  1. What the hell do you think I've been talking about for the last two years?
  2. I'm pretty sure that Home Depot does have cameras. If you have the exact date and time, they may be able to help you, but be quick, as many companies only keep surveillance footage for a short time.
  3. Oh come on Blue. There are a lot of industries with bad hours. I have literally worked WEEKS straight with only 4-5 hours off per day and I'm nothing special. It has happened in every job I've had since High School. People everywhere have deadlines that they have to meet, and sometimes that means overtime. Sometimes that means a lot of overtime, so I'm not boo hooing for these folks who have to work one near all-nighter and overtime for the next three weeks. When I worked in the trade show industry, I AVERAGED 72 hour weeks one year and 66 the next. Some weeks were well over 100 hours. Th
  4. Congratulations! Start training that 18 year old in babysitting right now.
  5. Maybe you're doing it wrong.
  6. I'm sorry. It's a nice statement and one with which I agree wholeheartedly. But lets face it, it isn't a classic work of modern oration. It could have been scribbled down on the back of a cocktail napkin on the plane. It's hardly a work that distinguishes him from any other politician as either a wordsmith, a patriot, or a thinker.
  7. It's assumed for a good while that if Deutsche Telekom , parent of carrier T-Mobile, was unable to merge their comparatively unprofitable US operation with a first tier provider that they would close their doors here in the US. All of y'all who think that a merger with AT&T would be a job killer should consider that the most likely alternative to a merger with AT&T, Verizon, or Sprint would be for T-Mobile to simply go back across the pond. How's that for a jobs killer? As for AT&T using the T-Mobile deal to hurt Sprint, Sprint got first shot and was interested in perhaps acq
  8. No way, I loath crowds. I'm a Cyber Monday kind of guy. Before the Internet, I was a Christmas Eve kind of guy. Mrs. LTD thanks Algore for his little invention every Christmas, although it was kinda fun shopping on Christmas eve with all of the other husbands. Yes sir, it was gift cards, cheap perfume, gag gifts, and smoked meat for all. Now those were the days.
  9. I just wanted to wish everyone a happy Thanksgiving. I know that I am truly thankful for the many blessings I have received over the years, and I am thankful that I have gotten through the many down times. For those of you who have had a good year I celebrate your joys, and for those of you who have known pain or tragedy this year, I pray you will see a better fortune in the future and that you have those who love and support you to pull you through. These are trying times we live in, and I know that a lot of folks are hurting. This has been a pretty good year for our family. Through a
  10. I've felt fortunate to have every job I've held, especially on payday, and I've built seawalls in snake infested canals in central Florida in the summer. I've pumped gas and checked oil at an 8 pump discount service station from 3 PM until 1 AM six days a week, completely by myself, while attending school from 7AM to 2 PM. I've also been smart enough to not burn a bridge because you never know how things will turn out. Suck it up, do your job, smile at the customers, and look for another job if you don't like the one you've got. It's not the worst job in the world, and nobody owes you a p
  11. I don't find Target to be the "antithesis" of Chick-fil-a. They are different companies, independently owned and operated. They are free to operate their companies as they see fit, and employees are free to choose the company that they want to work for. Some companies pay more than others, some companies have better benefits than others, and some companies have better hours than others. I have worked hell hours, as has probably everyone here. That doesn't mean that we didn't appreciate our jobs or enjoy doing what we do. If they don't like it, they can go work for whomever they please.
  12. From the Georgia Department of Labor: Neither the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) nor Georgia law require breaks or meal periods be given to workers. However, many employers do provide breaks and meal periods. Breaks of short duration (from 5 to 20 minutes) are common. The FLSA requires workers be paid for short break periods; however an employer does not have to compensate for meal periods of thirty minutes or more, as long as the workers are free to use the meal period time as they wish and are not required to perform work during that time.
  13. 75 million people are NASCAR Fans. That's one in three adults in the US. They are 39.4% White collar and 30.1% Blue collar. 17% make over $100k per year, that's slightly higher than the national figure of 15%. Of Nascar followers in a Media Audit Research poll, 30.08% identified themselves as Republicans and 29.83% as Democrats. Nationally, 34.3% consider themselves Republican and 33.1% are Democrats. Given NASCAR Demographics, they are pretty much a microcosm of the US population economically and politically. So what you are saying is that it is not surprising that a porti
  14. There is at least one aspect of most every job that just sucks. Most of us have pulled multiple all-nighters for one reason or another. These crybabies need to put on their big girl panties, quit their bitchin', and and go to work like everyone else.
  15. I'm just sayin'...... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5aiwxSfdH0 GO JACKETS!!
  16. Enter your address on AntennaWeb.org to see what channels you can reasonably expect to receive with what kind of antenna. Here in South Paulding we needed an 8 bay amplified outdoor antenna mounted on a 20 foot mast to receive the majority of channels. Sweetwater Ridge really messes us up. But free HD is awesome.
  17. ES, it's constitutional. Get over it. Every time a cop encounters a citizen he "has the opportunity to go beyond what is allowed by law." He could conceivably shoot you in the face for spitting on a sidewalk. We trust, however that his individual sense of public service and humanity the very severe penalties for doing so will prevent such acts. We not only trust police to do the right thing when encountering the public, we kick their ass when they don't. We're a nation of laws enforced by the court system. I do, in fact know that most states follow these procedures and that all st
  18. Saturday November 26 is Small Business Saturday. If everyone will just shop at one small local business on that day, and maybe buy something small like a paperback or a box of candy, we can help support our local economy.
  19. While the rightfulness of sobriety checkpoints can be debated, the Constitutionality of such has indeed been settled. In Michigan Dept. of State Police v. Sitz, the Supreme Court found by a 6 to 3 margin that while such checkpoints were an inconvenience and an impediment to mobility, they were Constitutional as long as the rules of evidence and equality were maintained. The State of California developed an approved procedure that most states that use these checkpoints abide by. Even though such checkpoints are Constitutional, ten states have outlawed them as being too intrusive. Pers
  20. They often announce these types of operations, particularly around the holidays. The goal is to make you think about drinking and driving and to not do so. The goal isn't to catch you doing it as much as it is to prevent you from doing it. It's better to have someone give the keys to his sober buddy to drive home than it is to allow him to drive drunk to a checkpoint. As for catching them, if they are stupid enough to drive drunk and risk their life and that of others, then by all means, have fun in that cell. Perhaps you won't do it again.
  21. I'm glad to see the posting. It's really not amazing what a little education and hard work will get you, and these folks are an example of that. We need highly technical jobs and qualified people to fill them right here in Paulding. Some people will bitch because the sun came up.
  22. Very sad. He was caught with Meth and over $100,000 in stolen equipment. The door was open to him to go to Rehab and serve a probationary period if he wanted to return to Nascar, he never did, and I doubt that any sponsor or team would have touched him anyway. This pretty much slams the door on his driving career everywhere, and will probably mean some jail time.
