  1. Good point. In a zero infrastructure situation we could probably survive here for weeks only.
  2. Unfortunately, the "loophole" in the law may just be the Constitution itself.
  3. We pay for it. It was scheduled by the Secretary of State, not the political parties. It happens every 4 years. The deal with states trying to be first is a ploy to frame the debate to suit their state electorate. It is a fairly effective power grab.
  4. I'm sure you're right. This was actually adjudicated in a suit brought by Al Awalaki's father. It was dismissed on the grounds that the father had no standing, which is an unfortunate truth that makes getting a similar case to SCOTUS a bit of a catch 22. The judge did say that he was very disturbed by the fact that the President can target an American Citizen for assassination and that the case was technically unreviewable by the court. I couldn't agree more.
  5. Please point to the section of the constitution or the law that allows the government to "revoke" one's citizenship. You can't, because there is no such thing. If there were, it would still require Habeus. I know what I wrote, so I'm not sure why you feel the need to repeat it unless you are having a comprehension problem. I said that it is one interpretation the law that this yahoo can be shot, but that there are varying interpretations of the law and the question has yet to be brought before the SCOTUS. I further said that it bothers me that Habeus has been effectively suspended by t
  6. An American citizen does not give up their constitutional rights by committing a crime, no matter how horrendous a crime it is.
  7. There are varying interpretations of the Military Commissions Act of 2006 and it's 2009 amendment. The broadest interpretation, that used by the military and so far not deemed unconstitutional, defines an "unlawful enemy combatant" as any person who is engaged in hostilities or who has purposefully and materially supported hostilities against the United States. It does not exclude US Citizens from the provision in article 948a. I don't necessarily agree with this provision of the law, but IT IS THE LAW, and until it is struck down or repealed, it appears that these sorts of activities are
  8. That's excellent news. We have friends who live two houses down from the meth lab that blew up killing three illegal immigrant's children in Lilburn last year. Their children played with the children who died. I can't help but think that had the system done a better job, those three children would still be alive and the neighborhood might not have been exposed to such danger.
  9. I'm sure that it had nothing to do with his being a radicalized Muslim. He was certainly wronged by the American government and we should apologize immediately for however we offended him.
  10. Graves has a solid record that Shearin will find hard to beat.
  11. Actually we are judged everyday by people who don't know us from Adam's house cat. Many folks don't need an actual reason to hate, it's just in their nature.
  12. You might try SW Engines. They are a volume purchaser of used Ford Engines, and might have what you need. Their number is 888-344-8044.
  13. We dropped cable last year. We bought this antenna and this amplifier and have the antenna on a mast about 30 feet above the ground. We live in the south part of the county which has probably the poorest reception due to Sweetwater Ridge. I have a friend in New Hope than has the same set up and he gets even the weaker channels quite well. You can go to Antennaweb.org, enter your address, and see what stations you can reasonably get with different set-up. All of Paulding is "Purple" requiring a high quality outdoor antenna and usually an amp for best reception.
  14. Red Top Mountain is nice. There is also a nice one on the Coosa River west of Rome at Lock and Dam Park. If you are willing to go 2 hours, Cloudland Canyon State Park can't be beat.
  15. Um, the poster is a body shop and means the car itself, not the perp.
  16. Thank you, and if that investigation results in probable cause to arrest the subject, then that subject is lawfully arrested. It's like the old "tag light out" ploy used by LE everywhere. That offense, or any minor traffic offense for that matter, gives the LEO reasonable suspicion to stop you and either ticket or remind you to repair the light. He may check your license and registration in the course of his investigation. He may peer into the vehicle to see if there is anything suspicious about you, your passengers, or the contents of the vehicle. He then may remove you and/or your pa
  17. I was really surprised by the quantity and quality of aircraft there for a single 5700 ft runway so far from Atlanta.
  18. JM, isn't Phoenix Air still there? They have, or had a whole bunch of Gulfstreams parked on the tarmack with about zero security. If I remember, they also have or had an old c-47 or a DC3 parked there too. I haven't driven by in a while. Those are large enough aircraft to carry a lot of fertilizer with full fuel tanks a very short distance to Bowen, huh? There is a reason why it is called "probable" cause and not "certain" cause. A guy taking pictures of his wife and kids after they land is not suspicious. A guy taking pictures of large parked aircraft and access points is. I assume t
  19. Sometimes people do have a good reason for parking in the front yard, and sometimes people don't have a good reason for parking in their front yard beyond the fact that's where they could push the busted up POS to. I'm just sayin'..... There is a valid reason for quality of life ordinances. Not everyone takes their neighbor into consideration, whether it be partying at all hours, starting an auto "repair" operation, allowing their '82 Buick to rust unmolested by lawnmowers, or littering their front yard with pure junk because that's where it fell. It's a shame that some people have to b
  20. That's why we live back in the woods. If the neighbors want to start an "antique car collection", I don't have to look at it. Of course, if I want to water the garden in my tidy whities, they don't have to see that either. Come to think of it, they probably win that round.
  21. There is a reason why many choose to spend nearly their entire working career at a Waffle House. Everything I have ever known of them is good.
  22. It really doesn't matter who wins. If the government "wins" they simply succeed in forcing Bernanke to permanently monetize debt. In other words, they will win printed money that Bernanke will, if not replace with more printed money, at least not be able to sop up when the economy actually begins to improve. That will just place more inflation pressure on an already devalued dollar. This is one of the most wrongheaded moves yet. Even assuming for a moment that the banks are all run by Ebinezer Scrooge and John Gotti, the real loser, as usual, will be you and I.
  23. This is as stupid as it sounds. The Lacy Act, one of the most wrongheaded environmental laws on record, gives the US Government the right to enforce the endangered species laws of foreign countries (I know, right?). The problem is that other countries, like our own, politicize their environmental acts. India and Madagascar have environmental laws that say that certain species of wood that are exported in their raw form are possibly illegal (there are legal sustainable sources though). That same foreign law says, now stick with me here, that that very same tree that is finished by local lab
  24. Of course everything could change tomorrow, but last word was that we will get some of it Monday through Wednesday. Glen Burns said maybe 5".
