Actually, one of the local stations did a special report on hand sanitizers and found out that some of them are good and some of them are useless. The ultimate result is that hand sanitizer does not work as well as soap and water. And, don't forget to wash your hands for at least 30 seconds to make sure they are good and clean (sing your ABCs or Happy Birthday while you're washing to know that you've washed long enough). I'll see if I can find a link to the story.....

I'm not panicking, but I am concerned about the swine flu string because I think we are going to see a larger than normal flu outbreak this fall/winter. And, add to that, I work with people who refuse to stay home when they're sick, I think being prepared and cautious is best.

Our firm uses a typing program that takes you through typing paragraphs, number sequences, etc. It also tests you on spelling and punctuation. I think you have to go and be prepared for anything. Just practice and then don't sweat it. Most companies would rather have an accurate typist who makes it just under their minimum than a typist who makes a ton of mistakes.

Or if you have a really small crockpot - it heats up really well in those.

I saw the signs as I was driving by this weekend. That's great news! Good daycare providers are hard to find so I wish them nothing but the best!!!

I have a horrible issue with needles (always have). BUT, in this situation, just weigh the pros and cons -- if you saved someone's life, wouldn't it be worth the discomfort or inconvenience? I say try it again, but this time, before you give blood, talk to the technician taking blood and let them know your concerns. Also, make sure you drink plenty of water before you donate (starting the day before), eat a healthy meal with iron-rich foods the day before (so your iron levels are okay, if they're too low, they won't let you donate), and then drink juice while you are giving blood and stay o

But could't those complaints be handled via PM with Pubby? If someone posts that they are looking for a recommendation, you can send them a PM. If Pubby gets complaints that are sufficient enough to show that the CM is unethical, then he can remove them. Pubby is still making the ultimate decision, but instead of 100 opinions, he can handle it privately.

Yes, but how much are you willing to pay as a non-commerce member for him to get in the middle of a dispute? Look at the post about CVS that I posted. I didn't post it as a vent, I posted it as a concern as a way to encourage others to keep an eye on their prescriptions if they used the same pharmacy. I didn't turn it into a personal attack against the business - I tried to just list the facts. If you read through that post now, someone else is so upset (and it "appears" rightly so) that she's threatening to bring in the news media. IF CVS were a commerce member, wouldn't Pubby have

Look at some pics of Victoria Beckham with her hair short in the back and long in the front - I think that would be cute.

Yes, but you're now asking Pubby to become a mediator and pulling him into the middle of a consumer dispute. P.com is a business - without Commerce Members, Pubby would be out of business. Why should he bite the hand that feeds him?

The problem I see with this idea is that not only will you get both sides of the story, but you will have 100 other people posts their opinions and then the issue gets clouded and sometimes gets really blown out of proportion. My thought is to just have the posts all under one topic - when you are looking for a recommendation for a service, post that you are looking for a recommendation and ask that negative comments be sent via PM. That way, you care share your good or bad experiences and keep the drama off of the board.
-
Actually, any time I've asked for a local recommendation, I've had people send me a PM with places not to use. And, most p.commers will gladly post those famous words "PM sent" when that happens so you can easily see in the post that something is up. I personally prefer to keep it that way just to keep some of the drama down. ETA: I'm not a Commerce Member.

Actually, they just screwed up in my case (4 times). I have the same name as the same person, but our first names are spelled differently (Lisa and Leisa) and we have different birthdays (she's older). It's pretty obvious that the technicians are only asking for the names and aren't checking birthdates or spellings and the pharmacist isn't double checking behind them.

You're welcome. I'm not angry about it, I just believe that this pharmacy isn't being very careful. The pharmacist has been very helpful (as far as I can tell) and I can and will continue to monitor prescription activity through my insurance company. If it isn't corrected in the near future, I'll go further up the chain at both CVS and with my insurance company (and will probably move to the fraud department). Unfortunately, if they hadn't called to ask me about a refill, I most likely never would have discovered this.

I've notified my insurance company and have talked to the pharmacist several times. The pharmacy is going to have the prescription charges removed from my insurance and remove them from my records. Unfortunately, the insurance company said that from their end, there isn't a lot they can do to monitor it because they have no way of knowing if the prescription is actually mine and they can't cut off benefits to that pharmacy since this isn't considered insurance fraud (since it really does appear to just be a mistake). But they did indicate that the pharmacy should be comparing dates of birth

I got a courtesy phone call from the 24 Hour Pharmacy across from Briar Patch this weekend asking me if I wanted to go ahead and refill my prescription. I told her that I didn't have any prescriptions with them and I haven't had one filled there in about a year. The person said okay, thanks. After hanging up, I realized that if they were calling me, then this was on my file and most likely was billed to my insurance company, so I called the pharmacist back. Sure enough, it was. She said there were two people with my name in the system so she would back it out of my name and move it

I heard on the radio this morning that a study of the self confidence of girls was done (I'm basing this on my memory so bear with me). In elementary school, 95% of the girls were happy with their appearance. In middle school, it dropped to about 50% of the girl's were happy with their appearance (or something close to that number). In high school, only 5% of girl's were happy with their appearance. Also, it noted that girls who were involved in a sport of some sort, had a much higher self-confidence level than those that weren't. Just some food for thought....

Call the tax office and talk to them. DH talked to someone about how our boat suddenly increased in value by more than $10,000 last year. They were very helpful and we've finally gotten it back to reality....

I have mixed emotions about this one -- I don't mind if the kids in our cul-de-sac play in our yard. I would much rather see them there than playing in the road. As for leaving toys or bikes in the yard, as long as I know who they belong to and they are picked up the next day, it wouldn't bother me. However, if I didn't know the kids, that would be a different story...

We have 2 Pro Selections pressure cooker - a 10 qt and a 6 qt. I love them and use them a lot. We bought them at a home show several years ago. You can use them as a pressure cooker or a pressure fryer. The best part is that you don't have to worry about it exploding on you - when your food is done, you pull the pressure valve off, release the pressure, then you screw open the top with no worries. I can cook a huge, fork tender pot roast (w/potatoes and carrots and gravy) in about 45 minutes. They were pricey, but definitely worth the money.
