HB1: Haleigh's Hope, the medical marijuana bill passed
ohmygosh replied to Lady Raider's topic in RECENT TOPICS
Thank God for its passage; if you think not, read about families who have had to relocate to Colorado in order to have children's seizures reduced from HUNDREDS a day to only a few. This is medical marijuana, and I personally don't care who abuses it, if it helps the many patients with debilitating illnesses. It is easily available everywhere, now anyway....(smokeable). -
I bought a cotton scarf I liked, then picked out materials for a friend to make me a few more in the colors I wear. I had a longer wrap around tie and made a sassy bow on the side. I also bought a soft, knit hat to wear around the house and to sleep in. I hated the feel of a wig, so didn't get one. The drs, nurses, staff at the offices are the kindest ones I've ever known. They choose to work in oncology, so their heart is there with you. My best to you and your dear mom.

in the Cobb school, where I taught, custodians did light work during the day, the floor/bathroom cleaning crew came in the evenings, about 4:00; no English, staring at women, laughing while looking at us, etc. very uncomfortable situation, but nothing we could do about it.

Question for parents/grandparents of school age kids
ohmygosh replied to tbird's topic in RECENT TOPICS
oK, MIDDLE SCHOOL changes the game; I know MS parents probably aren't as vigilant as elem. parents/teachers are and just don't pay as much attention. My daughter has 7 kids in and out of her house and I know she doesn't notice jackets, etc. -
I pass it frequently and see cars, vans, trucks there most of the time.

NO one is understanding that some children need an actual book TO HOLD, pictures to use too at home, at their own speed, in order to reinforce what the teacher presented. This is called studying. Middle schooler I am with each afternoon has no homework, only her notes to look over and when I ask more in depth questions, she says, "the teacher didn't say anything about that." Teachers are great mentioners, and swear they TAUGHT the topic. She doesn't have a book to fill in the gaps in her notes. Also, there are still families who don't have internet, smart phones, tablets. Look at the num

I picked up an iron skillet, which had just come out of the oven, without a potholder. A friend quickly peeled a potato and had me hold it. No burn, no blister, no pain after a few minutes. Amazing.

Advice on purchase of a new washer and dryer
ohmygosh replied to marvinthemartian's topic in RECENT TOPICS
trashed our 2 yr old HE washer; hated it; didn't clean clothes, didn't rinse them, had automatic lock I couldn't open during the cycles; awful. We went back to washer with low agitator; TOP loader so my back and neck won't ache. -

I am one of those; didn't teach him, but he was well-known. He was very active, always smiling, always busy and into something in the halls. So very sad.
