks. It is the government that designed the system and carefully crafted it over the years to exist on quid pro quo. This is about anti-capitalism. Those of you who claim that these videos and network TV interviews find only the dumbest human examples , are quite welcome to research and find even one exam
  2. The government and their redistributionists of all stripes must understand that to pick a winner, they must create a loser.
  3. So glad that everyone is going to be OK. You and the little one must have been scared to death.
  4. The information is confidential under the law (16-13-60). It is also subject to HIPPA confidentiality requirements. It's a bit of a hassle to have to show ID and all, but it is one tool to slow down the Meth Heads. I'm sure that they will eventually find some way around it. Addicts are, if nothing else, resourceful. BTW, they card you for spray paint now.
  5. Cartersville is the closest place I know of. Enterprise Oil 651 Joe Frank Harris Parkway Southeast Cartersville, Ga 30120-3957 (770) 387-9724 The place looks like a tanker depot, but they sell retail also. GPS Cord: N34.16920 W84.78812
  6. A good education is always the second step in realizing your goals. The first step is to set those goals. That's where many people fail in their pursuit of the "American Dream". It is the equality of "OPPORTUNITY" that allows you to go whatever your creativity, perseverance, gained knowledge, planning, and wisdom can take you. We all have that dream, some just expect it to come to them without effort. I have news for you. It won't, and that begets the evil cousin of greed, which is envy.
  7. You mean intervention in the price of grain like ethanol subsidies right?
  8. I believe that it was Kenny Brack (not sure) who said after his horrendous crash at Texas that "Any time you have to wear a fire suit and a helmet, it's probably dangerous." That doesn't make it any easier when someone dies though.
  9. What right does the government have to tell BOA what it charges Walmart for a debt card transaction? Show me that in the constitution. That was a private contract. If there was price fixing, which was NEVER stated, then they would have gone after them for price fixing because, you seee, that sort of conspiracy is illegal. No. They just made up some bull spit tale about mom and pop stores and put a gun to the head of Wells Fargo and your nice friendly credit union and paid Target for the generous campaign contribution. If you would step back from the smoke and mirrors, you would see that t
  10. Who is going to make up that $2.25 million in lost revenue? The hotel down the street? The homeowner whose property taxes go up? Once again a well connected developer makes a sweetheart deal with the government and the taxpayers are supposed to foot the bill. The Government has no business picking winners and losers. I would further be willing to bet that there is a long string of campaign contributions leading up to this. Against "Free Enterprise" my arse. Against Crony Capitalism is more like it. If the building is suitable for a hotel development, someone will develop it into a hotel.
  11. i have never seen a race called and then turned into a tribute. That was probably the worst wreck I have ever seen. Head first into the catch fence.
  12. Dis, for some folks that's like trying to tell an alcoholic to quit drinking. It won't happen until they are ready to help themselves. My take on it is that many people are genetically predisposed to obesity. That doesn't mean that they have to be obese. That means that they should be aware of the fact that Krispy Kremes are like sweet little Budweisers. They need to be especially careful not to follow in the family tradition. Life ain't fair, and they can't eat like some 14 year old with a supersonic metabolism can. But just like not all drunks are alcoholics, not all obese people ha
  13. Fortunately I've known my GP for years. We've become pretty good friends. When he retires, and he is contemplating doing so when Obamacare passes, I guess I'll take my half dozen folders with me to some fast food operation someplace else. I guess I'll have to keep better track myself when that happens. There is a lot to be said for having the same guy for over 20 years. Maybe I'll just have to take him fishin' more often when he retires.
  14. Try explaining to your health insurer that you are part of an experimental drug study and watch their eyes glaze over. Then tell them that also means that you get free extensive lab tests for the next two years and they will okie dokie that sucka post haste. I know every childhood disease I had and every major diagnosis and treatment since I was 16. I know all surgeries, the outcomes, and their approximate dates. I know all maintenance drugs I am on, what labs and diagnostic tests have been run, and the most recent results. Yes, much of that is written down, but I have never obtained m
  15. What is lost in this discussion is that a child has reportedly been abused by a person she new. It's so much more fun to flame the abusers employer than to deal with that fact. I'm sure that her family appreciates your consideration.
  16. Publicity stunt. These whackos need to have the walls of their "church" padded.
  17. It's hard to choose, so here are a few: "As of right now, they are on Double Secret Probation"..... "Do you mind if we dance with your dates?"....... "Greg honey, is it supposed to be this soft?".... FOOD FIGHT!... Professor: Teaching is just a way to pay the bills until I finish my novel. Boon: How long you been working on it? Professor: Four and a half years. Pinto: It must be very good. Professor: It's a piece of sh**. Would anyone like to smoke some pot?
  18. Steve Jobs was a brilliant man. What has been lost is the fact that like ALL entrepreneurs, he has far more failures under his belt than he has successes, and he was smart enough to learn from those failures in order to make the successes spectacular. He was fired from his company for reason. He had lost sight of what his position should be and he tried to micromanage the daily operations. That was one of his failures from which he and Apple emerged triumphantly. he is a success because he never quit. May he rest in peace. As for "stealing" from other people, should the inventor o
  19. I think this might be it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DWxOx2eSqdo I love this comment: How did he manage to pull the weight of his giant balls up there?
  20. I think that the dredging project also includes a new turning basin and widening of the channel. I would imagine that it could still only handle one "New Panamax" at a time even then. I'm not sure but I think that even though the new lock lengths are 1400 feet, the new ship length will be limited to 1200 feet and 160 feet wide. That's still a big bubba. That's bigger than a Nimitz Class Aircraft Carrier at the waterline.
  21. I would NEVER buy property without a survey. The $300 is cheap insurance against the possibility that you and perhaps even the previous owner have been misled. You will not only find the real boundaries of your property, but you will see Right of Way and Easement information that can control the use of your property.

    ...

it is not good economic policy, but from a humanitarian standpoint, how can you not extend them until we see a flicker of hope. They should be paid for by the immediate end to ethanol, green energy, and oil company subsidies.
  23. Just tell Guard Dad that he gets to wear his thong in public and he'll probably organize the whole thing.
  24. Yup it's a very big deal. The main holdup was thought to be funding until this latest blind side by SC. Like IC and SP said, Savannah is better situated for the land distribution of cargo than any port south of the Delaware river. Actually the "New Panamax" vessels can have a draft up to 49.9 feet, not 41 ft. Last November, the COE determined that the river could safely be dredged to 48 feet all the way to the proposed new container facility. That would be enough to make Savannah a New Panamax Port.
  25. The idiocy of this is that South Carolina benefits tremendously from the Port of Savannah. The greed is that if they can block Savannah, they might be able to dredge the slightly smaller port of Charleston first and get 100% of the revenue. The potential outcome is that neither state will get anything before shippers establish expensive operational expansions elsewhere, and the container ports between Jacksonville and the Delaware River will cease to exist as trade based commercial ports. The EPA has ruled once on this, clearing the way for dredging, but procedurally they must review SC's
