  1. I disagree - if you are looking for a job, look everywhere! As for Chattanooga being closer than Atlanta because of traffic - it's 32 miles from my house to my office in midtown. My average commute time is 45 minutes. Traffic can suck in ATL, but Chattanooga is about 75 miles away - you're guaranteed a commute of about 75-90 minutes each way, every day.
  2. Commerce member or not, I want details!!! Where, when, what types of cakes, etc. Spill it - we need a good bakery and I'll definitely give you a try!
  3. You missed it - it was moved to Labor Day Weekend. Better luck next year!!
  4. Never said I work there... Go back to watching the new media's version of the Georgia Diagnostic Prison - they don't show the prisoners that are sent there for diagnostic evaluation or who are not housed on death row.
  5. My apologies, I forgot that you would know so much better than someone who has actually worked there for over 20 years. You're right, enjoy your moment...
  6. I have a friend that is a psychologist at the Georgia Diagnostic Corrections Center in Jackson (where Troy Davis is housed). Her description of how much money is spent on the comfort of inmates makes that place like a resort. They have to follow dietary guidelines for each inmate, their workout rooms (there is more than one) are filled with weight equipment, the library is a lawyer's dream, and that's just the tip of the iceberg. Other than their every move being monitored and their inability to leave, their time in Jackson is pretty comfortable.
  7. We lose millions of dollars - these guys are just housed in a box, prisons are now filled with all of the latest workout equipment, a fully stocked library, and electronics (among other things). They are served 3 meals a day and the only real hardship they face is that they no longer get to take a vacation....
  8. If you're on Twitter, you should see all of the Twitter traffic about this. All of the websites in support of Troy Davis leave off his conviction in the Michael Cooper shooting. They say they want justice, but they don't want to put all of the facts on the table about that day. Davis shot two people that day and then left town. Instead of fighting for his life, they should be praying for his salvation.
  9. Tell her to find a worker's compensation attorney or to call the State Board of WC. She could even look on the website for the State Board - here is a link to an employee handbook that answers some of her questions: http://www.files.georgia.gov/SBWC/Files/employee_handbook.pdf Here is the link to the home page for the SBWC: http://www.sbwc.georgia.gov/portal/site/SBWC/
  10. The doubt only seems to lie with those with the least knowledge of the case. This case has been viewed and reviewed by the courts several times. Different judges have reviewed the case, heard and re-heard the evidence, as has the parole board. Each time the outcome has been the same - he's guilty. The reason perjury is such a serious offense is because original testimony, given under oath, is given far more weight than a recantation before the media. Each of the people who are recanting are now getting their 15 minutes of fame. Instead of giving them a microphone, why not charge them wit
  11. I didn't hear all of the evidence in this case, but I will say this, if witnesses perjured themselves in the first case, perhaps they should be held accountable for the death of Troy Davis...
  12. I like this website: http://littlelightstudio.com/
  13. You have a case number - call the Magistrate Court Clerk (that's where collection suits are generally filed), give them the case no. and ask them for the name of the parties in the suit. As for the merits of the claim, seek legal advice from an attorney (a real attorney). As much as I love some of the people on p.com, for every person that agrees with you, there are at least 100 to disagree with you - and most of the time only the good Lord knows who is right. Jeanne O'Halleran is the only attorney that I know of that actually posts on here, I would suggest that you call her and see if
  14. If you read the article, you will notice that it's full of democrats and republicans. Not paying taxes doesn't seem to be a big deal under the gold dome, regardless of party affiliation. Unless and until we hold ALL public officials to a higher standard, we get what we get.
  15. My one tip: Don't automatically assume that if you aren't hired that it must be because of your sex, age, race, national origin, sexual preference, etc.

    Vaccines

I've had the princess on a delayed schedule since birth simply because I tend to think that getting multiple vaccinations in one visit is just too much. I have a little book that I was given at the hospital that outlines the age for each vaccination so I take the time to check out what the side effects are before we go to the doctor and then I talk to the doctor about it BEFORE she gets it. I've had one doctor make a smart comment about not giving her all of the shots at once, but when I simply told her that it was my decision and it wasn't negotiable, the discussion ended. Every paren
  17. If I feel frightened and someone says that I'm just being silly, I'm still frightened, being told that my fear is silly or irrational doesn't make it any less so in my mind. And, I don't have a problem admitting when I'm afraid. Ex.: I'm terrified of snakes, ALL snakes - some people think that's crazy, but I'm still terrified of them. I'm guinely afraid of what the government is doing to our economy. Democrats think that's silly, but that doesn't alleviate my fears. As for having more or less common sense than the "average" folk, I don't know if I do or not. I do know that I attempt t
  18. Fear, absolutely not. Good sense, yes.
  19. I believe we have a stranger living in our house. Every time I turn around, the house is a mess and my DH and the princess deny that they did it. If I didn't do it and they didn't do it, then we must have an intruder....
  20. Because that doesn't fix her problem.
  21. Sorry, I'm not buying the Anthony's story. I still think they know a lot more about that baby's death than what they are telling.
  22. She's sick and unfortunately, she only wants someone to help her that can get her media attention (Oprah, Dr. Oz and Dr. Phil). She even gained more weight so she could get more attention. The only thing those people will do is to put her in front of a camera so they can get the credit for trying to "help" her, not seriously treat her issues with food. Her father was married 5 times and she describes her childhood as "happy." It's sad really - she needs real help, not some talk show doctor to help her with her issues. Sad, just sad....
  23. This is a small world. We've lived in Paulding for close to 20 years and I just found out about a year or so ago that my ancestors were from Paulding County and actually lived on the battlefield at New Hope during the Civil War. The County libraries have some Paulding Co. history and geneology that you can go and view - it's pretty interesting stuff. And now it's pretty funny because there I times when I wonder if I'm actually related to any of the crazy folks that post on this site!!
  24. We need good local attorneys so we appreciate that you are here!
