Crap. You CAN'T DECORATE??? What kind of a stereotype are you??? I'm an INDUSTRIAL designer and everybody wants me to pick out lamp shades. I was going to toss you some side work. Oh well.

The way they have gotten into this in the past is to arrest some idiot kid on another charge who still has the text/tweet on his phone. They then trace the text back, hopefully to the original source, and start arresting the senders for inciting and the folks with the loot. If the sender used a burner phone, this is not an easy task unless the kid rolls on his buddies, and they often do. I believe that they arrested a "rapper" for disrupting emergency communications in an incident where he told his "followers" to call the pd at a certain time, bringing down the system, but they later drop

Well then when and if it is confirmed that Moody's is subject to the same type of probe, why don't you post a topic for us hmm?

Show of hands.....Who here was surprised by the S&P Downgrade? Obama wasn't either. Just because the investigation started before the deed was completely done doesn't mean that it wasn't politically motivated. One has to ask why Moody's, a friend of Obama's, wasn't included in this witch hunt. They rated as many if not more securities in the exact same manner as S&P.

If using purse strings to illicit certain "voluntary" behavior in the poor and elderly is socialism, as was stated here, what is the Federal Government taking money from the states and returning it with onerous strings attached called?

I'm still waiting for an analysis by other reputable economists (if there is such a thing), but if the chance of a double dip was 1 in 3 before this, it has to be worse now. It was also announced today that the New York FED has been meeting with the US affiliates of foreign banks to gauge their vulnerability to another financial crisis in Europe. They are concerned that these banks may not be able to meet their obligations here in the US should the Euro collapse. NY FED Chief William Dudley is still a cheerleader though, saying that he still believes that the risk of a double dip is r

Breaking economic news: The Philly FED index, an index of factory activity in the northeast, has fallen to minus 30.7 for August, it's lowest level since early 2009, and is in deep negative territory which indicates a strong slowing of manufacturing activity in the region. The July number was positive 3.2. This index is closely watched by economists and traders, and it follows 3 straight months of negative numbers in the similar Empire State index. In August, all of the details were also weak. The new orders index plunged to negative 26.8 from 0.1. The unfilled orders index worsene

Mark, I can't imagine anyone disliking you for what you post here, and I'm glad you are content in your life. We should all be so lucky.

Are you really that ignorant or just partisan? Look up the term "stagflation". Sorry, I forgot that NPR doesn't have a dictionary, so I'll do it for you: stag·fla·tion/ˌstagˈflāSHən/ Noun: Persistent high inflation combined with high unemployment and stagnant demand in a country's economy. Misery Index: Noun: The unemployment index combined with the inflation rate. There is probably a good reason why they don't call it the "Happy Index". Now for Thursday's tidbits: New jobless claims up to 408,000; CPI up 0.5%; Core CPI up 0.2%; Existing home sales down to 4.67 Million

It's called waiting for the next shoe to drop. When you cannot predict energy, tax, healthcare, or compliance costs, you cannot make commitments. Holding cash is a defensive position that makes no profit for a company. Y'all do know that profit is the goal of a corporation, right? You do know that corporations must provide a service or product to make that profit right? Hoarding is not an end.

The Tunnels are being studied as a new modern transportation project expected to produce thousands of jobs. This was just a recon mission full of government types. I'm sure that Chairman Austin will fill us in on all of the exciting news.

The Northwest Passage Has Long Been Saught

Strangely enough, there is evidence that it was continually open for long periods during the MWP prior to 1100. Perhaps for centuries. By the way, the MWP cannot be explained by carbon. -
How tragic.

You are one of the most financially savvy people here on P-com. You can make folks understand that it is that simple to take control of their fiscal future.

Your Economic Calendar report for Wednesday: PPI climbed 0.2% last month. Of greater concern, core PPI rose 0.4%, four times the expected rate. This is of course a sign of more pent up wholesale inflation that must eventually be passed on to consumers once a true recovery begins. The past 12 months have shown that stagflation is indeed becoming a factor. Crude prices have risen 22.6% while intermediate prices have gained 11.6%, and the producer prices of finished goods have gained 7.2% in the last year. Non-fuel import prices have risen 5.5% in the last year. Those are far above n

Dis, I just think it is prudent for employers, government or not, to verify the legal status of all employees and dependents as a fraud prevention procedure. People try to claim all sorts of relatives and friends as dependents to get them health insurance. I'm not sure what a tax form does though, because if you would lie to your employer you sure as heck are going to claim the miscreants in question on your taxes. Am I right?

Yeah, three of the four are pretty large, and the fourth is a petro chemical plant. It appears that at least two will be for longer than a week or two, although they haven't given a definitive start-up date for any of them. There is some excess capacity at a few other plants, but it is questionable whether or not they can ramp up production quickly enough to make any difference. Still, it is not going to cause a "critical" shortage according to the Petroleum Institute or the EIA. It may mean a stop to the decrease or a temporary increase in prices in the short term up to maybe two months or

Today's nuggets: Housing starts slip 1.5% in July; Single-family starts slipped 4.9% last month to 425,000 from a downwardly revised 447,000; July import prices rose .3% as we import Chinese inflation; Now some marginally good news, Industrial production and capacity utilization for July were up very slightly, well within the margin of error, but at least they weren't down.

Get the government out of the marriage business. Everyone should be able to sign a partnership contract that is enforceable through the courts exactly like any other contract. Let any two individuals sign the paper work and move on. This would end any preferential treatment for any group over another, and end the idiotic archaic system of Government blessing of a union. Marriage has spiritual implications far beyond a normal contract that are no business of the government's.

I understand that there are some US refinery problems now. Valero, Motiva, Alon, and Conoco have reported problems that require unplanned shutdown of their plants.

That's certainly a catch 22.

Just Today: Empire index unexpectidly down 7.7; International Capital flows $3.7 Billion down from 24.2 Billion; Homebuilder Index remains at 15, with 50 being considered the lowest positive number; Lowes cuts outlook; As for last week. consumer sentiment was at it's lowest point since 1980; Small Business Sentiment was at it's lowest level in a year; Pay outstripped productivity, sending the productivity numbers down due to wage inflation. I'll be sure to keep you up to date on all of this "good" news. Coming later this week we have industrial production, capacity utilization,
